Diner Reviews
  • "My favorite spot for exquisite seafood. First class all the way."

  • "Truluck's has an outstanding menu. My wife and I had fish for our main course and both were excellent. We dined outside which was okay, not great ambiance but more functional. I would rate this restaurant highly for special occasions, too high for me for everyday week dining."

  • "As in the past, the service was excellent. The Stone Crabs were wonderful. Salads and side dishes are large and can be shared. Great wine selection. You never feel rushed."

  • "My husband and I come here almost every Wednesday night...they have a wine special 50 bottles of wine 50% off, It's a great way to try expensive wines! They have a gentlemen who plays the piano and sings a variety of songs. Great fish dishes and large sides. The best Stone crabs and King Crab Legs!"
    Dined on 4/9/2014
  • "The all you can eat crab legs drew me in to this restaurant. I was disappointed that they were served cold and on ice, but the server explained that the type of crab was best served cold...didn't meet my expectations. Had I known that, I would have ordered a steak."

  • "I was celebrating my wife birthday, but the table next to us, they made a loooot of noise and nobody (people of the restaurant) told that this is a restaurant for all the people!!!! And we require respectful as the other parties. So please take care of that situations!!! In the other hand, the food and wine was great!! The waiter excellent and kind!!!"

  • "No enough space to write a decent review, so here are the bullet points: Supposed to be #1 rated restaurant in all of Ft Lauderdale. Went for my birthday. Supposed to have the BEST Stone Crab in Florida. Stone crab was almost tasteless. The best I've had was at the Pelican Resort Sunday Brunch (all you can eat). Very disappointing crab at Trulucks. My partner ordered a salad. Whoever made it LOVES olive oil. That's about all I could taste. When dinner came, my asparagus likewise tasted like solid olive oil. They need more training on how to season side dishes. My sea bass was great - but the topping made it a $12 dish. So sad. Wish I never had the topping. They did NOTHING for my birthday. Not even a thank you card."

  • "not super impressed. Food was tasty but lacked imagination or a wow-factor."

  • "Fabulous seafood in a lovely setting. Piano musician in bar an interesting addition. Attentive service."

  • "Thirty minutes to first crab claw. Each order got smaller! Freshness was not great like my last visit."

  • "My spouse and I visited on a Monday night and enjoyed the all-you-can-eat stone crab special. It was pricier [probably] than most people's average meal out but like their commercial on TV says, it was a "fair price" for the amount of stone crab we ate. The drinks were perfect and came fast and our server was very friendly. We had no complaints. Just as soon as we can get a babysitter, we'll be back again!"

  • "The ambiance and service are the only things I'd wholeheartedly recommend. The food was good, but not excellent by any stretch. If the prices were a bit more reasonable, I could recommend this restaurant. But my $39 was worth $29, and my girlfriend's trout was about $10 overpriced as well. I was shocked that the chocolate bag dessert was $15. The chocolate wasn't very good and the cake inside tasted stale. The oysters, while a tad pricey at $36/dozen, were delicious. Overall, a nicely decorated restaurant with good service, but the food wasn't tasty enough to command those prices. It was good, but for those prices should be great."

  • "This restaurant is outstanding, both for food quality and service. Not inexpensive, but well worth the money. Ambiance very nice, dark but not overly so, vibrant from bar area music but not overpowering. Food and service was excellent, the staff is very attentive and informative on menu items. Service was paced just right, not slow and not rushed and menu selection was diverse with an emphasis on seafood. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone not budget minded, either for a special occasion or just a very nice dining experience. Their attention to detail is incredible, I got a personal phone call from the restaurant the day after we dined there asking me if I had enjoyed the restaurant."

  • "We had a terrific evening in terms of the total package. A little pricey but worth it for a special evening."

  • "Went for a friend's birthday and loved it! The waiter was like a mind reader and understood what we wanted...can't wait to go back andorder just seafood..the filet was insane!"

  • "After a cruise, we decided to eat here for their all-you-can-eat Stone Crabs night. Listed as best in area. A lot of high rollers come here. We saw Rolls Royces, Maybachs, etc. The special is $79 for medium claws, 1 side and choice of soup or salad. We got the badly prepared Caesar's salad. Whole leaves with bad dressing, shaved Parmesan and 2 white anchovies not incorporated in the dressing. Not good. We ordered crab mac & cheese each and got crab fried rice and the mac. The mac was tasteless and dry. The rice was very tasty and spicy. The crab claws were not good. I have never had them before, but if this is the best, I don't want them. Cheaper to order them individually for the amount we ate. Sauce weird. Desserts huge, good"

  • "My husband and I were in a business trip and decided to go to Truluck's for dinner just the two of us. I was at this restaurant last year and it was fantastic. Everything for dinner was really awesome. Seafood was extremely fresh and the drinks and deserts were great. Just wish we could have a Truluck's in NJ. Definitely will be back the next time we go to Florida."

  • "Wonderful as usual!!!!! Don't miss the experience."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "We have dined at this and other Truluck's before and keep coming back to this one. The food and service are great, and the ambiance is very pleasant, unless you are seated in the dining room too close to the bar. It can be a bit noisy there with the live entertainment (solo pianoist/singer) if you are trying to carry on a quite conversation. All in all a very good restaurant, however. Further, they always telephone the day after we dine there to follow up on our experience and to ensure we were happy with everything."

  • "Waiter too talkative and not able to speak to wines outside his comfort zone...bias in both food recommendations and wine though appreciate he acknowledged as much to his credit....though this left us wondering..... Next night also in Ft Lauderdale but at Johnny V's was better....all round"

  • "I was a guest of friends from out of town so I suggested Trulucks, for seafood. we were expecting a fine dining experience ( I am a chef and it was my day off ) the food was just average . our entrees arrived as we were half way through our first course and. so returned to the kitchen for 15 min.,when the entrees were brought back we weren't expecting much. my cioppino was below average , a thin watery broth, a handful of overcooked shriveled up shellfish, tiny overcooked shrimp and dried out crabmeat ,..hot on top and cold underneath ( heat lamp ) If It were not for the fact I was the guest of friends I would have complained but none of us wanted to further spoil the evening ,. overpriced for average food and nonchalant service ."

  • "My hubby & I dined here for our anniv 6 mos ago & had a great dinner. We returned last week for date night. The food was not good at all! Ambience & service was great. I had the halibut based on the server's recomm & my husband ordered the grouper. Both were overcooked! The halibut was charred on one side & dry on the inside! For an extra $5 I got crab fried rice & it tasted like something out of a box. We ordered the coconut cream pie-terrible. The server had told us it was sugar free but never imagined it would be so bad. When we told him it was terrible, he said that it is more for diabetics & is 100% sugar free-crust, the filling & topping. Knowing the we would never have ordered it. He took it off our bill. We will not be returning."

  • "Nice place. Good food. They take customer satisfaction seriously.Music too loud during the "happy hour"; once that is over, the noise level is fine."

  • "Lovely outdoor patio more casual but wonderful on a warm evening. Only negative-sometimes the hostess can't handle all the phone calls & arriving guests all at the same time otherwise there's a wait to be seated-she needs assistance."
