A word from Tupelo Honey Cafe - Charlotte
While we revere the time-honored traditions of the Southern cook, you will find our take on the Southern plate a little different. Because Tupelo Honey Cafe is a little different. Our transformation of just about everything Southern – from fried chicken to sweet potatoes to catfish – is decidedly spirited, independent, and frequently unscripted.

Creativity rules in our kitchen where our larder is filled with scratch-made, inventive goodness. We ratchet up our flavors so they’re on par with the farm-fresh produce we love. And we serve it all with a healthy measure of fun – with our heartfelt promise of delivering an experience worthy of the memories that tend to be made around our table.

  • "I took my boyfriend and his kids there for a birthday breakfast. We sat outside, the weather was perfect. Our waitress was so wonderful and she made our visit special. It was a first time for all of us and we will be back!!"

  • "I booked a table for 20 to celebrate my graduation and my guests and I were very pleased with the service, ambience, and the table location. The food was fresh and DELICIOUS and everyone enjoyed their meal!! I will definitely eat there when I'm in town again!"

  • "We had reservations for fifteen and were seated at the high-tops in the bar side. It was perfect, it felt like our own private room. Same staff lunch last month, we were seated in the general dining area and the noise was a little too much."

  • "Great food, even better service, BUT it was extremely difficult carrying a conversation at our table of four on a Thursday evening."

  • "Just had my third trip to Tupelo Honey's in Charlotte and same issues. Waiters rush to get you out. With spoon still in dessert, waiter is bringing check and give the bill an eagle eye every time they pass by if your cc isn't showing. No offer for more iced tea. Food is good, not exceptional and if they are going for true Southern food, they missed the boat. Southerners do not eat, as a rule, Swiss Chard for greens. Stringy and have to be cut with a knife. Biscuits and jam are delicious, however. Banana pudding tastes like Jello pudding mix, not authentic. Perhaps I am being too critical as I am a born and bred true Southerner."

  • "Had a group of 13 co-workers and we were accommodated by Tupelo Honey with no problem. The honey biscuits with the boisenberry jam is something to definitely right home about. Each table got a pretty hefty serving of biscuits before our entrees came out and service was pretty decent given outer large group size. It took approximately 35 minutes from ordering to eating (again given our large party size). The group tried a variety of menu items. One of my co-workers tried the Southern Fried Chicken BLT and another co-worker had the Venerated Veggie Bowl. I would highly recommend both dishes and I would also recommend getting a side of beet salad. Overall, I would give our experiences and the food a 4 out of 5."

  • "The Charlotte Scarlets met at Tupelo Honey for our June gathering. The ladies thought the food was outstanding. Our waiter, Brandon, was exceptional. There were no complaints from any of the ladies. I highly recommend Tupelo Honey."

  • "We love Tupelo Honey in Asheville and drove from Raleigh to have a graduation celebration. The staff was great and very accommodating. The food was excellent. Lots of variety, which appealed to our large group. The biscuits did taste a bit different from the ones we were used to in Asheville, our only disappointment."

  • "While the portions for the breakfast were slightly smaller than the price would indicate, the food was delicious. It was pertinent to our party to make a reservation so that was very helpful, although some of our party were "no shows" the restaurant quickly accommodated with out any problem."

  • "Our group of seniors like to split our meals and were dissappointed to be served our meals and an extra plate. Almost all the restaurants we have visited during this year, have split the meals in the kitchen. Food was good and the salads were outstanding."

  • "Delicious food and wonderful service, and we were a party of 16!"

  • "There were 8 of us having dinner before heading uptown to a play. I can say that everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food as there was not a plate there with any food left. I had a vegetable plate which was wonderful. We also ordered meatloaf, catfish and grilled chicken. I had mashed cauliflower, sautéed greens, fried green tomatoes and fried okra. All were perfect and tasty. I tasted the meatloaf and the macaroni and cheese and both were great. Service could not have been better. We were finished with our meal and checks paid with plenty of time to get uptown to the theater. We all agreed that we will definitely go back."

  • "We reserved a table for eight people for a graduation party. Server's shift must have ended after our food order was taken. No one was assigned to follow up with our dinner party, we flagged other servers as they walked past. Basic condiment requests were forgotten, drinks were not refilled, food plates were left sitting in front of us until we stacked our own plates at the end of our table. Food was mediocre at best. I went up to the service bar to ask if a server had been assigned to us and was asked "where I was sitting" (our table was right in front of the bar). Management removed the appetizers from our bill but it was too little/too late. Not sure how you forget a table of eight when your restaurant isn't full."

  • "I graduated from college this week and made a reservation with Tupelo Honey for my family of 11. This was hands-down the most perfect place to enjoy the time we had in celebration together. From the Porch Swing drink, to the Southern Popcorn (fried okra), to the home fries and burgers, the food was exceptional. In addition, the service was so friendly and understanding. The atmosphere of happiness and relaxation is infectious, and led to a great time with my family on this special day. Thank you, Tupelo Honey!"

