Overall a good experience. Love the menu. Service seemed stretched a bit thin. The noise level in the main dining room was too loud - even when only 50% full. My wife and I could barely hear each other. Finally, the food... In hindsight, I realize my Monkfish was under-cooked. I should have sent it back. It was my first time eating Monkfish so had no comparison and didn't want to make a big deal. On the flip side, my wife's braised short rib was amazing.

As indicated by 5 stars across the board ratings I provided... Food was excellent - started with chicken fried oysters which were cooked to perfection with light and crispy bread coating and served with a delicious bacon sauce. Wife had the monkfish and loved it as I did the porchetta. Awesome wine and craft beer selection. It wasy my wife's birthday and our 15 year anniversary and Trummers made it an amazing night. Service was perfectly attentive and management stopped by to make sure everything was to our liking. Trummers has really improved since they first opened... Can't wait to go back.

I wanted a nice evening and meal, to treat my wife on her Birthday. We had an early reservation (6:00 pm) on Thursday evening and were joined by other couples and small groups. The wait staff were VERY knowledgeable, professional but friendly and attentive, and the Fall menu items and drinks we selected were ALL delicious. The waiter and dessert staff even surprised my wife with a dessert place decorated with "Happy Birthday." We highly recommend Trummer's and will return for special occasions. Great for quiet conversation, with piano music playing quietly. Depending on your route, allow plenty of time for traffic going through Clifton on workday evenings.

What a lovely place for a brunch. The service was impeccable. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. It's a big open space and there were lots of people but it wasn't noisy and you could easily carry on a conversation. I highly recommend this place and will go again.

Once again we had a fantastic dining experience at Trummer's. Every item was outstanding and the service was impeccable. We were visited by the Executive Chef and the Pastry Chef, which was a real treat. Personal favorites were the Butternut Squash Bisque, Salmon Tartare, Fried Oysters and Beef Shortrib. Although every entree was outstanding.

We went on Saturday night as we had a gift card for my birthday and we finally were able to get a sitter for all four kids. It does seem that every time we go we get the same table which is odd. (We've been here 6 times.) Our food was wonderful. My husband got the Chicory Beef and I got the Salmon in Ginger Sauce. I am not able to eat a lot of food so I cannot indulge in appetizers and desert. My husband had some chocolate something that would send me into orbit if I ate it but he said it was great. My only complaint about this place is sometimes it feels like the servers are doing you a favor by waiting on you. Kevin was our waiter and we got the distinct impression that he wasn't really thrilled to be waiting on us. He still got his 25% but I almost thought better of it. He went out of his way to be very helpful to the people on the two sides of us. This is a pattern here though and not sure why they seem to think some people are superior to others. It could have been the gift card but if they're going to look down their nose about that then they shouldn't sell it. I will go back as the food is terrific and in our neck of the woods, the best restaurant around. I just wish the servers weren't so rude.

Easy to find & good parking. Service was near perfect. Food was similar in quality and price to what you find at Clyde's but without that menu by committee feeling. Like most restaurants, heavy on the salt. Could really use a light in the stairs.

we shared the chicken breast, which was quite moist, and the short ribs, which were a touch dry. Started with the burrata, which was delicious. My friend had the "Fig" drink, which was good enough to order another - an interesting combination of sweet and tangy/spicy without tasting like bourbon. The mint dome dessert was great, and the chocolate cake dessert was good. The (I think) alabaster bar is striking. Love the dining room. I wouldn't go back on a weeknight from DC - too much traffic

  • Trummer fest!!

attended the seasonal TrummerFest and was not disappointed! A limited seasonal menu created by the chef as a hommage to his roots. We ordered the Jagerteller - meat and cheese board and it was a full platter of Austrian meats and cheeses. Not your traditional meat board by any means. Can not remember all the names but they were all stellar. Was so full after eating the appetizer that we had to scale back on the entree. The Tafelspitz was recommended and when it arrived we were a little dispointed as it looked like an ordinary pot roast in clear broth. Boy, were we wrong! The flavors blended so well with the creamed spinach and chive cream on the side we used a spoon to make sure we got every last bite. A wonderful start to the Fall.

We have eaten at Trummer's on Main several times, in fact, most recently three days before this reviewed meal when they had a Wine Dinner with pairings from an exquisite Austrian winery. The food is always ingeniously put together, perfectly cooked, and unique. The sommelier always has knowledgeable recommendations, and the service is top notch. It is a quiet place on a week night, more noisy on the weekend depending on where you eat, but such a quaint location any time. You cannot find a better restaurant anywhere close to Trummer's on Main.

Was excited to try the Octoberfest menu I reviewed pryor to making reservations. Beer selections were excellent as well as the waiters descriptions. The appetizer was different but very tasty set off with sunflower (pumpkin seed?) seed oil, a first for me. The entrees we chose, one a standard fest meal, the other, which I opted for, was well done, a good blend of flavors and a good endorsement of the Chef's culinary skills. Food quantity precluded dessert, we were both filled but not overly so. Avoid using Chapel Road especially at night. A real roller coaster ride. West on 29, or Braddock, to Clifton road, turn left from either, Trummers will be on right just before VRE train tracks. Looking forward to Malbec tasting.

I've taken my family to Trummer's on Main at least a half dozen times for various family highlights. At each one of our outings I've been pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food with the excellent service that we've received. Unlike other upscale restaurants I was also pleasantly surprised at the portion sizes of the food. There's no skimping on quantity for the sake of quality. If you want excellent food, ambiance and bragging rights, go to Trummer's on Main. You will not be disappointed!

