A word from Tulip Restaurant
Tulip aspires to introduce Turkish cuisine to the Milwaukee area.

It is housed in the old Gas Light Building in the historic Third Ward. The warm cream city brick walls, coupled with the red hues of the onyx bar make for an inviting and panache atmosphere. The menu entices you to indulge on Turkish delights, such as eggplant puree, fried cheese roll, lamb chops and shish kebabs. Freshly made pita bread and baklava are awaiting you. Accent your dining with an excellent choice of wines, Turkish beer and martinis. No meal can go unfinished without sampling the famous Turkish coffee or Tea.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "One of my favorites, but there were 2 disappontments. First they were out of Turkish coffee. Second the special, advertised as pan seared tuna, was over cooked. Other minor quibbles were that service was a little too slow, and the music was too soft."

  • "Great food at an affordable price. Selections are always unique."

  • "Didn't know they had a fish fry...but...we ordered it and it was FABULOUS!...and the price was excellent. Fish was crisp on the outside and so very moist and flaky inside... HIGHLY recommend Tulip."

  • "My husband and I drive from Gurnee, IL to enjoy this wonderful Turkish restaurant. Always great food!"

  • "Every time I visit Tulip, I come away saying "I should go there more often." The interior is tasteful, gracious and inviting, a perfect setting in which to enjoy their wonderfully prepared food. The dishes are creative and flavorful and portions are generous. Definitely on my repeat visit list!"

  • "Tulip has become one of our favorites. This time we invited four family members to join us for dinner and everyone enjoyed the ambience and the food. We also appreciate the fine service."

  • "Food was terrible, restaurant looks nice, staff are nice, but the food is not"

  • "Enjoyable excellent and relaxing restaurant I certainly recommend."

  • "Went with a Living Social coupon and it clearly stated on the coupon "2) Gratuity not included; please tip on the prediscounted total" However, when we received the bill an 18% tip was included on the bill and there were only 3 in our party. We discussed the issue between ourselves, but did not have the coupon to verify since the waitress had already taken the bill. But after now reviewing the rules we should of questioned the waitress."

  • "My hubby and I took a quick weekend getaway and I thought it would be nice to try something different. Tulip was a lovely restaurant, on the edge of the Third Ward with plenty of seating and outside seating in the better weather. The menu was varied enough for everyone. I had the lamb kabobs and my husband had their 'meatball' kabobs. Both plates were very good. Hot bread with olive oil/oregano came first, with delicious, fresh salads (ala carte) prior to our entrees. Yes, I'm sure we'll be back."

  • "We went to Tulip because of a Groupon coupon we had and it was well worth the trip. The only bad thing I can say is it was kind of loud because of some little kids that were running around. Other than that, it was a great experience! The food was very good. I had the lamb wrapped in eggplant and my husband had some marinated chicken with bulgur. The server was attentive and the prices were very reasonable. I would definitely recommend going there. We will go back there again soon!"

  • "We dined at Tulip prior to attending a concert in the Third Ward. The service was prompt and left us plenty of time to get to the theater. I loved the availability of delicious meatless and gluten-free entrees."

  • "Enjoyed our dinner very much -- especially the chick stuffed with apricots and served with a luscious sauce and mashed potatoes! The lamb wrapped in eggplant was tasty too."

  • "Food was great. 6 of us ordered different meals and we all loved it. Recommend continuing the Groupon participation."

  • "It was a little difficult to find, but worth it. Just around the corner from the Broadway Center. Delicious food, great service. A little too intimate for 2 women (who are not in a relationship) for a dinner, but we were used to that. Neither of our husbands like to see the "shows"."

  • "We enjoy going to Tulip after a good play because we can leisurely chat while waiting for good drinks and a delicious meal. The background music is wonderful and the waitstaff are considerate."

  • "As always, an enjoyable dining experience. However, I did not like that the tip (18%) was added to the bill. Unfortunately for the server, I would have given 20%."

  • "Love this place. We were even entertained by some great musicians - guitar and violin. Food was delicious and the service impeccable. We were not rushed and spent a wonderful two hours dining. On the weekend, make a reservation. We were a 5 pm reservation and by the time we left at 7 the place was packed."

  • "It was our first time there. We went there due to the list open table sends out. So it was an adventure for us, that was great."

