True Midtown KitchenJazz Brunch with a punchTrue Midtown kitchen has been evolving since it took over the space of the previous restaurant, The Bakery. They now have a Prix Fixe jazz dinner about once per month. We attended the first jazz brunch on Mother's Day, and the musical group had been pared down to a trio of piano, bass, and the excellent vocalist Amy True. The service was very good. The food was a little off, though, and my steak and eggs came with undercooked meat and overcooked poached eggs. I think it will be better in the future when they work the kinks out, since the dinner menu generally is reliable, and we always enjoy the music at the jazz dinners. Definitely a great addition to the midtown Mobile dining scene, with a jazzy twist from time to time. Look it up!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful AtmosphereThe waiter was very knowledgable and made very good suggestions. Everyone made my kids feel welcome and important. The food was delicious. The kids loved the atmosphere and the way the waiter listened to and included them.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFine dining in MobileMy family has been traveling to Mobile for the past four years to visit while our son attended college there. We always enjoyed the local restaurants but never as much as we did on this trip. We just went back for his graduation and found new restaurants in the city which could be described as "fine dining" establishments. Our experience at True Midtown Kitchen was wonderful. Staff was very attentive, friendly and professional. Food was delicious and innovative.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFoodie destinationFinally a restaurant fit for foodies in Mobile. Excellent regionally sourced and styled creative cooking. Casual, comfortable and friendly. After trying it last fall for dinner we have returned for lunch twice and dinner again this time. Being that we live in New Orleans that is a hardy recommendation.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Mobile ExperienceFrom a Foodie from Chicago who travels a lot. We wanted a local Mobile, AL experienced while in town on business. Had an enjoyable time sitting at an outdoor table and good food.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMBest resturant in MobileI cannot say enough good about the food, dinner choices, value for food and service. The appetizers were great and very appealing for Mobile. Must try the smoked chicken and dumplings OMG. The pecan pie was so good we ditched the birthday cake we brought with us for the event. Located in the old Smith bakery building on Dauphin Street adds historic atmosphere...and if you go for a birthday be sure Richard True sings it!!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
