A word from Troya Clement
Troya was known as llios or llion, a name which can be found in the epic poem, where the poet immortalized the city through mythological characters like King Priam, Hector, Paris and beautiful Helen. For centuries, this story was regarded as only myth until the ruins of the city were found in western Turkey in the mid-19th century.

At Troya, we strive to create modern Turkish cuisine with south Mediterranean influences that celebrate this glorious history. We invite you to visit us and experience our creations with one of the city's most eclectic wine list and Troya's relaxed dining room.

  • "Got seated early before the crowd arrived. Recommend that. Appetizers were mostly fried and worth it if it was good but cauliflower was a failure and left most of it on the plate. I ordered the lamb skewers and was very happy. My table partners ordered the vegetarian moussaka and the sandwich they are famous for that is cut up in rounds and they were not that good. I tasted both. Local beers great as was imports. Reasonably priced if you don't over order on the appetizers and skip dessert. Probably better restaurants for this type of food. Noisy, loud and seats too close if you arrive after 7pm."

  • "The food at Troya's is consistently very good, with light versions of the Near Eastern cuisine of Turkey. We miss the lamb moussaka, one of the best we have had anywhere, but we understand how menus have to rotate dishes from time to time. We brought a couple who adored it. Most of our dishes were vegetarian and well prepared, with mixtures of spices that always work. Recommended without reservations (but get reservations on weekends; it does fill up)."

  • "We had a wonderful server who provided a lot of accurate information about the food and what was in it, the spices, texture, flavors etc...we started with the pita bread and spreads appetizer (three wonderful items of hummus, thick yogurt and a delicious red dish i cant remember the name of) then the roasted cauliflower that was to die for and we each had a kabob, mine was super moist chicken and hers was lamb. We loved every single bite and would go back again in a ny minute."

  • "This meal was awesome. Recommend the Brussels sprouts, grilled haloumi, sailors delight beef stew, and lamb behti. They serve a decent beer list. We had the Efes Dark from Turkey and Speakeasy Prohibition. The service was friendly and not very slow, kept coming back to see if we made up our mind and didn't hurry us either. Nice to have this restaurant in our neighborhood. What gave the whole meal an extra star for us was the exotic spices that are only in Turkish food that makes this restaurant stand out from the rest of the meals we can get around there. Their chefs are well-trained and the recipes use the spices to the fullest to bring out the maximum Turkish flavors. We'll be back often!"

  • "we came here with our 7 month old and it was too noisy for him. use to be our fave restaurant and we wanted to take out baby there for the first time. either owners or chefs changed and the food is not the same, menu is significantly smaller and so are the portions. don't think we will be going there for a while if at all. too bad I really loved loved their food..."

  • "We love Turkish food! We'd been to Turkey, tried many Turkish eateries in different countries,and last week driving through this SF neighborhood thought we were in luck running across the Troya.Turned out, it was not our lucky day.We ordered soup (split pea) of the day - it was watery, the chicken kebab came overcooked and very dry, with small amount of chickpeas on the bottom of the plate. Sardines were promised to be served with green salad -i only got couple of wilted leaves.Pitta chips were served dry with no oil or hummus accompaniment.We informed our server that we were in a hurry at the very beginning- it did not help!The wait was long even for a cup of soup (which obviously was not made to order), and after it for our main dishes."

  • "I absolutely love Troya! Although parking in this neighborhood can be a bit of a pain, I think it's worth a trip out to the Inner Richmond to eat here. The food is so balanced and delicious, but never leaves you feeling heavy. The service is so attentive but not pushy, and everything comes to your table sizzling hot with minimal wait. Troya is an absolute gem!"

  • "There's no "Wow" factor but not bad either. The portions were on the small side whether it be appetizer or entrée. We had two appetizers of crispy brussel sprouts and zucchini cakes which were tasty but small. Then had the yellowtail kabobs and lamb kabobs followed by baklava for dessert. Must admit the baklava was delicious though. However, we left there still hungry. Service was spotty probably due to us using a voucher. It's a definite maybe for me."

