  • "I thought the restaurant was great!. Definitely a hidden treasure in Old Town Clifton. Great atmosphere with a cozy vibe. The restaurant is an old inn from the late 1800s completely renovated with a charming, warm, and plush feel. I would definitely go again!"

  • "This was our first time at Trummer's On Main. The food was exceptional, very tasty and satisfying. They have some unusual dishes (in a good way) which makes selection difficult. My girl friend and I got different dishes. We tried each others entrees and agreed both were outstanding. We were very pleased with the friendly, professional and highly efficient staff. We will definitely go back. We were told by our waiter that they have awesome burgers on Tuesday and Thursday nights. We are both burger lovers so I am sure we'll give that a try. The owners stopped around to check on our dining experience. They are a very friendly couple and we enjoyed speaking with them. We would highly recommend Trummer's On Main for any occasion."

  • "The Tasting Menu was a perfect blend of food choices, perfectly matched to a wonderful wine selection!"

  • "Food was excellently prepared and reasonably priced; excellent wine selection but wines and specialty drinks were overpriced which is typical for high end dining experiences. Ambient noise level was a little high. Staff was well trained, attentive and friendly which made for an enjoyable evening."

  • "Nice atmosphere for a brunch. We were surprised that the pastry basket in the starters was served cold. We had the eggs Benedict which was served with shredded BBQ'd short ribs instead of Canadian bacon. The flavors were well balanced and I was happy to finish all of it. The portion sizes were perfect for brunch, not too large. The first cappuccino I ordered was made from regular coffee beans with a foam on top. After making the server aware of the error, the brought back one prepared correctly with espresso beans and a nice foam. The mrs. had a pineapple manhattan which was aggressive its bourbon quantity for a light brunch. With three plates and one cocktail it seemed pricey. Recommended with reservations."

  • "Menu was unique and varied. Very rich food but well prepared. I found myself longing to join the crowd in the bar for a simpler menu! Wine pairings were excellent!"

  • "Although I booked the reservation mere hours before my meal, the folks at Trummers had no problems seating me. They even provided an anniversary card! The meal was spectacular, the service even better. I love this place!"

  • "I was disappointed that we were seated in the almost empty -- except for a multigenerational gathering -- older section of the restaurant for brunch. The new, beautiful section with lots of light and huge windows is preferable, especially for a daytime seating. Ask to be seated there!"

  • "Really enjoyed the entire evening...only minor gripe is the 2 person tables were too long and you had to literally lean in to talk to your date. It also made contact much harder (touching/holding hands almost impossible) and kind of ruined the romantic atmosphere just a bit. Otherwise food and service were outstanding. Look forward to dining again."

  • "We were there on a Saturday night. Two of us. Seated in fireplace room. Glad that tables are spaced comfortably apart so that we could converse easily without everyone around us hearing it (and vice versa with other tables). The liver mouse appetizer was delicious, although not really served with a crostini, it was more like a big slice of bread. The Kale Ceasar Salad was excellent and full-bodied; the beef cheeks were tender and delicious; the salmon was moise and truly medium rare; and the raspberry curd desert was just sweet enough. And the coffee was hot. And the service was appropriately attentive and unrushed. Excellent location for a special dinner in historic Clifton."

  • "Having a celebratory dinner, we were treated as if we were the only ones in the restaurant. We arrived to Prosecco for a toast followed by titanic drinks--a great drink. The menu was examined in detail by Daniel who helped us make our choices. The six of us enjoyed several appetizers and four different entrees. The garlic soup was rich and light and the scallops were cooked perfectly. Portions were plentiful. Too full for dessert the waiter brought over congratulations and birthday treats of chocolate truffles and macaroons for all six of us. We were completely happy with our meal and will recommend it to our friends."

  • "Maybe it was because of the snow, but we were the only table in the dining room the night we ate here. The waiter was fun and very attentive without being overbearing. I might have felt self-conscious being at the only occupied table, but the food, drinks, wine, and waiter made it a wonderful dining experience. Some things on the menu were too adventurous for me, but there was plenty to choose from. Every dish was beautifully composed with a great deal of attention to detail. The flavors and textures were varied but complimentary. I had the mussels with gnocchi for my entrée and would recommend it. Can't wait to go back again."

  • "This is a really great place with an ever-changing, eclectic menu. They offer great service and a unique dining experience - NOT the same, boring dishes served by everyone else. Great for special occasions - must have reservations."

  • "Each item on each plate received equal attention and, in combination, was delicious and pleasing to the eye. Service was excellent and I enjoyed the unexpected, subtle birthday recognition at the end of the meal. In all, a delightful birthday gift!"

  • "Sunday night is especially fun, since there is open bottle wine for $5 and $7 a glass! The food is always excellent and well presented. I like the popcorn ice cream for dessert - a true delight!"

  • "Excellent place to eat any meal. Food and service are always excellent."

  • "Charming setting with less than ample parking. Noise level is less than conducive for an enjoyable experience. Server was poorly prepared to explain the menu selections and completely unschooled with regards to the wine list. Delivery of food was extremely slow and the serer failed to inform us of the delay - forget about apologies, as there were none. Food was overpriced and lacking presentation. Perhaps they should drop the pretense of fine dining and concentrate on personality and staff taining."

  • "Certainly lived up to the word on the street among Clifton locals. Fine dining is not among my frequent activities but would say Trummer's lived up to my expectations as a top pick for those very special occasions when I do. Great location and attention to every detail ensuring a memorable experience. Prepare to be impressed by one of the most comprehensive wine list and highly renowned chef in Virgina."

