The level of service was
outstanding. They never left the table alone through the entire meal. If we asked for more of anything they brought it and not just our waiter; the entire wait staff. Stupendous. The food was very good as well."

Excellent and unusual menu. Very
noisy, had to yell to talk. Fun anyway. Scallops with plantain chorizo was incredible."
Dined on 3/7/2014
The place is great for lunch.
First time eating here at dinner. The place was extremely loud. Had to yell to hear my guest. Ordered ceviche. Uhhhh I would hope that for $11 bucks it would have been more than a sample size. After tasting the ceviche... I was still hungry so ordered a side of rice and beans. The only good thing is that the food was out with in 10 minutes. Bad thing to that... Everything was soooooo reheated that the rice was hard and tasteless. My beans were ok. Ordered house margaritas.... Thanks for the watered down fruit drink. Over all I left disappointed."

I'm confused on why this place is
so packed all the time. The food we had was of very low quality. The meat in the dishes we had was very fatty. Bit into big chunks of fat on every dish. Won't be back."

Exceptional service throughout the
entire restaurant, keep up the excellent work."

we made reservations for late
dinner and were greeted and seated right away. the food and drinks were amazing! the restaurant was really crowded and vibrant. i will definitely come here again the next time i visit san francisco"
Dined on 2/21/2014
I ordered the pork chop. We eat
out a lot and I am usually disappointed at other restaurants that are famous for their pork chops. This was so good it tasted like a veal chop! Very thick, cooked to perfection, melted in my mouth. My husband ordered the Caldo mariscos and also was in heaven. We always love coming here and the service is super friendly and very professional."

Don't go on a Friday without a
reservation! Fortunately we had made one in advance. The food and service were absolutely spectacular; I truly can't say enough good things about Tropisueno, and we will definitely go back next time we are in the city. Everything we ate was off the charts, and every single person who worked there was incredibly polite, and thoughtful. I wasn't feeling 100% that night, and the staff noticed I hadn't eaten much and the manager came over to ask me if everything was okay, and told me he hoped I felt better on the way out. That is quality service that they actually noticed this and CARED. (My soup was fantastic, by the way. I wish I had it now!) Highest recommendation possible."

I loved my margaritas and this
places makes the best!! And Alejandro was a pleasure to talk to !"
Dined on 2/20/2014
Excellent food, though more
vegetarian options would be nice. The noise level is very high -- not surprising given that it was packed."

Dinner at Tropisueño is a real
treat. Their menu offerings are fantastic and well executed. On our last visit, the service was amongst the best I've ever received anywhere. What a great time!"

the food was really good"

My wife and I love this place!
Great food and service and right next to the Metreon. Good idea to make a reservation since they fill up fast."
Dined on 2/8/2014
What a great find! The food was
fantastic, the service was even better. Very glad I made a reservation though. People were waiting for about an hour to get in. It was quite busy but it didn't feel crowded. It was my wife's birthday and they brought her the MOST DELICIOUS cake. Sounds amazing and it is, the best part was still to come ... the bill. This was one of the cheapest meals we had in San Fran!! Our lunch down the street was pretty much the same price and it didn't come with the most amazing Margarita ever."
Dined on 2/5/2014
We had the porkchop and the
mariscos tropisueno. Both very good. House margarita was so-so. The 3 salsa sampler that comes with the chips are very good. I'd go back again. We knew to have reservations at this spot...glad we did. Was very busy, but they sat us at our reservation time and were very attentive while we waited. Enjoy"

I love this place! since my friend
introduced me to this restaurant two weeks ago, I've gone back three more times already, and every time it's great experience. with so many customers, I didn't expect they would remember me, but the hostess actually remembered my name and accommodated us. everyone is friendly here has such positive energy. It's so refreshing from the rest of the San Francisco restaurant scene where arrogance is norm. I can tell everything runs smoothly and efficiently at this place."

