The service is excellent. The corn bread was outstanding. The house wine is good, but pricey at $12 a glass. The food is good to excellent, but the portions are small. The scallop appetizer was the highlight of the meal, but $16 is a lot to pay for TWO scallops. The salad was OK, but nothing special. The branzino was good, but not great, again a tiny portion. The vegetables plated with the branzino were excellent. At $5 a cup, the coffee should have been exceptional, it was merely average. I give the bread, scallops & vegetables 5 stars. I give the salad, main courses & coffee a much lesser rating.

If you like your French food loaded with sauces and butter, this is the place for you. Salads were absolutely weighed down by too much dressing. My sole , nicely cooked, was swimming in butter. My daughter's veal chop was dry and oddly off flavor. If the mashed potatoes had any truffle oil in them, as advertised, it wasn't detectable by taste. The restaurant is pretentious, but at least it isn't also overpriced. Almost no tables were filled on a Friday night.

My wife and I had a wonderful lunch before a Wednesday theater matinee (The Best Man). The service was very good and professional, the food was fantastic (salmon, short ribs) and the overall experience contributed to a wonderful day in the city.

Elegance and class, and not an outrageous drain on your wallet. Close enough to Broadway to catch a show, but minus the chaos. A nice off the beaten track getaway in NYC.

We were graciously seated at one of the 12 comfortable tables in the rear room. The setting is intimate, not crowded. The lighting is warm, not eye-straining dim. The sound of jazz greats is audible, not overpowering. The staff is perfection; highly attentive to your every need, yet utterly unobtrusive. Quiet visits from both the captain and chef were appreciated. The food is magnificently prepared and beautifully presented. We enjoyed the lobster bisque with acorn squash and roasted apples, the salad of baby lettuce with beets, goat cheese, pistachios and rum soaked raisins, the crispy bronzino with celery root puree, chantarelle, champagne beurre blanc, and zucchini chips, with refreshing desserts of pineapple sorbet and fresh berries.

Triomphe was the best restaurant we've been to so far in NYC. Food is really good though not excellent. As it's rather low priced for that quality I'll definitely be back. It's a gem with nice romantic and quiet atmosphere and professional waiters.