  • "This was our second time dining at Trummer's and we absolutely love it! The food is wonderful with great flavor. The menu items are original and very well thought out. Truly a gem that we will return to again again. Highly recommended!"

  • "While the food is on the pricier end, it's well worth it! The chefs and waitstaff are literally amazing. The food is unique and interesting… and it gets better with each bite. The staff and servers are very knowledgeable and able to describe the food, preparation, etc. Our waiter, Jonathon, was a gem! He's lively, engaging, and always able to suggest great food based on our tastes. (Oh and the drink menu is just as exciting as the food!) We love it!"

  • "This is a very pleasant restaurant that we have been to several times through the years it has actually changed owners 3 times since we first started going there. The chef is a little eclectic with his choices and we love it. The wait staff were excellent , very professional but not stuffy or snooty. The food is most definitely the star of the evening. I highly recommend this place for a special night like a Birthday or Anniversary it's pretty special."

  • "My husband and I are always looking for non-chain restaurants in the area and I'm so happy we found this one. The service was perfect, the food was delicious and it wasn't over priced. It's located in an adorable small town setting that makes it even more charming."

  • "My wife and I were looking for a unique setting for our anniversary. Clifton, VA provided just that and more at Trummers on Main. Food was unique and the service was impeccable. We enjoyed the small town's nightlife after dinner also!"

  • "We are regulars here - from the delightful pop-up restaurants on the top floor, to the luxurious dining room. We've never had a thing that wasn't fabulous. Service is personal but not obtrusive; Diana the Sommelier is also a treat! There are a dozen only-here innovative items on every menu, like the amazing aubergine baklava, who knew???"

  • "From the moment you arrive, the staff are welcoming and friendly. The menu is always versatile and creative with fresh, seasonal ingredients. We recently dined here to celebrate our 15th anniversary and we picked the special prix fixe "Taste of Nova" 3 course dinner & it was amazing (the smoked marbled potatoes that accompanied my roasted Norwegian salmon were out of this world)! We even had Chef Austin come to our table to introduce himself and chat a bit. The main dining room is gorgeous with lots of windows and beautiful lighting and indeed gives a wonderful ambiance to the room. Trummer's has an extensive wine list and a good selection of wines by the glass in case you only want one. Try their signature drink, The Titanic. 5 stars!"

  • "Went for restaurant week.Excellent food, cocktails and service. This is our fifth time at this restaurant and it has always been a wonderful experience."

  • "We went because of the promotional $38 3 course meal offered lately. I stuck to my plan while my two partners ordered alacarte and their bill was over $200. The Florida Mule cocktail was amazing. A few cocktails will really drive your bill up. They are around $13+ a drink, pretty pricey. It is a favorite restaurant of ours, but we can't go often cause it's a bit over our budget, but it never disappoints. My beef cheek entre was to die for, as was the garlic soup and chocolate custard dessert. My partner was not happy with her chicken entree or very skimpy salmon appetizer ( carpaccio) - my son's pork dish and beef marrow were spectacular! Love that they offer these dinner deals every so often. Thanks!"

  • "Trummer's is without a doubt THE best restaurant in Northern Virginia and one of the very best in the entire DC metro area. You'd think the food couldn't get any better, yet innovations continue apace, from the recent NoVa menu (not often one finds those tender and so-delicious beef cheeks) to the pop-up restaurants-within-the-restaurant (welcome back, bargain Burger Bar!). And the service, which started out good but sometimes uneven, improved to very good with a little more experience and time for training, and now rivals that of Michelin-starred restaurants we have enjoyed in Europe."

  • "I had been wanting to try Trummer's on Main for ages after always seeing it on the top of the restaurant rankings in our area. I recently went with 2 girlfriends for their price fix menu for Taste of NoVa and I am glad we did! The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful and the food was delicious. You feel like you've been whisked out into the country away from the crazy of the city and really you are just 20 min out of the area in Clifton! Great spot and I will def return. Their popcorn ice cream is well worth a second trip!!!"

  • "I have visited Trummer's on Main a number of times and always leave feeling disappointed. The restaurant is stunningly beautiful but sadly, the food just isn't living up to the expectation created by the ambiance. My husband ordered the charcuterie plate which was lackluster at best. It was served without explanation and was just bland. The highlight of our meal was the kale salad and butter lettuce salads-yummy! The scallop dish I ordered was gritty and bizarre; couldn't finish it. My husband enjoyed the salmon dish he ordered. Both were served on the cool side though. The bread before dinner and the beignets after were tough. I hope Trummer's changes it menu soon and gets some of these details worked out."

  • "Friends came from New York and were duly impressed. They made favorable comments comparing restuarants in New York of comparable quality. Everyone enjoyed the adventuresome menu. Since I like in Centreville they were plesantly surprised a restuarant this good was so close. One negative - you do not want a dessert with cauliflower anything in it."

  • "We were not disappointed in yet another celebration dinner. While the menu seems to have changed a lot with more unusual entrees, our meals were delicious. The presentation at Trummer's is always part of the experience."

  • "This was my first time at Trummer's on Main. Wonderful service from the minute I walked in. I had a reservation and the table took a few minutes to prepare, but the bar was cozy. The watier was very knowledgeable and chimed in with favorites of other diners. My friend and I split a kale salad, she had salmon and I had the scallops. The food was very good. The desserts weren't quite as good as they were billed and they were a bit pricey. I would dine there again and I would recommend this restaurant. My only negatives are that the table for two was a little small and it was a little too close to the next table."

  • "We went for a special Sunday evening dinner and found the food and specially-priced wine offerings to be much to our liking. Service was good, parking was easy and the atmosphere was very nice. Food preparation was the star (for a change) and the desserts were a top attraction."
