Diner Reviews
  • "Saturday evening and "prom night" for a local school at a crowded restaurant is not when you expect it to be at its best, but Trombino's was outstanding. Short wait after our reservation time, then attentive service by Juliana, who guided us through the menu, got the modifications on our dishes to the kitchen, and took care of us through dinner, with timely refills of water, coffee and soft drink. The food was excellent, the execution by the kitchen on point, and the portions generous. The chefs know what they're doing - everyone does - and we look forward to returning."

  • "Our latest trip to Trombino's was Very good. The mussels were superb. The chicken marsala is always consistently delicious. The bistro was "bubbling" with Trombino's fans this particular Friday night. Our party of four DID NOT leave disappointed. We will be back."

  • "We went to Trombino's Bistro Italiano the other night for our anniversary & it was excellent! The food, drinks, service, ambiance were all great but there was an obnoxious table behind us where we could hear their entire & sometimes inappropriate conversation. We conversed ourselves and were just happy spending the night together, but we definitely could have done without that annoyance. I do see us returning in the future, Next time, however, we will ask to move if we have a similar party next to us."

  • "This was our first visit and will not be our last. The food was lovely, the atmosphere was pleasant and the portions were huge."

  • "This is the second time to go to this restaurant and it was absolutely wonderful both times. It makes Italian "chain" restaurants look like McDonalds! The Bellinis are fabulous, the food flavorful, the portions generous, and the prices right. It's busy but not noisy inside, and the decor gives a lovely ambiance. This family restaurant has been in Albuquerque many years, and I would recommend it heartily!"

  • "We had a wonderful experience @ Trombino's. The food was excellent, the service was great, the ambiance was perfect. The cost was a little high for a regular place to dine but, we will return for special occasions."

  • "The food was well above average with large portions. Service was outstanding. Went there to celebrate a birthday and had z great time."

  • "Very crowded on a Saturday night, but having the open table reservation was great and got seated right on time. Luscious food, as always. Crowd had a good energy. Will go again, often."

  • "The Trombine experience was everything I would expect for celebrating good friends and family. The taste experience was matched by the music and service. I would be delighted to do this on a regular basis."

  • "My wife and I chose Trombino's for St. Valentine's Day dinner because we had eaten there on one of our first dates. We were fortunate in our table, as it was tucked into a corner and very private. Waiter was good, didn't bug us and got everything right. I had the rib eye, wife had the salmon. Both were cooked right. Portions are larger than we are used to, so we left quite full. Nice wine list, I had a low end Merlot and wife had low end Sav Blanc. Both were tasty and did the job. With tip (no dessert) it was a $75 dollar dinner. We were there an hour and a half (we like to eat slow) and did not feel rushed. We dressed up, and I noticed only 1 tee-shirted patron there, so that was nice, too. I recommend Trombino's."

  • "Ordered Mahi Mahi and my date ordered Lobster Ravioli. The Mahi Mahi was over salted and the carrots were raw and uncooked. The bread was excellent, the herbs and oil were chintzy on the herbs. The overall experience would not keep us from coming back, but I was disappointed. After all, this was Trombino's, not Fastino's a fast food place. And the last thing, I had bragged on your place and felt a little let down in front of my date."

  • "Had a delightful time with a big group of people! The service was OUTSTANDING! Very attentive! Food was also delicious! The best warm bread I have ever had!"

  • "This is one of my wife's favorite restaurants. I usually pick a steak as I am not big on pasta. The pasta they serve is very good. My wife likes the spinach lasagna, the ravioli and the egg plant."

  • "My husband and I have been going to Trombino's on Sunday evening at least every three weeks for 20 years. This week we could not go on Sunday since they are closed on Super Bowl night, so we went on Friday. The restaurant was full and the noise level a bit higher than it usually is on Sundays. The food is always wonderful and the service is usually excellent. I love both the Veal and the Chicken Piccata and their Tiramisu is to die for. Even if you are too full, order one to take home with you. I have never had a dish that I did not like at this restaurant!"

