I've been to this restaurant twice
now and have loved it. The service is great as well as the food selection. It reminded of those small intimate restaurants in France."

Romantic little spot in Chelsea;
we went for the prix fixe. Was a good value for the money. Service very good."

Not bad, but certainly nothing
special. Decent food, moderate prices. Reminded me of what we thought French restaurants were suppose to be in the '60s and '70s."

I had reservatins with a friend..
When we were seated, we could hear loud music from the restaurant next door as well as music from our own restaurant. We asked if the music within our restaurant could be turned down. The waiter told us that the next door restaurant is managed by the same person who manages Trois Canards that there was no way he would turn down either of the sound systems. We asked for the manager, who was rude and abrupt and did in fact refuse to turn down either sound system, in spite of the fact that there were only four people present in Trois Canards. Ultimately, we decided to leave and find a quieter place to eat, upon which the manager rudely told us "Yes, why don't you do that." i will never dine there again!"

This place is tiny, maybe ten
tables. As a French food lover, maybe I'm just a bit more picky. Escargot was pretty good, poulet roti good not amazing, creme brûlée? No. Just no. For some reason had SO MUCH lemon! Then my server says that's how it's supposed to be...mmmm, nope. Wines BTG not good, but I get it. Most places dont have the greatest wines BTG. The bottle list looked decent. All in all, I would go again but not for anything special, just maybe if I needed a place to grab dinner close to my office. Which is how I ended up there in the first place."

Took my daughter out for a special
dinner. We were so disappointed. We decided to share a bunch of plate. The escargot with steamed artichoke was flavorless and the "garlic sauce" was an unnatural color. The mixed greens salad with goat cheese was good but nothing special. The French onion soup was good but again over salted. We had one other dish but it didn't stay with me. Service was alright, food fair and ambiance a little kitschy"
Dined on 11/15/2013
Tho the food was a tad mediocre,
the ambience was lovely; a charming little French restaurant. The low noise level contributed to our enjoyable evening. We were dining with friends and never had to raises or voices to be heard. It would be lovely is they played French music; Edith Piaf, etc. That would contribute even more to the atmosphere! We will return."

A small room, with faux French
posters gives one a very comfortable, cozy feeling. The roast duck was perfect, with just the right amount of crispy skin and tender meat. A very nice selection of reasonably priced wines. A wonderful find for not much money."

I came here thinking it would be
really Parisian and quaint. Not so much - it had salsa music blasting and a menu that was an amalgamation of Italian/French and American foods...Strange place."
Dined on 10/20/2013
We happened to find this
restaurant and it was a really nice experience. The food was very good and we truly enjoyed the nice, quiet ambience where we could have a nice conversation and good food."
Dined on 10/5/2013
This is a lovely romantic spot for
a slow paced, relaxed & totally delicious meal. I thought the prices were also excellent for the quality & quantity of food too. The staff was friendly & very accommodating & welcoming."
Dined on 9/29/2013
My husband and I walked into a
largely empty restaurant that had music blaring. We were seated under a speaker and asked if the music could be turned down so that we could enjoy our conversation. We were told very rudely that it wouldn't be possible because the people at the bar (which were none) like the music loud. We left the restaurant immediately and will never return. A shame since this location is ideal for us."
Dined on 9/22/2013
Although this is a charming
looking restaurant, our server was unfriendly and impatient which became a major turn off. We both ordered a pre theatre prix fixe dinner as we were on our way to see a local off Bway play. I ordered the filet of sole which tasted more like cod than sole. The portion of vegetables was very small. My salad tasted like it had no dressing until I asked for some. I probably won't return because our waiter was rude."
Dined on 9/7/2013
I live in Chelsea and love this
restaurant. The service is always wonderful and the place reminds me of being in Paris. It is really charming. The food is very good and the waiter Armando is excellent. I come here at least 3X a month and would recommend it highly. I usually go for dinner but brunch is excellent."
Dined on 9/1/2013
We met out of town friends for
dinner and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The restaurant was rather empty which made it very easy for conversation. The food was delicious and well priced and the service was knowledgeable. We would return."

