Ill rate the food/experience out of 5 stars Ahi Tuna- 3 I have had better at far less expensive places. I was very disappointed. Stone crab- 4.5 was very good, just not cracked as good as usual sweet potato fries - 3 sauce-4 don't know what it was but usually these are amazing lobster bisque-5 this is some of the best you will ever have. Service 4.5 very friendly knowledgeable and accommodating. Ambience was nice outside early evening. 4.5/5 Was disappointed this time unfortunately."

  • "What can I say? Amazing fresh seafood; the king crab was delicious and the tuna was served to perfection. amazing attention to detail and nice to go somewhere with a bit of elegance. The staff were both engaging, knowledgable and entertaining. Very good wine selection (not just from California), but the amazing-looking desserts could feed a small family for about a week (by appearance; we didn't actually have room to try them). The live music in the background was a nice addition to the ambience and the curved booths allowed for privacy without feeling hemmed-in. Open up some more restaurants in other states please!"

  • "Had a wonderful time here tonight. A delicious petit filet paired with an 8 ounce crab leg and some Parmesan mashed potatoes. Cake was ultra delicious, and our guy Matt was excellent. Good stuff. Valet outside only takes cash though. There is an ATM across the street with a $3.50 fee, or just bring the $8."

  • "This was our fourth or fifth time at this location and it remains one of our favorites. Previous visits have been better because the staff had always made us feel special. This time, not so much. Our waiter was preoccupied with the table across from us and didn't really seem all that interested in providing the service we have come to expect and appreciate from Trulucks. My only other complaint is that the side dish options for their excellent filet mignon are somewhat disappointing. No baked potato. Just parmesan mashed. Would love to have a nice potatoes au gratin. Anyway, the steak was excellent so my complaint is minimal."

  • "Might be the best restaurant in San Diego - went back to Market(Del Mar) last week; this was better!! Felt sophisticated in a NY or Chicago way. They get all the details right in a way I almost never see - impeccable service with all kinds of special touches, sophisticated ambiance, amazing food. Had the stone crab claws(could just order by the claw), mussels(amazing, bread for dipping in the sauce was incredibly tasty), sea bass and cobia entrees were both fantastic, cupcake version of the malted chocolate cake for dessert. Beef, chicken, etc. also on their enticing menu and I suspect people in the mood for those would be happy as well. Food was very fresh and the fish was sustainably caught."

  • "We all had different choices of seafood and all were absolutely wonderful! Chilean sea bass, Swordfish, Cobra, Salmon. The brussel sprouts were really tastey and I would go back for them. And, the caesar salad is always good. The service is very timely and very friendly. I'm going back next week for another celebration!"

  • "Management has clearly missed the boat at this restaurant. we arrived early at the restaurant and waited at the lounge. Service there was great until it came time to get to our table. No one advised us that our table was ready, even after we asked about it. We had to go to the reception desk and ask to be seated. Once seated the waiter, proceeds to forget our bread basket. The food came out cold. Our waiter disappeared for long periods of time. In short, management needs to pay attention to the details."

  • "Wedge Salads -outstanding. Entrees must have sat and were not warm when brought to table. Only King crab legs dinner was good. Potatoes served less than warm. One entree garlic mashed brought to table rather than specified seasoned fries. Seasoned fries not seasoned at all and were bland and served after entrees arrived. Waitress was very nice and Birthday dessert was excellent. Unfortunately experience was disappointing especially since we brought our friends. If my wife and I had been there without our friends we would have strongly complained but we did not feel comfortable making negative comments with our friends present."

  • "I had the pleasure of dining here for the first time this past wednesday March 19th. The bar was alive with a good looking crowd, mixed with young professionals and your well dressed couple here and there. Our RSVP was not until 6:15pm and we were about an hour early. We were still greeted with a smile and politely guided to our seats. Our server (from South Africa) was knowledgable, gave full descriptions of his favorite items on the menu and even suggested a nice Wine (which we chose and loved) to go with our meal. The overall experience was very special and left me wanting to bring back friends, family and clients to impress. Impress I will, no doubt. The host was in great spirits and checked on us during our meal. Thank you."

  • "My fiance and I were in visiting from Chicago and could not have picked a better place for a romantic night out in San Diego. The food was incredible especially the tuna tartare tower and the crab macaroni and cheese. I could give or take the mussels but our main dishes were great as well. We both ordered seafood dishes. They had a great wine selection and our server was great! Her name was Jenny and she definitely took the time to go over the menu with us, help us pick a great bottle of wine and even gave us suggestions of what to do while we were in town! If I ever return to San Diego I will definitely go back to Trulucks!"

Our server, Ryan, was engaging, knowledgeable and spot on with recommendations. The food was outstanding. The miso glazed sea bass should not be missed. We had the carrot cake for dessert - best ever!!! The manager visited our table at the end of the meal and seemed to genuinely care about our dining experience and thanked us for patronage. Nice touch. Will definitely be back."

  • "We were at Truluck's with our Pastor after attending a church event downtown with 4000 people present. We were tired! Our server took excellent care of us and made us feel at home right away. The music from the bar was an added bit of fun, making the ambiance excellent and relaxing. The food is always excellent here and our pastor especially enjoyed the fresh sea food platter. I was daring and tried the fried shrimp with a "kick". It was amazing in it's flavor and presentation. We were all able to order what we wanted from the menu because of the many options, fish, beef, and soup and salad and we were all happy….everything was cooked perfectly and the following day our pastor mentioned he had a wonderful time and loved the restaurant!"

  • "This was the first time I had ever dined at Truluck's. Everything we ordered was excellent. For an appetizer we had their famous Stone Crabs which come in 3 different sizes. Served cold with a mustard sauce - delicious! I ordered the South African lobster tail for my entree. Probably one of the best lobster tails I've ever had. It is served with a garlic butter sauce that was wonderful. The side dishes are also really great from the roasted brussel sprouts to the szechwan green beans. The desserts were amazing as well! A great meal, you will not be disappointed. But beware it is VERY pricey. My lobster tail was $75.00 alone. Enjoy!"

  • "Being that this restaurant is in La Jolla I thought it would be "stuffy" but instead it was mellow, quiet and just what we were looking for on a Sunday. The bar was cozy, the prices there made us want to just stay in there, but we did go to the dining room. Loved the booths, very comfy, plenty of room. The lights could have been dimmer, but otherwise the ambience was very pleasing to the eyes. The food was fantastic, the bass was the best I have ever tasted, I wanted to go watch the chef prepare it! the crab was better than I thought it would be."
