I've been here twice now, and while my visits are usually a few years apart, I do that for a very important reason: I like to keep this place special. The food is excellent and the service is above and beyond each and every time. We dined outside both times, so I cannot comment on how things are inside, but I would expect the mood to be on the peaceful side. I will definitely dine inside next time just for the experience. The staff is friendly and they'll even call you the next day just to make sure you had a pleasant experience! In my reservation I indicated it was a special occasion ( my daughters birthday ). We sat inside and were seated immediately upon checking in with the friendly hostess. Our waiter, Randy, was awesome! Our glasses were never empty, his recommendations were excellent, and he surprised us with an anniversary dessert, which was incredible! We will definitely come back to this restaurant and we will highly recommend to our family and friends! I usually go for the stone crabs but this time I had the Alaskan King Crab legs. It was enormous, sweet, tender - better than lobster or any other crab I have ever had. Service was outstanding. If I even hinted that anything was not simply perfect, the staff was tripping over themselves to make it better. My companion had the filet and he loved it. Cooked to perfection, simple and delicious. The lobster bisque was well prepared as was the caesar salad. The tuna was perfect as well as the other fish. The 7oz filet mignon was charred on the outside and between medium rare and medium. The asparagus bernaise, sechuan string beans and sautéed spinach were superb. The garlic mashed potatoes were very good as well. The wine price was on the high side for the same winery and vintage reserve wine we drink. . When they mentioned fish, I immediately thought of Truluck's. Although their menu has far more than fish, past experience made me think this would be a good choice. Was it ever! We had stone crabs as an appetizer and, well, there is just no reason for us to drive to Miami Beach and go to Joe's again. They were just as good - including the mustard. Our salads, main courses (we all got something different) were among the best ever. And the carrot cake for desert was hands down the best ever - anywhere. Thanks, Mark, for suggesting it. Using Open Table is always a good idea since restaurants' reservations can be made on line. Truluck's has a nice web page so we could view the menu BEFORE arriving. We ate inside, and the nice thing was that the space between tables was generous, so we weren't talking above the next table's conversation. Our waiter was attentive to start, and our meal came without a long wait. Service throughout the meal lagged a bit; we had to flag down waiters for additional butter, more stone crab sauce, and in the end, nobody thought to distribute a wet-nap for our hands after a big stone crab dinner. Appreciate the consistent service and food preparation, quality and presentation. Enjoyed being served by new waiter BOBBY W., who was gracious, professional, unobtrusive. Dined with two out of town guests, both who live on upper East side of NYC and are not new to better restaurants. They were both impressed. Date night menu has recently been changed, tried the broiled scallops, and they were yummy. I never eat steak, one guest had the smaller cut filet mignon and loved it. The trout almandine on date night menu is another great choice. My mother and I split the salt and pepper calamari and the miso-glazed sea bass. The portions are huge. We ordered a crab cake, steamed broccoli, and wilted spinach to accompany the entree, but we took them all home, and half of the entree. The crab fried rice that came with the sea bass was divine. We each ordered a dessert with the knowledge that we would take them both home. We ordered a sugar-free coconut Creme pie (sweetened with z-sweet) and a bag of chocolate (a paper bag shaped chocolate filled with almond pound cake and fresh berries) both were delicious.
