Trius Winery RestaurantFabulous spot - Niagara on the LakeWe have dined at Trius many times over the years for lunch, and yesterday's lunch did not disappoint. Although it was raining and their beautiful outdoor patio was closed, we sat by the window and watch the grey skies close in over the vineyard. The view is spectacular rain or shine. My husband enjoyed his filet slider and lobster roll, accompanied by the most delicious garlic fries that were crisp to perfection. My whitefish was nicely seared and accompanied by wine infused beets, quail egg, and seafood sausage. Different and very tasty. For dessert we shared a cheese plate highlighting great Canadian selections. The young server was very good. We chose from a large selection of their own wine. We had the tasting menu with the unscripted wine pairing- the food was impecable.
The pairing did wonders for the wine and he food.

We knew the wine was good, since it was the wine that was served at our wedding, however, the food was the real star of the show. I would love to make several trips a year to enjoy the wealth of deliciousness Trius has to offer. Quick note: If you are like me, and not a huge wine connoisseur, then Trius is the place for you. The view was spectacular. The 3 of us each ordered a different lunch plate, and each was presented beautifully. Each mouthful provided a different tantalizing taste. I was surprised that the offerings were really not all that enticing to either myself or my dining companion. We finally settled on the Rib-eye from the 5 course menu. We could not have eaten 5 courses but the waiter seemed to understand that the dishes that were offered on the regular menu didn't appeal to us. He then said he could offer us just the Rib-eye with the side dishes as it was for two people. I must say the food was delicious! We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the waiter, John, could not have been more accommodating. Dinner at HIllebrand was wonderful as always. Brad took very good care of us and was just the right amount of chatty. The food was great as well, though this time we have to say we enjoyed the 3 courses leading up to the main a bit more than the main itself (shared 22 ounce steak). Very accommodating kitchen helpful to vegetarian. Five Ontario cheese plate exceptional with unique sides. Locavore to the max. Service is above average and formal. Finding the restaurant is absurd. Last building on left, at end. Sign under trellis, hidden in the shadows. Finally, the $95 tasting menu and $45 surcharge per person, if you share the tasting menu, makes one feel that this is not only exceptional dining but pricing as well. In truth it is not. We had been here before and it was as good if not better the 2nd time. Had the patio all to ourselves for most of dinner - great view of the sunset and their vineyard.
Great service from knowledgable and friendly staff and excellent local wine pairings.

A complimentary glass of bubbly on arrival and 3 generous measures with each course. The food was mostly good and very well presented, only complaint would be temperature of main courses which arrived at the table only tepid. Great service and knowledgeable sommelier.
