A word from Trio
Opened in early 2006 by three friends and former servers; Trio offers Pan-Asian cuisine with a heavy Thai influence, along with the warm service and hospitality that you would expect from a cozy neighborhood BYOB. Trio is located in the Fairmount section of the Philadelphia, and is just blocks from both the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the historic Eastern State Penitentiary.

Housed in a converted row home on the corner of Brown and Taney streets, Trio offers two floors of white tablecloth dining. Additionally, we offer al fresco dining on our second floor deck (weather permitting,) and a unique private dining room located on our third floor is available for banquets and parties

We took friends to Trio to show off the Fairmount culinary scene. They loved it. The food, which is always great, did not disappoint, nor did the service. We were there on a Wednesday evening, so it was pretty quiet - we were upstairs, and the only others up there was a larger party of 6 or 7, but they weren't too loud, so it was very pleasant. The only problem with Trio is that it's so good, we keep going back there, so we don't get to know the other restaurants in our neighborhood!

I came here with a friend and we tried the beggars pouches, pad Thai, and green curry. All three were wonderful. Their pad Thai made it on my list of top pad Thais that I have ever had! Prices are reasonable and portions are good. We sat outside, upstairs in the back. It has a cute view, so I highly suggest it! Service was good and I would definitely come back again.

Our meal at Trio was delicious an the ambiance outside was lovely. We brought out own bottle and were greeted by a polite and knowledgeable server. We ended up going with a couple of the specials that night and they were delicious. The outdoor seating is smaller than I imagined but we were not on top of any one else and the service was very quick. The food was well presented and filling- would definitely dine again. If you are looking for a unique and intimate outing in a nice spot in town, this is your place!

If you are a fan of Thai and are looking for a restaurant that does know how to cook it well. Then you must try this place. It is like walking into someone's home it's so quaint. But with quaint you also get a vicious parking scene, if I were to do it all again, I would probably take a cab. But it was still worth the work of finding parking to sample their Pad Thai. Cooked to perfection and had great flavoring that was not overwhelming like the were trying to hard. Nice atmosphere and we dined outside which was nice for a July afternoon in Philly. Would definitely recommend and will return again...albeit with better company.

First time here although we did have take out once. Everyone raved about their food. Salad dusted fried calamari salad was very good. Soups were also enjoyable. My wife's special eggplant dish was very good and I enjoyed the the drunken noodles. The only comment from everyone was that the staff seemed a bit odd. For our party of four they said there was a table outside for four but it really was a table for two. We went inside which was fine. Service was fine but as one of our party said they were a bit awkward. Perhaps since it was July 5 others were on vacation. That said, we will return.

We ate there the other evening and were able to sit outside on their upstairs deck on a beautiful night as the sun was setting. It could not have been better. We had the quinoa salad and green papaya salad- both so fresh and so delicious. Our entrees: Thai coconut curry -which I could have licked the plate the curry was so good and my wife have their traditional Szechuan style Kung Pao chicken. Tasted authentic and dare I say reminded me of the Szechuan dishes at Han Dynasty. Excellent meal, great to sit outside, glad we were able to walk to and from.

The staff, chef were wonderful service oriented people who came across as sincere servers. Kudos to Zach and Samuel who were indeed a tag team tandem that rocked! The late hour was of no concern for them as they continued to attend to our every need. My daughter and her fellow graduate (GO SLA!) were made to feel very special and as a father observing her happiness, my satisfaction was met. I want to thank your entire establishment for a very memorable time. And yes, we would recommend you to anyone looking for a nice, quiet, neighborhood style BYOB with superior cuisine and service. Trio is my favorite restaurant in Fairmount. The food is always excellent, the service friendly and attentive. I recently went there with a friend on a Monday evening, and it was very quiet. We took our time, enjoying our meal at a leisurely pace and slowly finishing the two bottles of wine we brought. I had the vegetable spring rolls and the Thai green curry, my friend had the beggar's pouches and the pad woonsen, and we shared a hazelnut mousse cake for dessert - everything was absolutely wonderful. I'm always eager to introduce folks to Trio, so show them just how great neighborhood dining can be.

We enjoyed our dinner. Most of the appetizers and entrees were delicious. Just one entrée I thought was a little bland, especially for a Thai restaurant. The ingredients were very fresh though. I just thought it could use more spice or flavor. Overall, very satisfied. Will definitely go back.

We've eaten here three times in the past nine months and each meal has been top-notch. The kitchen was a bit slow on the last occasion and the entrees were served in two stages to four people, two at a time, about five minutes apart. The food itself was - and always has been - outstanding. Truly well prepared and plated. Appetizers, soup and dessert begin and end the meal with a flair. Frankly, I like the fact that the menu is not too adventurous; the Thai- influenced food is delicious and the chef emphasizes flavor over super-fancy or esoteric meals. Prices are very reasonable and there is a roof deck for outdoor dining in the summer with a beautiful view of the City. We will continue to return regularly.

My boyfriend and I came here for valentines day and had the best experience! The food here is incredibly flavorful; I can't handle that much spice, so I love finding places that don't rely on heat to give their food taste. We shared several appetizers--spring rolls and samosas--both excellent and, amazingly, neither greasy. We then had pad ki mao and the duck special, which were both incredible. Had we not had cupcakes already at home we would have stayed for dessert. Tthis place is worth trek to Fairmount to try!

Took some long time friends to Trio for a great meal.....Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, Crispy Duck, and a great Sea Bass. As part of restaurant week, the menu was full of surprises. The Roasted garlic/Spinach puree soup was outstanding, Lemongrass meatballs as a app, delicious, and with desert, a decadent experience. Been going to Trio since they opened, about 8 years, and they are getting better, not just sitting back and doing the same standard dishes, but reaching out and coming up with interesting and tasty combinations of seafood, poultry and veggies.

We were a little concerned as we pulled up - lack of parking and doors that were covered with blankets. But once we got past those food was very good. We were surprised by the lack of 'Thai' desserts. but the beggars pouches and lemongrass soup were very good. Our entrees were very good - Green Thai Curry and papaya salad were perfect. In a residential neighborhood in Fairmount is theis terrific Asian fusion restaurant. BYOB makes it even better. And by the way, we brought a precious bottle of wine we were saving for a while and our waiter graciously filtered it and served us the clear liquid. Food was delicious. As vegetarians we had lots of choices and from the menu and specials announced anyone should find a suitable dish. Dessert of key lime pie was shared and the spoons licked clean.

One of the best Thai meals I've had in my year of living in Philly, and I've tried over a dozen spots. Crab roll app special was amazing. Excellent pad Thai. I wish the lemongrass soup had been less spicy, but I'm a wimp. Also awesome that it's a BYO. We joked to keep our spirits and blood sugar up. I'd not dined-in at Trio on a weekend in months—they are excessively slow. But home late, changed plans, booked thru OT and seated by 9:15. Hungry, I ordered samosas as we were seated. Then we waited... party of 8 behind us were deep into a 2nd bottle of wine and no sign of food. The waiter was on point. Clearly not his fault. As the restaurant cleared, they got their order and apology. We placed ours. 50 min for an app? An hour +10 for noodles? We should have left, but good options in Fairmount are few and our fridge was empty. Our food was tasty and piping hot, another indication that it was not the service. My point—the food is great, but go on a Tuesday night or stick with takeout.
