My friends and I came here for dinner. We normally go to Finz in Salem but wanted to try something different. This place was really nice! Other people have said that this place can get really loud and they were right. We were seated right near the bar which had tons of people. This might not be the best place for a quiet dinner spot if that's what you are looking for. We were fine with the noise cause we were pretty loud ourselves. Food-wise, we all ended up getting the lobster mac and cheese. It was a little confusing though because it's not listed under an entree but as an appetizer. The price was pretty good but the portion was for a single person. And it tasted awesome! I don't know why they just don't put as an entree. Could have saved us asking the waitress all sorts of questions. One friend got a drink and it was too strong for her to finish it. Mine was very strong too but not as bad as hers. One thing we didn't like was every time the front and back door opened we got a chilling/frigid breeze. Very uncomfortable towards the end of our evening when most people had started to leave. Overall a good experience though!

Asked the hotel for a good local seafood restaurant and they recommended Turners. Had a group of 4, we sat in the bar area and loved it. The service was fantastic, very engaging. The food was incredible, I had the tuna steak and it was one of the best I have ever had.

My 3 rd visit to Turner s and not as good a dining experience as the other times . My companions were already seated so as I was joining them the waitress asked me if I had decided what I wanted before I got my coat off. She came by 2 more times within 10 minutes. We had to ask 3 times for water which seemed to be a big deal... Do u want refills , should I bring new glasses, do u need lemon? Just bring the water !!! My baked shrimp were very dry, definitely overlooked. Other meals were just ok... Casper salad was very over dresses, kind of wet. Bread was stone cold. We had to ask 3 times to get sweet er for coffee as it sat there and got cold and when the leather folder came with the check, there was no check in it ! That took time to retrieve as well... Just ok, I'll try another Salem restaurant next time out.

We had a reservation made more than 24 hours in advance. We had to stand in the bar for an extended period of time waiting for our table, and were seated late for an hour that was already late, as I had to take what was available. If you want 6:30 to 7:45 on Saturday, book as early as you can, and be ready for a fairly jarring noise level. We were famished! The food was great, as usual, but they were having some difficulty keeping up in the kitchen, and it seemed like the wait between courses was a bit long for hungry people. But, I ate it all and the oysters were outstanding. I'll be back, and weekdays are a perfectly lovely time for locals to go.

I have been to Turners several times but this past Saturday night it was way too loud to enjoy the company at our table. There were a couple of large parties at long tables so there was much shouting from one end to the other. The food, although it all tasted very good the presentation on my dish was a bit lacking. The sauce on the fish had been burned here and there at the top and on the edges of the dish, not an appetizing look. Others loved the taste but found too much pasta and not enough chicken or shrimp on their plates. Our server was excellent, very attentive even thought the place was jumping. As I said, I have been here before, I have sat in the dining room and the bar and have never experienced as many issues but will go back but probably not on a Saturday evening.

Turner's has an energetic vibe. As long as you have a table and some personal space, you'll enjoy watching people come and go as they indulge in the excellent menu, cocktails, and beers. We had a fantastic waitress who was polite, but all about business, with just the right amount of sass.

We visited Turners Seafood in Salem for the first time on Saturday, November 15, 2014. We were celebrating our anniversary, and we were hoping to choose a nice restaurant that we hadn't yet gone to. Seafood was our choice, and Turners did not let us down, in any way. We loved the location, the decor, the food, and the service. People went out of their way to be helpful, but not too much in the hovering department. The meals were exquisite, with fine touches that put them above the norm. Seasoning, plating, and presentation was perfect. We are both looking forward to our next visit to Turners. We have already recommended the restaurant to many friends and co-workers. Some additional notes: the dining room chairs are extra comfortable, which really lends itself to an enjoyable and comfortable dining experience. Also Kurt (waiter) was great, and the owner (Ms. Turner) also visited a couple times which really says how she cared about our experience all the way through. We'll be back! Went to Turners this past Sunday night for dinner. Had gotten a recommendation from a local bartender that they had great seafood there and as we'd already been to Finz, decided to give Tuners a try. While I loved my salad (I'm a vegetarian), my husband, who is the real foodie, was rather disappointed in this meal. He did like the bacon wrapped scallops he had as an appetizer, but was disappointed with his entree. He had the surf & turf with stuffed shrimp. His meat was overcooked (he'd asked for medium rare) and he said the stuffing on the shrimp was pretty bad - very gluey texture and tasted like it had been frozen. Also disappointed in the size selection of lobsters - Should be able to get larger than 1/2 lb. We won't be going back.

