A word from Tuscan Blu
Maurizio Privilegi has opened an authentic Italian restaurant at "The Depot" building in downtown Raleigh, NC. The chef prepares dishes from all country sides of Tuscany with new feelings of creation. We use fresh organic products from local farms right here in Raleigh. We also import authentic Mediterranean products directly from Italy. We even grow our own fresh rosemary. gluten free pasta.

Enjoy great food for affordable prices with a casual dining experience. The broad variety of items will keep you coming back time and time again to sample more. The menu also allows for large groups to come together, even with varying tastes. We also provide great vegetarian dishes.

Located in an historic building with the train visible from the window and a cobble stone parking lot, Tuscan Blu serves you a unique experience for visitors of all nationalities.

Our dining experience began with the owner lambasting the waiter at the door for attempting to seat guests when his wife was supposed to be the hostess. It made us and everyone around the hostess stand uncomfortable and we should have turned and ran. The food was not even mediocre! We had tried before and they had a mediocre lasagna but we thought we would give them another try. We had a snapper entree that was the size if two fingers of fish with a uncooked brocollini spear. I would suggest that they try another concept such as Fight Club in this space as the restaurant is not worthy of people's hard earned money.

We had a large table (7 people). The waiter spilled a tray of drinks and didn't comp anyone anything. The food was meh. The rolls are obviously store bought and frozen. The appetizer came out after our main course and was small and thrown together in a manor I wouldn't expect to come from a kitchen. I don't think the waiter we had knew what he was doing.

We visited Tuscan Blu during Triangle Restaurant Week and both ordered the Chef's Table menu with wine pairings for $65. What a deal! The food was excellent and wine pairings were superb. It was a Thursday night and the owner came right over and sat with us during our dessert. He was delightful and we enjoyed talking with him about his favorite wines.

Our first time here and we will definitely go back. There were 4 of us and we had the Chef's Table prix fixe menu with wine pairings. From beginning to end, the food and wine were excellent. Chef/owner Mauritzio stopped by the table often to see how we were doing and make suggestions. Old world Italy right here in Raleigh!

We had a 5:45 reservation prior to a 7:30 Il Divo concert a block or two away at the Red Hat Amphitheater. Was promptly greeted and seated. My wife ordered Ravioli Stuffed with Portobello with Alfredo Sauce and I selected Fettucine Cinque Terre with Shrimp. Both meals were absolutely delicious! House Cabernet was perfect. Staff was very attentive and cheesecake for desert was scrumptious. Owner suggested we exit through the rear of the restaurant, which saved us considerable steps to the Red Hat venue. Very pleased with our dining experience at Tuscan Blu! Will dine there again next time I am in Raleigh. Thanks!

Everyone in my party of three loved what they ordered as well as bites shared from others. Everything from the bread and salads to the entrées were consistently delicious. We were greeted warmly when we arrived and bid farewell when we left. Service was adequate but certainly not at the same level as the rest of the experience. We will definitely return.

This restaurant needs the TV show Restaurant Impossible to come in and help! We waited quite some time for a waiter to come to the table. Asked for bread, only AFTER we order. Waited for water Waiting....ordered, no eggplant Parm (we were there at 1:30?) Ask for bread. 10 mins servers take bread to table that just got there? Asked again. Food comes 2-3 mins later bread? Wrong food for wife (was there for her day) 3 of the tables around us also had incorrect food. The owner was hovering and Barking out orders BEST part I was not happy Server knew it and I left a low tip Owner called me about why I would leave such a low tip. But He would not listen! Moment I started talking he talked over me. So I politely hung up. He called back!

We had a reservation for 13 people on graduation/Mother's Day weekend. There was ample space in the restaurant, food was good. Service was "ehhh" at best. I don't know if the server was new, but he was very easily overwhelmed and displayed frustration which should never be a part of the customer's dining experience. As this reservation was made more than 2 weeks in advance, I was displeased by the lack of professionalism displayed.

The food here was bland and unimaginative. Very typical italian food I felt I could have made better at home (for much cheaper). The place was nearly empty even though we brought a party of 10 on First Friday at 7pm. We expected it to be bustling since the location is so great. A few more tables of people came in later. My friend ordered a dish with chicken, potatoes, and spinach, and when it came out without the potatoes, the server just said "we didn't have time to make your potatoes" like that was an appropriate response. After complaining about that, the server suggested he instead get another glass of wine as compensation (but then she charged him for the wine). Also, the wine list and the beer list were extremely limited.