  • "Great place overall. General noise level is pretty loud, even during the day. Service is consistently on the slow side, so don't try to get in and out in a hurry. Making a reservation online is your best bet to get your group in quickly. The staff is super friendly and the food is great, making it well worth the wait in my opinion. Delicious free biscuits with jam and honey tide you over while you wait for your order. Very happy with our groups overall experience, everyone had a great time and a great meal! "

  • "We came with a group of Ladies from the office to celebrate a co-worker that is getting married. We always go out for appetizers and drinks. To our surprise, appetizers were half price and we ordered a lot and enjoyed every bite!!! We will certainly choose this place again for any kind of celebrations we can find! Thanks for having our table ready and for such a nice and clean restaurant!"

  • "This was my first time dining at Tupelo Hone Cafe and it was amazing. The only problem I ran into was trying to figure out what to order. ALl the dishes sounded amazing. I went with the sweet potato pancakes with granola and it was a little piece of heaven. The biscuits melted in your mouth! Next time I want to try the nutty chicken! Cant wait to go back. Tupelo Rocks!"

  • "We had 9 in our party & Our waiter was good. Just don't like the fact that he called me & several others honey & sweety. If you don't know me , don't call me by those names. That might be just him, but it doesn't st good with me. Food was really good. Been twice now"

  • "Took a party of 8 out-of-towners here to get a taste of the South. Very casual ambiance, but waitress very friendly and knowledgeable. Food was excellent-- kind of new South if you will-- goat cheese grits, etc. Crab cakes were excellent. Prices a little steep, but worth it."

  • "We had a farewell luncheon at THC for one of our teammates who received a promotion. We had a table of 13 and EVERYONE loved what they ordered for lunch. From fried chicken sandwiches to overstuffed veggie melts to perfectly fried okra to those incredible mind-blowing grilled cheese sandwiches, the food was fantastic! Perhaps the biggest hit was the biscuits! The biscuits are really good but when you add the honey, they're really something special! The servers were great and the manager came by to check on us twice. The entire team said they would definitely dine here again. What a great way to celebrate our teammate: surrounded by good friends and great food. Tupelo Honey Cafe is definitely a winner!"

  • "I went with a group of 16 ladies, we arrived at early with all of our ladies getting there on time for our reservations. We were seated in a timely manner and the food was great, our service was better after we switched our waitress. I don't want to write a bad review based on 1 waitstaff's bad attitude & neglect, however the waitstaff is part of a restaurant ambiance. We got the managers attention & had her replaced. Our ambiance was back in balance. Our meals were great aside from the black bean burger, which was a bit dried out. The waitress quickly had that remedied. The biscuits got rave reviews, along with the pumpkin pancakes, the meatloaf & all the other dishes our guests enjoyed...every dish was delicious! We will come back again!"

  • "It was 11 of us for my birthday. My first time there. I chose the place bec I heard it was awesome and my whole party was compalining about services. Bec it was my birthday I tried hard not to say anything. We sat there for 15 min before a waiter came and got drink orders. We had to ask a waitress, wasn't ours, to take our order bec no one did and that was 35 min after we got there and then we got our food after being there an hour and a half. 10am sat. 1015 drink orders 1030 places our order 1120 or so got our food. We were there from 10-12. Food was amazing! Three of the guests didn't enjoy their meals. Manager did give me free dessert bec of the troubles but something should have beenndonenfor the party not just me."

  • "I went to THC with 3 co-workers to celebrate a birthday over lunch. We LOVED it! Between us, we had the burger, black bean burger, sweet potato pancake, and the fried egg BLT. We all enjoyed our food very much. Fantastic dishes with a nice southern twist. And our waiter, Brandon, was super. So fun and friendly. We will definitely be back!!!! So many other things on the menu we want to try.THC is a great addition to the Charlotte restaurant scene."

  • "It was my first visit to the restaurant, and I will definitely be back. The food was all delicious and you could really tell that it was all "scratch made" like they advertised. We had a group of 11, so we made a reservation and I am glad we did. It was a packed house, which definitely means that everyone agrees that is is a place to go!"

  • "We had a party of 20 (with a reservation) which might normally lead to long waits and gaps between diner's entree's. But Tupelo kept the flow from appetizers smoothly into entree's. Entrees for every diner came out within minutes of each other. And everything was well executed & flavorful! It was a treat and everyone agreed that they'd be back (90% of our group was there for the first time)."

  • "Glad TH came to Charlotte! We always visit when in Asheville. Great menu, good location. Pretty loud, but we weren't especially looking for a quiet Sunday brunch, so no worries. The older folks with us did have a really hard time hearing the table conversation, though - something to take into consideration. Being able to make reservations online was very helpful. Food was outstanding, but our server was a little lax - she may have been overwhelmed, but busy is all part of the job. We'll definitely go back again. Didn't get to visit the bar area this time - looked pretty promising with a decent beer menu to look forward to. Crossing our fingers that this is one more good addition to regularly drive into Charlotte for."