By far the best mexican restaurant
in the city! Always love going there. Food is amazing and the ambiance and place is very cozy. Love the decorations!"
Dined on 11/3/2013
Hard to find a decent restaurant
that's not terribly over priced by the Metreon. Food was good. Margaritas good. Price tag moderate. Works for me."
Dined on 1/25/2014
We showed up five minutes early
for a 5:45 reservation and were seated immediately. Then we had to wait way too long to have our drink order taken. Once our server showed up, the food was very good (and very filling). The drinks were light and San Francisco expensive."
Dined on 1/23/2014
Friday night was really busy.
Waited about 10 minutes after arriving for a reservation. Had a conversation with the hostess about the menu which was very helpful. Friendly, quick service once we were seated. The salsas were really tasty. Red, yellow, green. Will definitely go back for an occasion but not my everyday kind of place."
Dined on 1/17/2014
From the moment we sat down, I
could tell they wanted to turn our table quickly. We barely had a chance to review the menu before our waiter asked us whether we wanted guacamole, appetizers or a drink. I loved their chips/salsa and shrimp ceviche. The main courses were tasty as well but I hated the fact that they were lukewarm. It made me felt like my dish was prepared well in advance and simply microwaved for me. This is a great restaurant if you're in a hurry to see a movie at the Metreon across the street. Unfortunately this was a date night for me and my husband (we have a 4 month old) and I was hoping to have a bit more of a relaxed dinner."
Dined on 1/11/2014
I loved this hidden gem I stumbled
upon online when I was looking for a quiet spot to have a small birthday dinner that was affordable, high quality and easy to get to for everyone. A lot of the places downtown in the FiDi are either exorbitantly expensive or just for drinks or are impossible to get a reservation to. This one hit the spot. Ambiance was beautiful, and the food was stellar."
Dined on 1/9/2014
Found this on check please Bay
Area website and am not disappointed. Great service and food. Bar scene was bustling with activity. I tried the pear margarita which was so good! There is so much that is great about this place that I recommend just going. Busy with after work business scene on the day we went. Close to BART and shopping in downtown SF."
Dined on 1/9/2014
This place can work a group in
pretty well despite being fairly busy. Good service for sure although we did have to wait for our drinks a few times after ordering or waiting to order more. The chips a pretty greasy. It would be much better if they baked them. The salsas are great and the overall experience is worth coming back."
Dined on 12/19/2013
A decent Mexican restaurant, but
the food was nothing special. Nice atmosphere and convenient Union Square location."
Dined on 12/29/2013
The food was excellent, we ordered
Margarita's (Yum). The only complaint I have is it was a bit too noisy for my taste. More than one table around us had rather loud laughing and talking people. Our table was very wobbly and no amount of napkins seemed to fix it. Our waitress, Sarah, was excellent but I was glad to leave the noise behind an did leave satisfied with my meal."
Dined on 12/27/2013
Food wasn't the best Mexican I've
had but it's centrally located. Bar has happy hour and it's very popular so don't expect to get a drink there. Make sure all of your group is there because they won't seat otherwise. Overall good enough but there are better choices. Also, we had five in our party and were surprised that they added gratuity to the bill but I can from their online menu that it is on their menu (although I'm used to gratuity being added for slightly larger parties). They also add 3.5% to pay for worker health insurance."

This was my second time to
Tropisueno, and it was not as great as the first which was disappointing but it was still great! The hostess was curt and rude, seemed stressed. I had put in a reservation and asked to extend to +1 on the phone, but she admonished me at the door for not letting her know before hand that I needed a different arrangement. This was unfortunate, but the rest of the night fared better. The food was great - enchiladas are highly recommended, and the margaritas were delicious! Tropisueno has great drinks and a great mood for a gathering of friends or lovers, a bit of a hidden spot in the FiDi but definitely worth the try."

Chips and salsa were great but
sadly it ended there. Besides, chips and salsa is pretty hard to mess up. Very disappointed. I ordered the Tampiqueño entree and it was really BAD. The barbacoa enchilada, rice and beans that came with the entree were okay but nothing to write about. I hardly touched the Niman Ranch beef. It was so incredibly chewy and I didn't like the marinate that was used. UGH. It's so unfortunate because I was looking forward to dinner since it was our last night in SF and it was such a miss! The waiter didn't even ask how we liked anything or notice that the carne asada was untouched in order to leave room to comment. Oh well. Won't be back here again and definitely will not be recommending it to friends."

Discovered this reviewed on
website as upmarket Mexican. Was crowded but had a festive air and is centrally located. Waitress was efficient and friendly and service was quick. We enjoyed cocktails and complimentary corn chip dip. Our burritos and fajita tasted great and serving size was generous. I could have done with a bit more time to digest as I felt it was a bit rushed. But overall a good night."

I don't need to go on and on about
this resteraunt. It's solid. Good drinks (margarita with st.germains!), good food, excellent service. We will be back!"
Dined on 11/16/2013
The food, service, and drinks are
great. It's dimly lit, and loud enough that you can't hear the tables next to you. This is a great date spot. Not so much if you're going just for the food and want to see what you are eating."
Dined on 11/16/2013
Part of our group arrived early.
Table was ready and they treated us well even though 4 or our six was early. Great food!"
Dined on 11/8/2013
Some girlfriends and I came on a
Saturday night dinner. It was really packed but the staff did their best to accomodate us as fast as they could. The food was very good. Being Mexican and being raised eating Mexican food, I could tell the food was very authentic. I really like it a lot and so did my friends. If ever out downtown and ready for dinner or just a bite to eat, will definitely hit up this place!"
Dined on 11/9/2013
I absolutely love this place! Tons
of fun, great food and drinks, vibrant ambience. It's a bit loud for my taste, but it's completely worth it and I've been there several times and would definitely go back."
Dined on 11/6/2013
The food was ok, but the service
was a little less to be desired. After we finished our meal and were having our drinks and talking the waiter came by almost ever 3-4 minutes to remind us that the bill was on the table as to rush us off the table. He told us at least 7-8 times our bill was on the table. When the waiter asked how the food was, I said mine was ok, my father said his was a little dry and the waiter wasn't really listening and just cleared the table and said good and rushed off. My dad and I laughed after that."
Dined on 11/8/2013
Probably the best "restaurant"
Mexican food I've had. We were blown away by how quickly try brought our food. The only thing that seemed to be a negative were the rice and beans - they weren't as good as the rest of the food."
Dined on 11/8/2013
Good place to have dinner with the
girls, food was overall good, the chips and guac was amazing."
Dined on 11/1/2013
Had dinner with a group of 5.
Great food with high-quality ingredients. Chips and salsa were delicious. Prices are fair."
