Diner Reviews
  • "On Friday we enjoyed the Happy Hour small plates (ceviche and parmesan meat balls) and local craft, draft beers, then went into the dining room for dinner: rack of lamb and maple glazed salmon...beautifully presented but even more so, perfectly cooked how differently each of us like it. We asked for NO salt on our entrée and vegetables and VOILA, we got no salt...this is sometimes hard to get at other restaurants. The view out to the terrace and Lady Bird lake is very serene through full floor length windows. Tables spaced far apart, banquette booths, all for a very private feeling. Make reservation and ask for 'by the window'."

  • "If you have an $80,000 car, you'll pay nothing to valet park. If you have a current year $40,000 car (or, presumably, a car of lesser value), you'll pay $8.00. Bad taste in my mouth after an otherwise lovely brunch."

  • "Trio is on the lower level of the Four Seasons Hotel adjacent to the beautiful lawn and lake. The outdoor patio is covered so very pleasant except for the ultra hot days. Service is impeccable and food was great"

  • "This is a nice place to go the management was very nice and accommodating. The food was ok, the service was ok and wine was very good. It wouldn't be my first place to go again but I would possibly try it a second time only because the beginning of the experience was spectacular."

  • "It is always a pleasure to be greeted by name and be escorted to my favorite booth. Especially when I am meeting a fellow modern manners expert. Our service was supreme and the sea bass divine. Diane Gottsman and I adore TRIO and it is our fine dining spot of choice. Perfect perfect service and food! A+"

  • "My experience at Trio was amazing. I had indicated in my open table reservation that we were celebrating my sisters' 50th birthday. The menu included a Happy 50th Birthday note across the top of the menu, which was such a wonderful personal touch. Trio presented my sister with a scrolled copy of the menu to my sister to take home. The food and service was outstanding. I highly recommend this resturant. Booking the reservation through open table was great."

  • "Great dinner, great food, and very attentive staff. My only issue is that I booked reservations for an anniversary dinner and I didn't realize until I got there that they were only doing a buffet dinner for the holiday."

  • "Had a great meal with my wife to celebrate 22 years. The staff did an excellent job of striking the balance between reserved professionalism and overly familiar friendliness. I had noted on my opentable reservation that it was for our anniversary and requested a nice table with a view. They gave us a great table and had a number of touches throughout the evening for our anniversary without being indiscreet or tacky. While I was very impressed with the service, the food matched in quality and the servings were generous. The highlights were the flash fried brussels sprouts, (my wife said, "its like eating candy") and for dessert the bon bons made of dark chocolate with Amy's ice cream (don't miss it). Wine steward was very helpful too."

  • "My husband and I came for dinner for our anniversary. Everything was perfect. The service was outstanding, everyone was very genuinely friendly and seemed to know their jobs inside and out. Our food was wonderful, we started with the tuna tartare which melted in your mouth. For dinner we shared the pork chop and snapper, we also had the brussel sprouts and mushrooms...delicious. Dessert was the omg amazing banana pudding with homemade cookies. Our server recommended the best wine. Overall Trio has earned a spot in my Austin top 5."

  • "We truely enjoyed Trio! Credit goes to our wonderful server Jay! Who made it fun, and helped us pick great wines! My steak was Delicous but I found the mac n cheese bland.our roasted brussel sprouts were good, but too much vinegar.Dessert was bon bons, Great presentation! Corn brulee was awesome."

  • "The chef is fabulous, service is fabulous, and my kiddo's favorite for Sunday brunch. I am a sucker for the black truffle mac and cheese. I highly recommend setting up camp and reading the paper front to back every Sunday while snacking."

  • "Trio is one of my favorite breakfast spots on Austin. It is a special treat. The service is top notch and the view of the lake and running trail is pure Austin. My single complaint is that the food often arrives room temperature, if not cold. I do always sit on the patio so the restaurant is challenged with a long commute from the kitchen."

  • "Was a miserable experience. Sat outside....was at least 25 flies on our table at all times....crawling all over our food. The food was so so.....unimaginative .....surely not worth the money. Tried to have a special dinner with my daughter...I will not be coming back ever!!!!!"

  • "Booked for after my daughter's high school graduation. Ended up eating from the lunch menu as the dinner menu wasn't available for another hour. Lovely outdoor seating but the flies, squirrels and grackles detracted from the ambiance. We moved tables as the one we sat at originally ended up in the blazing sun. Food was ok, but nothing special; likewise the service. They did bring my daughter a nice dessert as a congratulations"

  • "We had a very nice time at Trio. I called days before our reservation to tell them my 16 month old would be joining us in a high chair...no problem! I called 5 minutes before our reservation to tell them we would be 10 minutes late...no problem! We have had a few fine dining experiences in notable regions of the country, and this ranks right up there with the best! Very good experience on the phone with hostess and in the restaurant with the server!"

