Overall we had a positive experience. The restaurant has a great vibe.We ordered six different dishes and they were all tasty. Our server was a combination of rude and inattentive. We sat with closed menus for quite some time as she passed us by several times before we flagged her down to take our orders. Only those who ordered alcohol received their drinks, while the others had to request soft drinks from the bus boy. Interestingly gratuity is automatically included for parties of 6 or more....

We have been meaning to try Trio for a while now, based on recommendations from friends. We had the chance to go this past Saturday night. We scored a table outside and settled in for what we hoped would be a low key relaxing dinner...and it was! The wait staff was attentive and friendly and the food was superb. I had the beet salad special and the stuffed pasta special and they were both delicious and my partner had the sausage pizza, which he declared delicious! They messed up on his second beer but didn't charge for it, which was nice, but not expected. I highly recommend Trio and we will be back for sure!

I have been at Trio several times, obviously because I like it. However there is one small detail I would like to call attention to: despite the waiter is polite and knowledgeable about the menu he is a little pushy when it comes to offering drinks and/or foods...it gives the feeling that he is 'selling'...the higher the bill, the better his tip? Next time I return there I will be careful ... The music volume is a bit too much...

This is truly a neighbourhood gem fit for foodies. Lovely family-run restaurant and the food is consistently good. Specials are always wonderful. When the weather is good it's great to sit out on the patio and people watch with a cold glass of vino. Our 9 year old loves the gnocchi. We're lucky this is in our hood!

I always love fresh pasta, every dish at this restaurant is simply delicious! Fully recom'd but ... not the waiter (who seems to work there now for a while). He wasn't rude but the body language was so ...obvious: I had to waved 3 times to get his attention! The first 2 he passed by but clearly pretended not to hear me. Other patrons gave "the look" but the waiter just merrily walked on?!! We were not demanding or unkind. I've dined out enough of time to know their language. Really too bad as at lunch time there is only one waiter so patrons cannot even ask for a different server!

Seven of us went to celebrate a 60th birthday. We started with sharing a couple of appetizers. The server brought plates for everyone. They were cleared off and all of the mains were served together. I had lamb chops with mushroom risotto. Cooked perfectly. Our table also had the Veal Chop, Steak, Seafood pasta, fish, pizza and a pasta. All of the food was terrific. The bill came to approximately $50 per person with wine and a dessert. We were the last to leave the restaurant but were not rushed out. A great experience.

Took quests there to celebrate a birthday. (I wrote on my reservation and it was totally ignored.) The noise factor was so bad we had to change tables and ask them to turn down the music. Everyone enjoyed their meal although it took a long time before we were asked what we wanted.

  • Good Food But Pricey....

I appreciate those restaurants that tell you the prices of their daily non-menu "specials". Trio doesn't tell you. Without asking (my mistake) we did order the Pan-Seared Jumbo Scallop appetizer special. The scallops were quite good but there was nothing "jumbo" about them - on the small size for scallops - they looked lost on the serving plate. The real surprise came with the bill - $18.95! More expensive than my pasta main which was overpriced at $17.95. Maybe this is why they don't like to give you the prices of the specials! Another example ...... a small glass of rather unremarkable Chianti - $13.00! Good food but the pricing for most items is out of line with the many fine Italian restaurants in Midtown - we likely won't be back.

The Ossobucco was outstanding-melt off the bone with succulent marrow. The meat plate terrific- the sausages were great and the portions large enough to get a small lunch the next day! The Ceasar salad just the way I like it- more vinegar than creamy. Our party of 5 did not have pizza but they looked great. We were so full that dessert was not an option this time. We will be back!

Nice little restaurant. Not a romantic type of atmosphere, just fashionable and comfortable. We were seated upstairs in a corner spot. Even though it was Valentines Day it was not very busy. Unfortunately the tables were so close together that if you had to get up to use the washroom you would disturb the other couples as they eat for u need more room then was given to pass. The food was tasty but I was not pleased with the server. He ran off a very long menu special and seemed annoyed if u didn't catch it all. As if we spent as much time memorizing it as he did. We had to refill our own glasses cause he did not pay us the same attention he gave the other guests next to us. Worked out well for us cause his tip stayed in my pocket.

We were here hoping for some decent italian food here. We order the Calamari Fritti for appetizer, and it came in too lightly breaded that it almost felt i'm chewing rubber bands. The wait for the entree was quite long and we had Canneloni Calabresi, and Trio Pizza. The Canneloni is stuffed with too much meat and we couldn't really taste too much of other favors like cheese or tomato. I would rather them not load it with meat to heavily. The pizza on the other hand is a fine, with the ham in there making it a bit too salty to our favor, however I wouldn't mind trying other time. If the price is cheaper I wouldn't mind trying other dishes here, but for the price I would say it's not as good as I expected.

We had a wonderful dinner served by friendly staff. The portions were generous the menu was great and there were many specials that evening as well. The "bread on the house" was an amazing to start. My spinach salad with warm wild mushrooms was delicious and big enough to share as an appetizer. I tried the snapper special which was very nice and the accompanying potatoes were really nice. The veggies being limp was the only disappointment. My husband enjoyed his gigantic veal chop although he felt it was cooked medium and not medium rare. We enjoyed a glass of wine with dinner and had no room for dessert! We will be back to Trio!

The food was very good at a reasonable price. On a Saturday night there was a large selection of specials for all appetites. The wine list was pretty good although slightly overpriced for the food it was paired with. The waiter was very knowledgeable and pleasant. Overall a nice place to dine. Be sure to ask for the 1st level as the 2nd level is very quiet.

We've eaten there many times before. I don't remember the service being this lacking. It wasn't overly crowded as we were there on a Wednesday night. The waitress was not attentive. It took her a while to come over for the orders. We had to flag her colleague down a few times to get our water glasses refilled. We refilled our own wine glasses. The empty dishes sat for a while and we had to find her for dessert and coffee. While the food was good, I would hesitate returning during the week. My friend commented that it is always this way during the week. It is better on the weekends.

We selected this restaurant for my birthday lunch on the advice of a friend. The waiter was very accommodating to my sister's special requests due to a food allergy she has, and suggested appropriate dishes as well as asked the chef to alter dishes slightly. The food was excellent: I had a truly delicious tiger shrimp linguine, cooked to perfection. The Chilean Sauvignon Blanc was a perfect complement to our meals. While selecting dessert, the waiter must have overheard that it was my birthday. Along with our order, he brought out a tiramisu with a candle and sang happy birthday to me. It may not have been the highlight of his day, but it made mine a bit more special. And the desserts were excellent!

Although the restaurant has the capability of excellent food and service, this past Tuesday failed to deliver. Penna was requested not Scicy and rapini was listed as vegetable feature of day. We food arrived penna was uneatable due to heavy spice and wait staff said chef cooks how he likes to and substituted veggies for that daily special. Message from estibalishment was eat what we give you and don't complaine. At the very least they should have not charged for the penned as it was all returned uneaten.

The owners have been in the restaurant business for many years and they are good at what they do. Their menu is good but they ALWAYS have a large variety of great specials that are not on the menu. We are fish eaters and the grilled fish specials are always terrific as are the appetizers. Furthermore they always have special wines that are not on the menu... I could eat there every week and never get tired or disappointed in their food or wines !