  • "I've eaten at Trombino's on a number of occasions and they have never let me down. Excellent service, even during busy nights, outstanding food, and priced well for the high quality. The salad, soup, entree, and dessert were delicious! Best to eat around lunch for a quieter atmosphere or on a week night for the full romantic potential, but a pleasant atmosphere other wise. Some tables are closer than some of the members in my party were hoping for; so upon making a reservation request a quite/distant table if you are looking for such. Overall, Great Food, Good Service."

  • "We have been to this restaurant several times but feel the quality of the food is declining. This is disappointing becausr we use this place as a staple for date night. This will probably be the last time we dine there. There are far better establishments for the money."
    Dined on 1/24/2014
  • "The food was delicious. We recommend the parmesian encrusted trout and the stuffed pork chop. The bartending can be spotty depending on whom is on for the night. My wife likes cosmopolitans. The last time we went there she got a very good one; this time it was mediocre--too much lime juice. Generally a great restaurant."
    Dined on 1/18/2014
  • "The food was good, and very large portions, but we had to wait 20-30 minutes for our table even though we had a reservation for 2. I probably won't be going back for this reason alone. They were telling people without reservations 30-40 minute wait, but there shouldn't be any wait with a reservation."

  • "Had read reviews and decided, along with a friend, to give it a try. I have no complaints. However, I have no great raves either."

  • "The staff tended to our small wedding party expertly and pleasantly! They also went out of their way to have our area ready with the small wedding cakes we had delivered there earlier."

  • "For consistently superb, home-made tasting Italian food, in a nice, classy setting, Trombinos stands out. If you want mediocre, supermarket food: go to the chain restaurants."

  • "We were very impressed with Trombino's. I had the Fruitti Di Mare Or Diavolo and my husband loved the Grilled Salmon. Both dishes were excellent. Our waitress provided outstanding service, and her suggestions for wines for each entrée was spot on. We will return when ever we are in Albuquerque. This place is a real gem."

  • "Though they were running behind on honoring opentable reservations (in my case, 25 minutes behind for an 815PM time) they *did* honor the reservation, which is much more than can be said of other participants (like the Artichoke Cafe, which does so unabashedly). The food was amazing... try the stuff porkchop. The Chocolate mousse was rich and more than a couple could pack in. Great night and meal all in all."

  • "The service this time was greatly improved. Our waitress was attentive yet not intrusive. Our food was delicious I had the Chicken Scallopini and my husband had the Trout Almondine. Both dishes were hot when delivered to our table and delicious. The house white wine was light and crisp. This was a much better experience than I have had before at Trombino's. I could definitely go back again."

  • "I wish we could give this gem of a restaurant a 100+ rating. It's incredibly good for the price. Discovered our new favorite Valpolicella - 2010 Brigaldara. YOU SIMPLY CANNOT GO WRONG HERE ! ! !"

  • "I went out with a lady that says she loves pasta and naturally, Italian food came to mind. What I was looking for was Italian food and wine and a quiet, dark atmosphere. Trombino's did not disappoint on either of these fronts. Our service was great. Our waiter let us sit and enjoy our wine while we talked and got in the mood. We had a comfortable booth, just as I had asked for when we reserved on Open Table. The atmosphere was quiet (enough) and romantic. Our wine was fantastic. Our food was tasty and huge portions. I think her and I must have gotten two additional meals out of the serving. All in all, Trombino's did a fantastic job making our special night even more special."

  • "When you've lived in a town for over 40 years you tend to forget about those restaurants that have been around the same amount of time. Trombino's is one of these "forgotten" restaurants that we take for granted. We recently went there with another couple who also are long-timers here. All four of us had excellent meals that were huge--we all took home boxes for lunch the next day. The service was good as was the ambience. We'll go back again soon--if we don't forget!"

  • "The food is always wonderful at Trombino's. It reminds me of the Italian restaurants we used to go to in NY and NJ. The food is authentic and plentiful. Great selection of wines to choose from. The staff is friendly and professional. I enjoy dining in the bar as well as the restaurant."

  • "My wife and I are from the Northeast where there is a lot of good Italian restaurants. For being the southwest the Italian food was excellent and comparable to any good establishment in the Northeast with a large Italian population. If your looking for an "oasis" of Italian food in the desert this is a great place to go."
