My fiancée & her family went to Turner's to celebrate her birthday. I had the salmon special and cleared the plate. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals as well. Our waiter was helpful. After hearing from the kitchen that the risotto dish is not a large meal, he came back to ask those who ordered it if they wanted a salad. The six of us fit comfortably at the large round table. Also, from prior visits, the bar is welcoming & enjoyable.

The Portugese seafood stew is outstanding. Staff was most welcoming. It was our first time here with our grandchild and they treated her exceptionally well. We were placed at a booth in the back which was the perfect for us. She could move between the grandparents on the banquette and we could relax because we were not placed close to other diners.

  • First Visit to Turner's Seafood

We enjoyed Turner's but had a few slight disappointments. There is a parking lot across the street. The restaurant is clean and attractive. Service was friendly and prompt. The table configuration in the center (along the bar) would be great for a big group, but the tin roof in this area makes it very loud. There is another seating beyond that looks quieter. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We had the shrimp scampi (great sauce) and baked combo. The serving sizes were ok for us but would be small for most people. Baked combo was mostly fries. Shrimp in scampi were a bit small. I would rather see the very low price raised a few dollars for larger shrimp. Over all, very nice place. Very pleasant staff. Will go again.

This was our second and last visit to Turner's Seafood. Noisy beyond any hearing level, served warm white wine, no busboy service, hence no water refills. Dirty dishes left on table. Haddock special under cooked. Service slow to the point of being totally ignored. 30 minutes wait for a glass of red wine. Waiter makes crack about how annoying we were due to a gift certificate and two others credit cards to pay.

This weekend was our first trip to Turner's, but it won't be our last. We heard many good things about them, and they did not disappoint. Although it was noisy and busy with activity, the food and service made up for it. The appetizers were delicious - baked macaroni and tuna chili (a new experience for me and well worth it). We enjoyed chicken piccata with penne pasta and char-grilled salmon for our main entrees. No desserts this time; we were too full. Brianna was our server; she was a delight. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. We highly recommend Turner's for a good meal and a lovely evening out on the town!

We so enjoyed our dinner at Turner's Seafood. Our party of four had delicious food-two of us had appetizers as entrée and the other two had the dinner special (Skate). The food was well prepared. The service was well done and the price of both food and drink was not overpriced. We would return again in the near future.

I had requested a table for 4 at 8pm. We arrived at 7:30pm hoping to get seated early. The host offered a table outside which turned out to be perfect. It was much quieter and more private than the somewhat energetic and lively atmosphere inside, and it was perfect for us. The waiter recommended the Tuna Sashimi, which was amazing, as were the Fish and Chips! The Crab Cakes were a little bready, but otherwise fresh and flavorful. The cocktails were creative and tasty, and our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. What more could we ask for? We look forward to returning.

The customer service has to be the BEST ever! My clams were a little dark and and when I said it with 4 words out of my mouth my plate was retrieved and within 5 minutes light golden brown clams arrived. Food was excellent and by far the BEST restaurant in Salem and I have been to ALL of them. Gracious thanks to Walter our server and the 2 outstanding general managers!!!!!!!!!!!! Someone in the kitchen here really cares. The menu offers fairly standard items, but the execution is notably good. For example, it would be difficult to find a better lobster roll in the Boston area. The welcome was warm, and our server was outstanding. The designers of the space have worked sensitively within the historic building.

On this my most recent visit, once again we where wowed! This was a casual Sunday night dinner with a friend. We shared 4 appetizers all of them outstanding! The Tuna Sashimi was our absolute favorite! Each dish came with small salads as part of the dish, and each salad was different. The cole slaw that came with the crab cakes was the best, crunchy with a bit of sliced apple in it. All this was paired with ice cold Grey Goose Martinis. Service was great!

The food, as one would expect from Turner's, was excellent -- all the fish and other seafood fresh and perfectly cooked. But the restaurant on a Friday night was so noisy that conversation at our table for four was very difficult. It goes a long way toward spoiling a fine meal when you can barely converse with your dinner companions. For this reason we would not return.

Living in Medford, I've been to the Melrose location many times. The Salem location is in a cool spot/building. The best for seafood. Way better than Fins. The only improvement would be if Turners was at the Fins location! Will go back for sure and will recommend it to others. A good place to take customers or have a special lunch with our department.

Restaurant Manager, Paula, was very accommodating with our party. Bartender, Jill, very funny - great stories! She made us excellent drinks when we arrived. Mussels appetizer was small and just average tasting. Calamari appetizer was also average - good enough but nothing special. Salad was delicious with just the right amount of dressing. Swordfish special was cooked perfectly but bland in flavor. Garlic mushroom spinach was flavorful and delicious. We brought our own dessert - two small cakes to celebrate my mother's 85th birthday. Our waiter was helpful and wonderfully patient and calm. We appreciated his kindness and willingness to repeat everything to my mother who is hard of hearing.

Lovely staff great service. Friendly place... Very busy after work Nice set up Varied. Menus Sort of noisy when busy, it quieted down after the work group left.... The clam chowder was good... My linguini with clams in white sauce was not garlicky or creamy but sour and watery, edible but barely.... The coffee was cold when served Everyone else's meals were great... Prices were moderate, not expensive, portions substantial, and filling... I will give them a try again someday...

Had some colleagues in from out of town so we went to dinner at Turner's on a Tuesday night. It was busy enough to feel lively, but not overcrowded or too noisy. The group was not large, only 4 of us - we got a reservation for 6p, although not sure we needed it. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. Food was overall very good - although some meals were better than others. The pasta dishes were ok but not very exciting - but everything else was very good. Would definitely take colleagues here again.

To be far one of us had the halibut and said it was outstanding. Two of us had the swordfish. They asked ahead how thick it was and the waitress indicated about an inch and a half with her fingers. When it came it was two thin slices on top of one another, maybe a half inch each. Very disappointing. The baked stuffed shrimp was all stuffing, and thin shrimp. Will not be returning. Except for the location, Legal's has it over this by far.

We took them Saturday night to Turners in Salem, Well now they are saying its their new favorite restaurant on the North Shore. Food was so good, salads so special. Seafood excellent. Clams to die for, chowder is amazing. They would have gone 2x if there was enough time.