  • "Recently went to dine on Valentine's Day and beyond the couple that brought an excellent ambiance with their live romantic music, I would give it 1.5 stars overall at best. The food took 40 mins to come out after the waiter told me me that the salmon would take 18 mins and that was far from accurate or even remotely close. The waiter got my lady's order wrong and didn't even offer anything type of compensation of some sort for his mistake. I just couldn't find the excellence within this restaurant, I wouldn't reccomend this place to anyone because the serice was poor and the food was sub-par."

  • "We booked Valentines eve dinner at the Tulip because it was walking distance to the Sky Light theater. We were very happy with our experience. Live acoustic guitar and violin music created a romantic atmosphere. Prices were reasonable. We often go to the 3rd Ward for day trips. We will be back!"

  • "Great ambiance! Appetizers looked more interesting than entres, so we sampled several entres and only one main course. They were NOT busy, so may not be representative, but service was excellent. Not in love with the meatballs. Lamb chops were great!"

  • "We saw they offered a Valentine's special so decided to make a reservation. We were impressed. Immediate seating, elegant yet minimalist decor, and really good food. The only detraction was when it came time to pay the bill and the server took 20 minutes to return to the table to pick up our payment. After an evening of good food and drinks, that was very minor. It highly recommend Tulip for any occasion."

  • "Outstanding service; enjoyed being introduced to Turkish food options. Moray was an outstanding waiter. Ambience is unique worth a beautiful fireplace. Enjoyed the two piece string entertainers on the Saturday evening we were there."

  • "Started with a bottle of wine which came out timely with bread and oil. The bread was warm and fresh. The lamb was thoroughly enjoyed by us. Overall we experienced a wonderful time"

  • "excellent food and had a great time with friends. everything went smoothly from making the reservation to the splitting of the bill. great service, live music during dinnertime, and excellent food."

  • "The food was outstanding. Excellent lamb dishes, wonderful desserts. The addition of the violin and guitar players to a Saturday night crowd made the room way too noisy. Not a place to have a quiet meal and good conversation."

  • "We always enjoy our visits to Tulip. The food and service are is usually excellent. This last visit, the Donner was very salty and the service was only good. Also, when the server wrapped our food to go, he didn't wrap the bread. When he was called on this, he said he would give us more. When we got the bill, we were charged for the bread."
    Dined on 1/11/2014
  • "All around this place was good. The food tasted great. The only suggestion I would make is specify how you want your meat cooked. The place was busy when we went, so the waiter took some time to get to us, but we still enjoyed the atmosphere."

  • "We visit Tulip on special occasions & when we want to give ourselves a special treat. The warm bread with dipping oil is a delicious beginning. The Shepherd Salad reminded me of our visits to Europe and was very good. The Mixed Appetizers, as usual, were delicious with the lavosh, and we had plenty to take home for a treat the next day. We enjoyed the Chef's special - cornish hen w/garlic mashed and long stemmed broccoli. It was perfectly prepared and presented. The other main dish was the eggplant wrapped lamb with bulgur rice grilled tomato and green peppe, also very good. Although Tulip has a nice selection of desserts, we always choose the kunefe, and are never disappointed. Our server, Brendon, was gracious & attentive. Wonderful time"

  • "Great food. Enjoyed music. Service slow. Not enough wait staff. Saw only two waiters. I would highly recommend this restaurant. I drove to the restaurant from the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. I had eaten there last fall, and the food was delicious then. This was a return visit."

  • "This little gem of a restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere, excellent wait staff, good prices and tasty food. We were greeted immediately and guided to a table by the fireplace. The wait staff was fun and upbeat, and we thoroughly enjoyed chatting with them. The food is moderately priced and the flavors are outstanding. What a nice change of pace."

  • "This restaurant offered a nice selection of dishes that ranged from lamb to vegetarian. The spicy dip appetizer was wonderful as were the dipping sauce and bread. We all enjoyed our meals and had a lovely bottle of CA red wine to accompany them. I had lamb chops that were cooked perfectly with garlic mashed potatoes. My companions had beef kabobs and stuffed eggplant. We all enjoyed our meals. We will return!"

  • "we had a lovely dinner Sat night--and we loved the food and music -- but it was very difficult to talk and hear each other...perhaps the ceiling could be fixed acoustically? also, we were told on the phone that a birthday celebration dessert would be included, but it was not. otherwise delightful!"