Trummer's is wonderful anytime, but on Sundays the $39 three-course special makes it an even better value. We took a neighbor who'd never been, and her thank-you note said, "The meal was so delectable that it can't be described. The tender beef just melted in your mouth and the Grasshopper dessert was the perfect ending to a perfect meal." We thought so, too.

Trummer's tasting menu and wine pairing is an epicurian expedition; sensually sating the most discerning of palates with a variety of beautifully crafted culinary creations and perfectly partnered vintages. The seven course meal is artful in its presentation and inspiring in its disparate levels of flavor fusion. There is passion in each course; and the brilliant taste development within each dish is a testimonial to the Trummers and Chef Fausett. This is not an inexpensive adventure; however, the money spent is well worth this sophisticated and savory gastronomic excursion. The owners, chef, bartenders and serving staff have fashioned something absolutetly wonderful here.

Ordered the 6-course chefs sampler with wine pairings which we highly recommend to get a great overview of the restaurants style and offerings. It was a lot of fun and the wine recommendations and explanations were really on point. And yes the food was delicious, every dish a unique creation. Only reason I gave it 4 stars not 5 was because I'm simply not used to it, my usual fare is takeout pizza and fast food! But trust me the quality of the food was superb and a lot of fun to sample. Made for a very special anniversary celebration.

We have enjoyed Trummer's, particularly for special occasions. Our most recent visit, however, was a disappointment. The service was slow and inept and the food was mediocre. The porchetta was mainly fat and the desserts, often outstanding in the past, were forgettable. Breyer's mint chip ice cream is better than the "Grasshopper," whose "chocolate streusel" resembled dried out 5-day old brownie crumbs and a Ghiardelli box brownie is far superior to the "warm chocolate cake." Each course was a game of musical plates as two servers scrambled to shuffle the plates from diner to diner until they got it right.

We have wanted to visit this restaurant for a long time and when we finally made a reservation, we were blown away. Everything from the service to the food was beyond outstanding. The wine list is extensive (20 pages long). The attention to detail on the presentation of foods including desserts (beignets, yum) was exceptional. While not cheap, I would definitely return to this place.

Trummerfest -- another winner in Trummer's welcome string of pop-up restaurants in its upstairs room! This time the theme was a play on Oktoberfest, and I've got to say that Trummer's Weiner schnitzel was better than we had recently at two restaurants in Vienna, Austria.

We came in looking for the Octoberfest special. It was not offered on Sunday, but we had a wonderful meal all the same. Our waiter, David (I think) was very helpful and engaged with our young son. The food was delicious. We had the fresh made Burrata and stuffed pumpkin blossoms for appetizers. We had a rabbit appetizer (child), a vegetarian dish with sweet potatoes and mushrooms, and a pork dish. All meals were outstanding. Our waiter provided insights to all of the dishes. We finished with some dessert.

Our food was amazing! We ordered ordinary items - pork, chicken, salmon - that was prepared with extraordinary flavors using the best of fall - apples, kale, squash. Brussel sprouts with bacon and truffle mac and cheese as sides were delectable. Unfortunately, we cannot rave about the service. We sat for 15 minutes without seeing a waiter and getting menus, and it was another 15 before drink orders were taken. We were done for almost a half hour before we snagged the hostess to get our check, and left without having dessert. We think it was not the waiter's fault; the restaurant was under-staffed. Also the commuter train blaring past every 15 minutes did not add to the ambiance. May try Trummer's again, but not any time soon.

We have been to Trummers several times, but this was our first time trying Trummerfest. The food and beers were great, but we had to wait nearly 1 hour for our table despite our reservation (and it was mid week too!). Then the delivery of our food, drinks & check was sporadic. It was simply too slow for a mid week dining experience especially since we had already waited so long to be seated. I don't know that I would do a special event again since it seemed to put the staff off their game, but the main dining hall experience is usually flawless and will bring us back again.

We had a reservation, but had to wait over 50 minutes for a table. Once seated, we had to request that the Oktoberfest themed music be turned down as we couldn't hear each other across the table. Loud is an understatement. Our server was enthusiastic & knowledgeable, but forgot, despite our reminder, to bring a side of vegetables we had ordered and served us cold coffee at dessert (even though we had to wait for it because it "was brewing right now".). BUT, the food was amazing! Best goulash I've ever eaten~made with short ribs, it was decadent, succulent and simply to die for! The homemade pretzel was outstanding. If they had worked out their reservation issues and kitchen timing, the evening would have been a complete success.

We dined at Trummer's on a Sunday evening for our anniversary. For starters we enjoyed the rabbit ragout and stuffed squash blossoms; both were excellent. Mains included the coffee crusted short rib and the honey-brined chicken breast. The food was outstanding, very fresh and cooked to perfection. The service was excellent and the staff was attentive without being overbearing. We'll be back soon!

We particularly enjoyed the opportunity to enjoy authentic Oktoberfest dishes (and beers) so close to home. I only wish they served these dishes year-around, but then I suppose they wouldn't be so special. The service was spot on.

I went to Trummer's on Main for brunch to celebrate my birthday. I was going skydiving afterwards and was hoping for the best "last meal" I could find. Turmmer's did not disappoint, and luckily neither did my chute.