Went for a last dinner in NYC
prior to moving my son into college. Cute bistro atmosphere. Escargot were good, but we split 6 among the 3 of us, and one was empty! The portions of the entrees were very generous. My duck with orange sauce was very good. The stuffed roast chicken was dry. The Grand Marnier souffle tasted like a vanilla -- maybe it was a mistake. It was a pleasant evening, but would not go out of my way to come here again."
Dined on 8/17/2013
we eat here every time we come to
nyc and have never been disapointed. sole is fabulous"
Dined on 8/9/2013
Everything was excellent - the
only flaw in an impeccable evening was the very small amount of wine served for $10 glass - about half the amount we expected."
Dined on 7/29/2013
Have been here about 5 times and
always loved it. Often come for the prix fixe, since I need to get back to Jersey before dark. Was surprised that the portions were much smaller than I was used to. The hanger steak consisted of about 8 small pieces. The pate course used to have more than one piece. The food herre was always good and actually rather bistro French. I will continue to go, but was disappointed."
Dined on 7/30/2013
Very average but serviceable.
Pre-theater prix fixe very reasonable and ideally located near The Joyce Theater."
Dined on 7/30/2013
Everything on the menu is
excellent, and the specials of the day are invariably superb!"
Dined on 7/29/2013
Though the small poster-filled
room that is Trois Canards feels French, and the names of the dishes were French, there is no real Gallic flavor to the food. The wait-staff is not French, and it seems the kitchen is shared with the Italian place next door -- so it's hard to believe a French chef is behind the edible but charmless selections we had. Onion soup lacked depth; mesclun salad could have come straight from California. The duck was well-cooked but served with gluey mashed potatoes. Ten dollars bought a glass of wine from a bottle that retails for $7.99. Would not return, or recommend."
Dined on 7/26/2013
it's a perfect place for a get
together with friends."
Dined on 7/18/2013
The decor is pure French - very
nice, but why they were playing loud Spanish music is a mystery. Two of us ordered Mussels - they were dry, fishy tasting and the broth was like dish water ... the toast they served with it was burnt. One person ordered a fish dish that they said was good. The waiter offered us a free desert ... we refused. We won't be going back."
Dined on 7/19/2013
Trois Canards kitchen is twinned
with the Italian restaurant on the corner. There's nothing French here. Perhaps nothing Italian there. Our two dishes both had the same accompaniments even if one was fish, the other veal -- I suspect mashed potatoes and carrots with a dash of zucchini is what goes on every plate, a sure sign no one is interested in cuisine. Depressing. My 'special' off- menu catfish turned out to cost $5 more than salmon or sole, both on the menu. Ok, my fault, I didn't ask the price, but also, given the compartive price of the raw materials, a clear case of disrespect for the diner, of gauging. The visit left a bad taste in my mouth."
Dined on 7/17/2013
The specials of the day were
absolutely fantastic! As is my custom, I took a little bit of everything home for my husband to try, but he didn't get to eat it until the following day. My husband, not overly fond of duck, said that this meal was absolutely spectacular! The mushroom ravioli was a wonderful find, and the Grand Marnier souffle was superb!"
Dined on 7/11/2013
The food was delish, the staff was
very nice! Definitely recommend it."
Dined on 7/8/2013
Food good for the price. Perfect
place to go if you're going to the Joyce Theatre."
Dined on 7/3/2013
The waiter was awesome...one
waiter to handle all the tables, and he did it with style and grace! The place was really cute. The food was mediocre. I would not go back, and I would not recommend it to a friend."
Dined on 6/29/2013
We ordered the Filet of Sole with
tomatoes, fresh herbs, white wine and lemon. To our dismay it came with no tomatoes, no fresh herbs, and , we believe, no filet of sole. Instead it appeared to be tilapia in some sort of a chicken broth/wine sauce. It was silly of us to believe we could actually get filet of sole for 19.95 prix fix. Also the prix fix menu on their website says you get 3 courses but when we arrived they said, no, only 2 courses."
Dined on 6/17/2013
This is a small restaurant
connected to sister restaurant Tello's. If it's not too busy you are allowed to order from both menus. There is a $19.99 prix-fixe dinner between 5-7PM that is a great value - Posted on their website. The Garlic Flan with sautéed mushrooms was wonderful. Portions are large - Enough to share if you order appetizers and dessert - We took doggie bags on our first visit. The Chocolate Souffle with Grand Marnier Sauce was heavenly."

We eat dinner at Trois Canards
once or twice a year on visits to NY. It's quiet, the food is good and it's convenient to our hotel. This time we brought two friends and they agreed with my assessment of "quiet and pleasant." The service was competent but not particularly warm. Our appearances are rare, but a computer check would reveal that we turn up from time to time and a personal welcome is always nice. The entrees were excellent, so maybe this is nit-picky, but the house pate came with three crackers instead of four. A small detail, but we indicated that we would share our appetizers, and I can't imagine that an extra cracker on the plate would have been too costly a consideration. So I can't be effusive, not this time anyway."
Dined on 6/1/2013
We go there every time we are In
NYC. Never disappointing . Sole is fabulous . Escargot and artichoke special should be on the menu as a staple."
Dined on 5/26/2013
I took my wife here for our 5th
anniversary. We love to eat French food and go with the whole theme. We ordered escargot, steak, chocolate mousse and cappuccinos, all of which were very good. We had a great wine experience with the Pinot noir Bourgogne. It pairs very well with meat dishes. The prices for everything were quite reasonable for a special occasion. We will visit again."
Dined on 5/22/2013
Wonder roast duck which is hard to
find. Chocolate souffle is a treat."
Dined on 5/23/2013
Pretends to be an authentic French
place but it's not... food is decent but it's a confused menu, a mix between cheesy French dishes like Escargots and Pasta with Provencal Prawns? just weird."
Dined on 5/19/2013
My grandson who like me likes
French food enjoyed the meal very much, as did I. The escagots were perfect, soft and garlecky as they shoud be. We had tickets for a dance performance at the Joyce so we had the excellent , and extremely well priced pre-fix dinner. Every dish was well cooked and nicely presented. I had often been to Trois Canards at their old place on 8th avenue, and although this venue was much smaller, the food was as good as ever.C'est avec plaisir que nous vous avons retrocé"
Dined on 5/9/2013
The plate was so hot that the sole
that i ordered was still cooking so that it became basically mush- i should have sent it back."
Dined on 4/29/2013
A small cozy restaurant with good
French food. My friends and I all enjoyed the spread. We all agreed that we would definitely come back. The duck breast special was cooked perfectly, medium rare!"
Dined on 4/25/2013
Classic French bistro fare, nicely
prepared and not overpriced, served in an attractive though extremely small space. The experience is somewhat marred by overly loud music, as if the owner was trying to capture the bar scene, which is somewhere else."