The Tuscan salad was great, the main dishes were all a bit bland and took 50 minutes to be delivered after the salad course. We also experienced the owner vocally voice his opinion to a server about delivering a bread basket to our table prior to dinner when we were outside having drinks before moving inside to eat. A big no-no in his opinion! Has to ask our server several times just to refill water glasses also... Just not what we've come to expect in a downtown Raleigh restaurant.

My hubby and i wanted a good spot to carb up for the Raleigh Rock and Roll and came across this gem because to our surprise they were not busy. I can't imagine why. The food was so delicious and not expensive for downtown Raleigh. If you are looking for another option to places like Gravy or 518 West you will not be disappointed. Only regret is not having gone here sooner!

My wife and another couple went eat dinner the night before the Rock & Roll Marathon. We booked with open table, which was a good thing. As we watched many folks walk up only to be told there would be a wait without reservations. We were met by the chef at the door. A robust Italian who made us feel like we were long lost family. He came by and had a real conversation with us, more than the normal "Hope everything is good" and move on. The Ahi special was great, very tender and lightly grilled to perfection. The chef's lasagna was also very good. Our waiter made and excellent wine suggestion. All in all a great relaxing dinner before a big run.

We have dined at Tuscan Blu several time but on Friday the kitchen must have changed or something. The food was mediocre at best. The 3 out of 8 dishes I tasted were not seasoned at all, Unfortunately it was a disappointment for us entertaining guests from out of town to bring them to a restaurant we raved about before. To top it all off - one of us didn't get what we had ordered and his meal did not come out until 10 minutes later without an apology or anything. We will give Tuscan Blu another chance but will be shopping for another Italian restaurant just in case it is a new trend of mediocre tasting food.

The only thing that really upset me was how the owner was rude to us by not acknowleding us when taking something from our table. He spoke to the other two tables that were there. We dined as a family of five, including two teenagers. We were all very happy with our meals including salads, entrees, desserts and the house Chianti. The menu had a great variety of choices including pastas, vegetarian and gluten free options. Although we did not try the daily specials, they sounded great as well! Service was very good and wait staff was quite courteous. We dined on a Wednesday night and the restaurant was fairly slow that night, which surprised us. The dining atmosphere was very pleasant and comfortable. We will certainly recommend Tuscan Blu to family and friends. We arrived from out of town and although it is located in the old train depot in a very artsy area, it was very easy to get to the restaurant.

Great Italian food and ambiance in downtown, Raleigh, NC, the owner / chef and his wife Patricia, the hostess, are always on site to greet you. There are several tables on the outside, front porch, plus many more inside in a warehouse setting with an elegant feel. Soft lighting, plus European inspired soft music, set the mood nicely. The front window faces West and yields nice sunsets. The food at Tuscan Blu is consistently delicious and the menu has plenty of variation ( pastas, meats, sea foods, etc. ) plus occasional Specials. The house salad is especially fresh and sets up the dinners nicely. The service here is personal and attentive. Finally, the prices are quite modest for such a fine establishment in a downtown location.

We had made a reservation for Tuscan Blu and arrived less than 5 minutes after our reservation time. The waiter was nice as we chatted with him throughout our dinner. The food was great, but what happened next was unbelievable and rude. We finished dinner in an hour and as the waiter brought our check he informed us that we needed to move along because they needed the table. I was so shocked I couldn't reply. We had not asked to just sit and finish our wine nor had we asked for coffee or dessert. When he returned with our credit card and receipt, once again he reminded us that we needed to hurry and leave as they needed our table. We will never go back and I recommend that you don't go either.

I love how this place has a ton of vegetarian options. Usually, my wife has to hunt for the one token veggie option, but not here--there were all kinds of dishes with a variety of creative flavors, all meatless. I personally got the Pesto shrimp fettuccini, and it was outstanding. Food came out so fast I thought we had wandered into a Mexican restaurant--very quick! Parking was a bit of a challenge, but the food was totally worth it. This was our first time here, and we'll definitely be back!

We both had Tuscan salads, which were good - nice portions with artichoke hearts, olives, cheese....Then he had the spaghetti with crabmeat and he loved it! nice and sweet, just like his mom's! I had Salmon and it was cooked perfectly with a nice crispy crust on the outside and nice and moist on the inside. This was served with spinach sauteed in garlic and olive oil - yum!