I visited with my parents and husband on Halloween night. Although we were 30 minutes early for our reservation, we were seated immediately. Service was prompt and friendly, and the food was to die for! The bread basket was great and came with a choice of an herb bread or cornbread. The raw sampler (shrimp, oysters, clams) was super fresh, and the crab cakes were well-seasoned and delicious. The decor was classy and added to the overall experience--our entire party was impressed!

Salem Massachusetts is the perfect place to go in the Halloween season. There was nothing scary at Turner fisheries though. Everything was just perfect. My wife had the most delicious crabcakes I had ever tasted. My friend and I both had the salmon and it was out of this world. What really made the night was the spectacular service from a waitressed named Brianna. It is rare in today's busy world that a member of the staff takes such care to makes sure everything is just perfect.

What a great addition to the Salem scene. Perfect menu options and all the dishes were really well prepared. Started with the calamari, table had black/blue shrimp, salmon, surf & turf and shrimp fra diavlo. All entrees were well cooked, seasoned and just the right size. No complaints at a table on 4 on a SUPER BUSY Saturday - well played Turner, well played! Hubby wants a few more options on the Scotch menu. Server was attentive and friendly within the chaos. Bar scene to start was great, waited a few minutes for our resy (we were early) and they have a great system for the bar tab to transfer to the table - very helpful. We will return and look forward to making this a regular place for a great meal.

Had dinner here on Friday night, and the whole experience was wonderful. Server was attentive and personable. We started with the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail - excellent, as was the clam chowder. I had the Newfoundland Finnan Haddie based on the server's recommendation between that and two other entrees I was considering. I chose it based on her comment that the others I was considering are basics founds on most any seafood menu. I loved it. Not overly creamy or heavy. Mashed potatoes were firm and the perfect accompaniment to the fish. Others at the table had the Haddock Piccata and the Grilled Tenderloin. For dessert, we shared the molten chocolate cake. Outstanding. Nice that the owner/manager stopped by the table. Will be back!

My son and I were in the area to look at colleges and this restaurant was recommended by the hotel. The atmosphere was great and the service good. The food was tasty and enjoyable and not over priced for the quality. It was noisey but I feel this was part of the experience. This is an historic site and it felt good to share the dinner with the spirits of Nathaniel Hawtrone and the likes. We dined during the halloween season so Salem was in a festive mood.

I actually found this restaurant on Open Table and I'm glad I did. The food was wonderful and the prices reasonable. I had a New England Favorite Baked Scrod and it was delicious. Best I've tasted in a long while. My sister had the stuffed shrimp and she thoroughly enjoyed it. My Dad had the Lobster Bisque with lobster added and he reported it was delicious as well. Our waitress was attentive and very helpful. I have a food allergy and the staff made sure I'd be safe with my chosen selection. Overall a great experience in dining. We went to Turners this weekend for my mother-in-laws birthday and I would say it was an okay experience. When checking in the hostess had to record of the reservation I made with the Salem location via OpenTable App. They kept telling me it must be for the Melrose location but I pulled up the confirmation email and it had their location and phone number. They apologized and were quick to seat us after a 10 minute wait. The staff was mediocre to accompany over priced seafood. I think there are better seafood resturants in Salem and I don't know I would go back.