  • "I've been to this restaurant several times before and really enjoy the grilled sardines, the beat salad and this time we had the Yakut (?) Turkish wine and really enjoyed that. They discontinued the lamb chops so had a lamb type stew and the lamb kebabs on a bed of chickpeas. Everything was tasty but the stew was tepid in temperature. I also remember that issue on another occasion with a similar type dish. We needed to order something to offset the flavors so ordered the cucumber salad which was delicious as contrast to everything else. The service is usually so friendly and warm, but perhaps just after the holidays we are all a little tired or with less energy. But no big complaints there. Overall delicious flavors!"

  • "The staff is friendly and helpful, the ambiance is nice, and the food is very good at Troya Clement. I have eaten there a number of times, and the quality of the food is consistently excellent and reasonably priced, although the menu is rather limited. I have special dietary needs (I can't eat gluten or nuts) and the staff has always been accommodating. I especially enjoy the grilled halloumi appetizer and the marinated chicken kebab. And for dessert, the chocolate pot de creme is fantastic! I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "I was looking forward to Troyat because one of my favorite places is Turkish Kitchen in Berkeley. Troya seemed more "upscale" , but as it turned out, the food left a lot to be desired. The beyti was hard. Not sure why, but the plate arrived piping hot to the touch, while the food on the plate was just luke-warm. Was the beyti prepared in advance? or even worse - frozen and reheated? The chicken kababs and the mousakka were just ok. The chicken cuvec was delicious, creative and very well prepared. The prices were a bit high and the servings small . The service was great and the people working there were very friendly, but I think the next time I want turkish food, I will head over to Berkeley."

Service was simply outstanding for our party of 7: attentive, instant, very quick food delivery, yet not 'hoovering'. We came down from Sonoma County to imbibe and out of all the San Francisco restaurants available to try we'd definitely go here again (this was our 2nd time as a group)."

  • "We both were in love with the mediterranean salad and the lamb moussaka. We fancy ourselves connoiseurs of moussaka, and Troya's is one of the best. Unfortunately, the management has decided to eliminate our two favorites. :-( It happens everywhere, of course. And we remain hopeful they will both be brought back. In the meantime, we will continue to return to enjoy some of the best Turkish food we have had anywhere. Warm, kind service, well presented dishes, great flavors. And a very comfortable, informal setting. Aside from the lament at the passing of our cherished favorites, we recommend it without reservation (although getting reservations in the evening on a weekend night is highly recommended)."

They have the absolute BEST brussel sprouts (carmelized perfectly) and the most amazing Vegetarian Moussaka I've ever had. I'm not a vegetarian and I didn't miss the lamb at all. The flavors were perfectly blended and everything our table ordered was wonderful."

  • "Moderate prices with good ambiance. Menu was a little short and meat heavy for we two pescatarians. The ahi tuna shish kabobs were tasty. We ordered an appetizer that they said was late in coming so they didn't charge us for it. We hadn't even noticed it being late so that has to be commended as amazing service. All in all an enjoyable experience."

  • "Our favorite dish is now only served as a special on Fridays?! We were bummed. However, there are plenty of other fine dishes to choose from and choose we did. The lamb chops are awesome in their bed of rice and veggies (featuring melt in your mouth eggplant) - even if it was a little overcooked (lamb should be a bit red). The falafel was pretty dry. The lentil soup was very good. All in all I haven't had anything I was terribly displeased with, just wish they didn't get rid of their mix and match skewers ($15 for a plate of meat skewers is a bit much in my opinion)."

  • "Our dining experience at Troya Clement was wonderful. All of the food was fresh, healthy and flavorful. We chose a South American wine that paired nicely with the grilled ahi tuna kebab. We went on a Thursday night when it wasn't busy, so our noise level rating may not be accurate for weekend dining. Pleasant staff, vegetarian friendly, clean restaurant and romantic yet casual ambiance. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends."

  • "My husband and I have been trolling restaurants on Clement for years, but hadn't ever tried Troya. We went on a Saturday night with our teenaged daughter and her friend, and were impressed with every part of the meal: great appetizers -- spinach pies and falafel -- beautifully arranged and perfectly hot, very well-prepared entrees, and an almost luxurious eggplant salad. We didn't have time to stay for dessert, but will next time. I am half Middle Eastern and have tried many restaurants around the Bay area that represent that part of the world, and this was among the best."