  • "Went to Trio with another couple for date night. The place is beautiful and we were anticipating a fabulous dinner as it was the Four Seasons, after all. The service and atmosphere saved the day. Our waiter and sommelier were attentive and knowledgable. We were seated in a booth with a view to outside. After dinner we asked to move outside for dessert and they were very accommodating. The staff gets 5 stars! Now onto the food. Our appetizer of gnocchi was mushy. The chicken dish was unimpressive, most of it was dark meat, ugh. The steak had good flavor but was very tough to chew. The fish dish was meh. The desserts couldn't even save the day. The volcano cake, which is my favorite, wasn't good. Sad to say we will not return. "

  • "I do not write any reviews, but I am writing about the experience at TRIO. The food is good, but the wait staff and the kitchen lack a lot order and service. We made reservations at 5:30 and we didn't leave the restaurant until 8:30. We waited a good hour until we received our first drink and appetizer. The waitress couldn't explain the menu in a professional manner. When you go and spend a lot of money on a dinner out you expect exceptional service and food. We will not return to TRIO again because this is not the first time this has happened to us. If you have 3 hours to hang out and not be waited on, then this is the place for you. I expect a lot more for The Four Seasons Hotels."

  • "What a lovely experience! The outdoor patio was just perfect, even with the threat of rain. People had their dogs by their tables and kids could run off energy in the grass while adults enjoyed a beautiful meal. Very interesting and diverse choices for Sunday brunch. Our waiter quickly brought mimosas and explained the highlights of what awaited us inside on the buffet line. But it was not your usual buffet line. Very helpful station assistance, beautiful display and signs to tell us what treats awaited. Everything was fresh and creative. Truly a Sunday treat! And Happy Hour on the back lawn any evening is terrific watching the river go by, people enjoying the walking trail and lovely wine and food."

  • "Sitting outside Trio is bliss. Listening to the birds and enjoying these beautiful spring evenings in Austin is what Trio delivers. The food is outstanding along with the impecable service. My only complaint is our parking tickets were validated by our server, but when we checked out the valet charged us $8.00--really?"

  • "I chose Trio for a business lunch with five out-of-towners in for a convention. Perfect location for conventioneers. The service was relaxed, friendly and attentive. Four Seasons sparkle and snap from all. Orders were flawless and came out quickly. I loved the ice tea service. The ices cubes were made from tea and sugar syrup was supplied. A pleasing touch. Prices were not outrageous for lunch. Menu had a nice range of appealing options. I enjoyed a great burger and fries--humble dishes, but expertly realized. You'd be comfortable dressed any way you wish--typical Austin dishabille to ladies-who-lunch chic. The patio delivers the best al fresco dining in the city when weather permits."

  • "Trio has a beautiful patio overlooking a grass area and trees that bank the lake (contrary to their website it does not have a view of the lake - the lounge upstairs is better for that). The food is fine, but the menu is an odd combination of gourmet and Texas casual- the prices are on the high side. This makes it an awkward choice, given competition in Austin, you can find many better options for either nearby. The wait staff was friendly and competent. The front staff, on the other hand, were unorganized and rude which is really not the norm in Austin. Perhaps they were trying to import an edgy NY vibe. All in all it is perfectly ok restaurant, a let-down for such a beautiful location in a landmark hotel."

  • "Main course was excellent. Side dishes were mediocre. A very good meal, but not worth the price! Crispy brussel sprouts were too crispy. Mac and cheese very mediocre. Oyster appetizers were excellent but very expensive."

  • "The Service was the worst we have ever had at a Four Seasons. We SAID we were unhappy with the service and it did not get any better. We did not get water for the first 20 minutes.. The food was very good."

  • "Trio for brunch is always a great choice. Our family goes about 3 times a year. Last Sunday was very special. Food choices were abundant and excellent. One of the most enjoyable brunch experiences in recent memory. Will be back for sure."

  • "This restaurant was my go to always fantastic place to wine and dine folks. Have to say, my expectations were too high during my last 2 visits and it is not as it once was. Although service is still quality and the view/ambiance-wonderful...the food is only "just as" good as any other steakhouse with a few exceptions. DO NOT order the Akaushi steak - it was unbelievably grisled, fatty and had an odd flavor -- I should have been "WOW'd by this cut and was not. No one at our table liked it. The overall menu no longer offers anything unusual or inventive and so the food leaves you less than excited. We all left with the feeling that the usual Four Seasons restaurant standards were not nearly met."
