Tsunami Shaw Center - Baton RougeSushi With a ViewI made Friday night reservations with a friend who was visiting and craving sushi. Not only does Tsunami have an amazing view of the Mississippi River and the bridge (especially at night in the outdoor seating area), but the food was also incredible. Between the two of us, we ordered three rolls off the Specials menu: the 412, Phatastic and the spicy Crawfish roll. I ordered the Pomegranate Martini and it was good, fruity and strong. For dessert, we ordered the Chocolate box , which the waitress told us Tsunami was "known for". It was heavenly and rich, and the perfect size for two people. Service was quick, and waiter was both knowledgeable and courteous. Food was excellent; the eggplant appetizer was a bit much for two people, but would have been perfect for 4. The sushi rolls were delicious, and the molten lava cake dessert was well worth the full stomachs. We had fun talking to Ruben and really enjoyed sitting at the bar talking to one of the twins. This was our first visit to the Baton Rouge restaurant. We love the one in Lafayette.

The service is pretty good, my only complaint on this occasion was that the waiter did not know how to open a wax dipped wine bottle that cost $54, and got wax in our wine glasses on the first pour (likely due to inexperience). But the view, the atmosphere, and the FOOD was incredible! The "Chocolate Tsunami" (it wasn't on the menu) is a must for dessert!!! And despite the waiter's inexperience, the bottle of wine (a Cabernet...something with the word garage in it), was out of this world! Overall, the experience was extraordinary! I will definitely be revisiting Tsunami! Tsunami has numerous cooked options on the menu which I love. If they didn't, I wouldn't be eating there, for sushi at least. Each of the 3 types we ate were wonderful. They tasted fresh, well cooked, and well constructed. I've had the short ribs appetizer in the past, and it was delicious too. I recommend making a reservation! We were seated near the back which has a great view of the rooftop and the Mississippi river. The food and drink suggestions were great. Everything I tried was amazing! Also, our server was very help and accomodating even though it said they don't split checks for parties larger than 6. I will definitely be back!!3/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
