  • "Incredible food - I so much miss the food from Turkey and this is my first find where I can say the food truly represents Turkey - with just a bit of a "fancier" spin to it. The Feta Cigars hit the spot - almost reminded me of a spin on Burek which I so loved to eat in Turkey (although I am not a sweet person, rather savory, so I asked for a "tomato" type dip instead of the honey - perfect). The Manti was identical to what you get in Turkey. The Grilled Calamari was amazing - but a bit spicy so beware!"

  • "I moved here from New York and one of my favorite go to restaurants there was Turkish, so it was really great to find a substitute here. The quality of their ingredients is amazing as is the creativity of their spices, this is definitely amongst my top 5 favorite restaurants in SF!"

  • "I've now been to Troya twice, and both times loved the food. A perfectly balanced mediterranean menu, and good service. A solid place to eat any day or night of the week!"

  • "We've eaten in the Troya on Clement and we much preferred this Troya on Fillmore. The food was excellent and good for sharing - we started with brussel sprouts, egg plant salad and cauliflower, then shared the salmon kabob and had one dessert. Service was very good. Only complaint is that the tables are very close together."

  • "The food was a bit slow in coming out of the kitchen, but otherwise all was as I expected as per my past visits-superb food and service."

  • "As your records will show, I have dined several times at Troya during the past year and quite enjoyed it…this time it was not a pleasant experience. Even tho they were not as busy as usual, we had to continue to f'lag down our waiter to get service, which didn't bode well for a great evening…he didn't know information about the dishes on the menu…then they didn't have any decaf for cappuccino. When we asked for change for larger bills, he told us that they didn't have a cash register…no one said goodbye to us...all of this added up to a huge lack of professionalism…and a bad taste in my mouth."

  • "Troya delivered everything I want in a restaurant - wonderful dishes I couldn't or wouldn't make at home. Exploring the mezes is a real treat. The friendly, patient staff adds to the experience."

  • "This place has great food and and wonderful wine list. The Pinot Noir bottle selection from Oregon's Willamette valley shouldn't be missed. I have been twice and all menu items have been well received."

  • "Lovely little lunch spot on Fillmore. Limited but interesting menu with good vegetarian options."

  • "I really like Troya, my only complaint is that it gets a little expensive once you've had some wine, several mezes, etc. The food is good, as is the service."

  • "I've been happy with service, food, wine, ambiance every single time I dine here. I do think some of the portions are too big for starters but that's fine. I willbe back often."

  • "I thought the quantity of food didn't match the price or cost ?"

  • "If you flinch at my title, you'll understand my one complaint. Our server was charming. We had a great table in back next to a wall, so we could hear each other. The food was very tasty, and appealing. However, I had to intervene twice to save our little plates from being removed, because we hadn't finished our appetizers. Ultimately, I was overruled by a wait staff person who spoke to me as if I was a child, explaining he had to put our main courses out, and we would have to use those plates to finish our appetizers. Please wait until everyone is finished before removing plates, etc...otherwise, it's disruptive and ruins the threads of conversation and conviviality."

  • "We went for brunch on a Sunday around 11:30. our food arrived well before our drinks (coffee and oj). to be fair, we were warned that the coffee still needed to be brewed and juice needed to be squeezed, which was fine. But the coffee actually never arrived at all even though my friend was given a cup and cream. one of the three servers we had was very apologetic and nice about it, but it was too little too late. food was excellent, but the service wasn't on the same level. the server(s) were awkward and never asked how our food was or if we needed anything else. It took us 20 minutes to get the check at the end (there were maybe 3 other groups in the restaurant). I'll definitely go back to Troya, just not the one on Fillmore."

  • "The entrees are good, but you can make a meal of the meze. Don't miss the mini ravioli."

  • "Troya has a winning combination of well prepared food highlighted by attention to fresh produce and servers who aim to please, but...the tables are on top of one another the noise level is close to defining, and parking almost impossible so go to their Clement St. location and enjoy a equally savory meal in a setting that does greater justice to Troya."

  • "As a long time customer of the original Troya on Clement, I really enjoy the mix of old Troya comforts with new innovations in Turkish cuisine. The mezes change seasonally, and the brussels sprouts and cauliflower were both simple and perfect winter dishes. We also tried the caesar salad, which put a fun twist on a classic dish with the kassari cheese. The desserts were also a highlight and perfect to share with a group."

  • "The menu is perfect; the wine list ideal for the cuisine."

  • "Troya is a gem. It is neighborhood informal with excellent food and service. For those of us who love Turkish food it provides ample opportunity to indulge, from the meze plates through the desserts. The spicing is authentic and takes me back to some of the finest restaurants in Ankara and Istanbul. I only wish it had a full liquor license so it could offer some good Turkish Raki (Ouzo in Greek) with the meze. One other thing I would add to experience is a bit more offerings of Turkish wine and, maybe, a bit of lokum (Turkish delight) with the bill."

  • "The food was fine, but, $14 for three small dollops of hummus? $18 for two lamb kebabs with three cubes of overcooked lamb? Nope. Good bread served with the hummus, and great location."

  • "There are plenty of restaurant options on Fillmore Street but this is by far one of my favorites. Amazing variety of small plates - my boyfriend and I can easily fill up on these without feeling guilty for trying multiple items on the menu, and we still end up with a reasonable bill after a few drinks as well. Great place for a date or catching up with a friend/visitor in town - not at all a loud, rowdy place but bumpin' enough that you feel like you're in both a trendy and a high-quality spot."

  • "The cucumber salad was fresh beyond words, composed before serving. My chicken kebab was tender and flavorful. The baked lamb with eggplant was an amazing hearty dish. The baklavah was different, not in a bad way but different and fresh. The only drawback was the lighting it's way too dark, we could barley read the menu or see the food!! Thank goodness it was delicious and fresh but I needed my flashlight app three times!"

  • "Great flat breads and the best Brussels sprouts that I've ever had!"

  • "The moussaka was like that I had in Turkey, but with a bechamel sauce. Rich, but delicious. And the vegetables -- we ordered the brussels sprouts and the cauliflower, and they were soooooo good! My friend had the bread with arugala and hearts of palm, and enjoyed it very much. It was actually a very light dish. I'll go back, no doubt, very soon."

  • "This was actually my third meal at Troya. Some friends were in town from WV and after a bit of discussion, we decided to go to Troya. We dined on an assortment of meze. I and all of my 3 visitors were impressed. Each and every dish we tried was excellent. The one exception was the calamari which was too chewy, although the sauce was excellent. I am looking forward to my 4th visit."

  • "We went here for my boyfriend's birthday. They were able to accommodate our group at the communal table, which worked out nicely. The food was delicious, as always. They have the best dolmas! We even brought our own cake and they were able to assist us with the candles and serving (they do charge a fee for that, but that was expected). They were very gracious and handled our requests and big group effortlessly."

  • "This restaurant can use more waitstaff. Service is slow at times. It does not help with the maitre d' spending time chatting with his friends and ignoring people standing at the door."

  • "Thumbs up for Troya. The staff was super nice and the decor was earthly yet hip. Large restaurant so could be good for a group. Menu was authentic."

  • "The food here is consistently excellent and healthy, to boot! Lots of veggie options plus some very good meatballs and kebabs. We love the roasted Brussels sprouts and this time tried the little Turkish peppers with yogurt (new to the menu, I think) which were exquisite! We then shared a flatbread with artichokes and avocado and a chicken kebab. The kebab entree consists of two skewers over a bed of chickpeas and so is easy to share. Definitely one of my Fillmore St. favorites!"
