Truluck's Seafood, Steak and Crab House - Boca RatonFATHER'S DAY DINNEROne of our daughters took my wife and me to dinner at Trulucks on Saturday night for a wonderful dinner. The table was ready when we arrived, the staff was very welcoming.
We really enjoy being near the music, it adds a certain liveliness to the evening without blocking out conversation.
The food was outrageously good, we all had something different; the desert was over the top good.

Excellent service by Sabrina who provideed good suggestions and has a very pleasant manner. Manager Greg ensured wonderful dining experience with two visits to our table. Pacing of meal was spot on with all dishes arriving directly after preparation (nothing had been held under a heat lamp) Lovely ambiance with comfortable leather booths, low lights and live piano music in the background from the pianist in the bar area. Outdoor tables are a good choice as well if the weather cooperates. Choice of either a white or a black napkin on table for each diner shows great attention to detail. Awesome desserts! We ordered a glass of wine and the waiter said today was a special day and for the cost of two glasses we can have a bottle which was great. Good wine list. The sea bass and grouper dishes were great and the service was timed perfectly. Since we were celebrating a birthday the manager cam over and asked if everything was to our satisfaction and comped us a delicious desert. Nice atmosphere and good service. I will definitely return.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMNot seated fast enoughWaitress tried- she was nice- couple across from us (2) knew each other and were somewhat rude with their conversations and noise level (that's a Boca issue not a restaurant issue). When we entered we had to wait longer than usual to be seated- when passing the piano- the singer didn't even attempt a welcoming eye contact...
The food was good but I did have to make suggestions to the chef via the waitress- offer sauces on the side.
They remembered our occasion- that was nice. 4 out of 5 stars, but did not make it to our new "favorite" spot, but did make top 15.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Food, Average ServiceThe Food quality was good. The service however had room to improve, the waitress we had had an indifferent attitude, my out of town guests mentioned couple times " No wonder, this is south Florida" She was not rude, just not nice, did the job, and that's about it. I've been here twice now, and while my visits are usually a few years apart, I do that for a very important reason: I like to keep this place special. The food is excellent and the service is above and beyond each and every time. We dined outside both times, so I cannot comment on how things are inside, but I would expect the mood to be on the peaceful side. I will definitely dine inside next time just for the experience. The staff is friendly and they'll even call you the next day just to make sure you had a pleasant experience! I have always been berry happy with my experience. Unfortunately I have to agree with the food critic from the sun sentinel. The physical plan is still great but our order was lost so our meal was delayed. The waiter apologized and upgraded our desert. The trout I ate, , although good, was not excellent as in the past. It was my birthday as I noted on my reservation, but noone mentioned this or put a candle on the cake we ordered. I have always received a followup call the day after to get feedback, but am still waiting. I hate to see this restaurant decline. I usually go for the stone crabs but this time I had the Alaskan King Crab legs. It was enormous, sweet, tender - better than lobster or any other crab I have ever had. Service was outstanding. The garlic mashed potatoes were very good as well. The wine price was on the high side for the same winery and vintage reserve wine we drink. . When they mentioned fish, I immediately thought of Truluck's. Although their menu has far more than fish, past experience made me think this would be a good choice. Was it ever! We had stone crabs as an appetizer and, well, there is just no reason for us to drive to Miami Beach and go to Joe's again. They were just as good - including the mustard. Our salads, main courses (we all got something different) were among the best ever. And the carrot cake for desert was hands down the best ever - anywhere. Thanks, Mark, for suggesting it. Using Open Table is always a good idea since restaurants' reservations can be made on line. Truluck's has a nice web page so we could view the menu BEFORE arriving. We ate inside, and the nice thing was that the space between tables was generous, so we weren't talking above the next table's conversation. Our waiter was attentive to start, and our meal came without a long wait. Service throughout the meal lagged a bit; we had to flag down waiters for additional butter, more stone crab sauce, and in the end, nobody thought to distribute a wet-nap for our hands after a big stone crab dinner.
