Food was terrible. The scallops were tiny and over-cooked. Clams were mushy. Seafood medley had no flavor.Servver was very nice, but food came out very slowly. Were there to celebrate my husbands birthday, so I was very disappointed. It was expensive and not worth the money.

We have been to Turner's in Melrose a few times, never to be disappointed. The food is always good -- the fish fresh and delicious. Most of the menu consists of seafood standards -- it is not the kind of place where you are going to find stripped-down or updated versions of recipes -- but what it lacks in inventiveness is made up for in the ambiance and family-friendly vibe, which is critical for parents of young children, like us. Further, the restaurant is always clean (a must, in my opinion) and efficiently run. Prices seem in parallel with similar restaurants. If you are in Melrose, stop in, especially during oyster fest, in September, or lobster fest, in November!

The food is always great. By far, the best oysters around. My wife and I go to Turner's (Melrose) at least 8 times a year. The food is always up to our somewhat high expectations. As for the service, we have just come to accept that the wait staff is over stretched and that the extra rolls that were promised, the second drink, the complete meal at times and water refills will be a bit random. They are very pleasant but somewhat forgetful. This past visit water was never refilled, the extra rolls not delivered and the second drink was a long time coming. Despite the only adequate service (at a restaurant with prices that would suggest great service) we will continue to go to Turner's in Melrose. The food is always worth going for.

I am happy that Turners finally does somewhat of reservations now. We booked at the last minute online thru opentable and when we got there , we did not have to wait and got exactly what we wanted which was a nice booth. The food was delicious as always. Service was great. I like the idea of the Managers coming around and asking how everything is. That very personable and gives you a sense that they want to give good customer service and make you happy.

We had a very good meal, but the thing that bugs me the most happened. We viewed the menu on line and I found a Hake dinner special listed. At the restaurant, I ordered it and was told by the waitress that they no longer had that special and had not offered it for months. Why didn't they update the site if this was true?

The food was amazing! But my encounter with the waitress left me uneasy. She introduced herself then asked us for our drink request; I asked for a pumpkin pie (only because I saw a few patrons drinking them while we waited) in which she asked "is it in the drink menu?" we didn't have a drink menu. She came back with a drink menu, took our drinks then asked if we wanted to place our orders. Another couple was seated next to us and her demeanor was 100% different, they got bread and we're told specials, we were not my boyfriend had to ask.

It was not very busy. This was on a Friday night a little after 8. It has always been crowded then. When our drinks came my glass had a crack in it. We had a special appetizer of the night, hummus, which was very good. The fish chowder was very good. Our main courses were another matter. I had the tuna burger which I had gotten before and enjoyed. This time the dressing on it had an odd taste. I don't know if they changed the recipe, but it was not good. The mashed potatoes were cold. My wife got the fish sandwich . It didn't taste fresh, smelled fishy, and was mostly batter. The dessert we got was dry. We wondered if they got a new cook. A onetime favorite of ours, we will give it one more try.

We all enjoyed our dinner. The only negative was I ordered the fish picata; the fish was excellent, but it was on a bed of linguine which was swimming in oil and inedible. We would go back for the fish only, but do intend to go back. They were also very gracious to an elderly family member.

We went to Turner's because of the location (met people who traveled by the Orange Line to Oak Grove) and couldn't have been more pleased! we will return because of the atmosphere and the food. Waitress explained the history of the Turner family - they've been in the fish industry for years. the food was excellent and had a excellent variety on the menu!

Good Morning, Thank you for the opportunity to write about Turner's Seafood Grill, this is about my 5th visit and have never been disappointed with the seafood. I had the Hake Marsala which was delicious, however the vegetables that went with the meal were limp and tired looking...as if they'd been on the top of the stove all afternoon. The clam chowder was hot, steaming and delicious and the Coconut Cheesecake was so rich and creamy I had to take most of it home. The portions were very adequate and the service was top notch. The noise level was much more bearable as I went in around 5:00 but they seated me right away even though my reservation was made for 6:00pm. Have a great day. I do luv good food.

The food was excellent, well seasoned, good portion sizes, hot and not a long wait . The dessert (chocolate ganache flan) was incredible. One half of the restaurant (the side next to the open kitchen is very noisy), the other half was much better. The server was very impersonal and abrupt, more like Durgin Park, did not match the classy food and ambiance.

I love this restaurant, with the exception of the noise level which was way too high! The meals were scrumptious including the desert -- which was spectacular melt in your mouth smoothness--totally decadent and free because we were celebrating my girlfriends birthday! My two friends had the salmon and I had the Finnan Haddie which I absolutely loved. They seated us almost immediately upon arrival and in a booth per our reservation request through your site. Service was prompt and efficient. Our waitress checked back regularly, refilling waters, drinks and to make sure our needs were met and we were totally satisfied. Could have been even better with less noise.

My husband and I dined with 2 other people to celebrate a birthday and anniversary. Two of the four meals were just OK. The baked stuffed shrimp were small shrimp with the shell left on. So after removing shell, there wasn't much shrimp to eat and the fried flounder special was very thin and overcooked. The risotto was cold and had to be sent back. Don't think we will be going back to the Melrose location.

My husband and I love going to Turners for seafood but we were very disappointed this last visit. Service was okay and the food wasn't too great. Presentation, taste, and portion sizes were all affected in a negative way. I don't know if this has to do with it being restaurant week, but we ordered regular entrees and we were not impressed. We still plan on going back since we've had many other good experiences there but I hope we won't have a repeat of our last visit.

No spicy heat, and really $11 extra for three scallops. The Asian salad was delicious. Chocolate torte delicious too. Service was slow, but very apologetic . So many better neighborhood places out.

Returning here after a few years, we were disappointed with Turner’s. The food is good, but the place is noisy enough to make conversation difficult; the service, which was friendly and fairly responsive, was also distracted, e.g., drinks which were to be served with the entrées didn’t arrive until those dishes were halfway eaten. The killer for us, though, was that our reservation through OpenTable was, according to the hostess, “not technically a reservation,” and we weren’t seated for about 18 minutes after our “reservation.” This isn’t hard. Restaurants above and below Turners for quality of food and number of customers manage to do it every day. We don’t mind waiting a few minutes, but a reservation is a contract. We won’t be back.

I frequent Turners. This was the first time I got oysters. My only complaint is that they put the horseradish on top of the cup of cocktail sauce so it was impossible to get just the horseradish. I'm not a huge fan of cocktail sauce. We also had an order of mussels, the basil garlic broth was delicious but we were a little disappointed on how many mussels in the dish weren't open. Still a good meal.

I love Turner's Seafood. They have such high quality fish and seafood and there are a lot of options on the menu. So there is sure to be something that will satisfy you. My favorite is their New England Clam Chowder and also Coconut Shrimp. The Clam chowder has so many clams and is really creamy and the coconut shrimp has a wonderful dipping sauce and is loaded with coconut. We were so full from appetizers and dinner that we didn't get dessert, but they have some nice options too, and you can get a pre fix meal for like $23 which is a steal.
