Diner Reviews
  • "Fantastic food, fantastic services. We had high expectations after beeing here in 2011 but it was even better!"

  • "Great atmosphere, delicious food however we we're left for over 30mins before we could order and then the food although lovely came slowly. We then had another long wait for dessert which we gave up on. Our main waitress was very unengaged and methodical. This was my second visit and if not for the food and my first experience I may not have returned in the future. "

  • "I made reservations following my daughter's wedding and the guests were out of towners. They were very satisfied with the food. Overall, the food was good, esp. the steak which was juicy, and the soup of the day. Portions were just right. We were all impressed and appreciative of the server's attention and the pleasantness of all the staff. I would definitely recommend this place for any occasion and am planning to return. "

  • "I has fiesta from Europe meet us at TBG because I thought it would be a great dining experience w as well as a restaurant with a wonderful ambiance and representative of an American dining experience. All went well until the food arrived. Simply stated the grilled pork chop entree especially the few a was so overly salted that it was in edible. If it were not for the fact that I was entertaining a guest, I would have made the waiter take all of the food back and start all over again. I was mortified after having made the TBG the centerpiece of the evening's entertainment. Although I may not be a regular customer, the TBG has ways been one of my "go to" places. Maybe I have to rethink this option. Regards? Wil Chabrier"

  • "The service was very good, the ambiance too, but it was a little bit noisy. The food was good and abundant enough. Great choice of wines, the meat was very good."

  • "We had a very nice dinner here on a Wednesday night. Great service too."

  • "We had a gift card and after reading other reviews our expectations were not very high. We were very pleasantly surprised. We arrived 15 minutes for our reservation and were promptly seated. The sommelier recommended a great wine and our server Carlos answered questions about appetizer and entree selections with confidence and we were pleased with everything we ate. I had the beet salad with mozzarella instead of goat cheese - one of the best I have had. My husbands salad was also very good - just can't remember what it was. I had the pork chop and my husband the short ribs - other than the kale which was a little chewy both were memorable. Dessert was the banana tart - yummy! Almost all the table were full and Carlos handled it with ease!"

  • "Fixed price lunch is excellent value. No scrimping and beautifully prepared and cooked. Other options also excellent. Service was also very good - friendly, quick and mostly efficient as they have a good team approach."

  • "Had a blast with a friend. The food was incredible and the service was equal. The pierogi was insane. It was a shame there were only 2. Would have made a great entree."

  • "Nice staff. Good food and drinks. Fancy but not too fancy."

  • "Tribecca Grill is an example of an outstanding restaurant resting on a reputation. I had octupus salad ( rubbery and tasteless) and had the kitchen fix the seared tuna ap as a dinner. An overly generous amount of curly lettuce was supposed to compensate for 8 slices of tastless tuna. My partner had the salmon dish which was indistinguishable from every medocre salmon dish served in the city. Our waitress was overly impressed with herself and of no real assistance to us. We recently enjoyed a fine meal at Saul at the Brooklyn Musem, now that's food. I will not bring guests to TG again."

  • "But we would not rate the food as outstanding. Vegetables were undercooked (really undercooked) and while the menu was excellent the actual food we felt underwhelmed (table of 6)."

  • "The food tasted good but we were put in such a dark corner that it was difficult to see what we were eating, which took away the visual enjoyment of the food. The service was adequate but below expectations for this type of restaurant - it didn't seem very friendly and rather impersonal. The atmosphere was lively, if a little noisy when sitting so close to other guests. There are other restaurants in the area that we would recommend before this one."

  • "Tribeca Grill is a restaurant that delivers consistently good food and service. The setting allows for a comfortable mood and ease of conversation. The service is polite and attentive without being intrusive."

  • "I booked this restaurant as part of my birthday celebration to NYC from the UK. I'd read great things and was really looking forward to it as was the rest of the group. Drinks were fantastic, great cocktails, decent and varied wine list. The food was some of the best I've eaten, this view was shared by the rest of my large group. The service let the experience down though. The staff weren't very attentive and when our wine glasses were empty we had to ask for them to be refilled as the wine wasn't left on the table, bread rolls were flung rather than placed on the plates, and one of our party was still eating her main course when everyone else's plates were taken away and a waiter started handing out dessert menus."

  • "Wait/bartender staff very attentive . . . Annie (server) was excellent, friendly and knew answers to all questions. Front desk warm and accommodating as we were early and they did all the right things. The Octopus Salad could have had more octopus in it and less greens. The Pork Chop wasn't that memorable and probably won't order it again. Wine was good and so was dessert and espresso. Been going to TriBeCa Grill for years and still a SoHo favorite, but slightly disappointed with salad and entree. Need to step it up some."

  • "We all selected the red wine braised short spare ribs and through consultation with Sommelier, it was pared perfectly with Colombis Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2009. Excellent meal, wine, and dinner experience. Highly recommended!"

  • "After being in business for over 20 years, Tribeca Grille is still a gem in the dining scene. One still gets a great price for the quality and quantity of food and service. A must go-to if you are in NYC."

  • "Dined at Tribeca Grill during restaurant week for lunch. It was a no-brainer to return for dinner. We had a good night at this restaurant. Noisy but atmospheric room and excellent food -- the salmon with white beans was outstanding. Employees were per and personable and friendly although actual service was a bit skewered at times. Our party of three were seated downstairs at a table overlooking Greenwich Street. A bit chilly as the evening wore on but we survived. Great place for dining with friends. Look forward to dining here again. Have now done lunch and dinner so looks like brunch is next."

  • "Hello Whe a restaurant is recommended, expectations are high. Unfortunately on this occassion, we were very disappointed. The food was ok although the chicken was overcooked. The whole experience lacked any passion and vibe. The service was again ok but no one showed a genuine interest in us or whether we enjoyed the meal. Much better places to eat in New York."

  • "Tribeca Grill is a great "go to" neighborhood restaurant for business dining, as well as a nice "date night out." Food & service are always consistently very good."

  • "We had a great dinner at TriBeCa grill. The somalier was very helpful and between all 7 of us we ordered six different dishes. All great. From duck to salmon to short ribs to filet to shrimp we couldn't find a bad thing to say about anything. Our waiter was excellent and explained everything as well as made helpful recommendations. This is definitely on our list to hit again and again."

  • "The wait staff was painfully in attentive but polite."

  • "The food was terrible, the service was sarcastic (yes, a bit unusual for manhattan I know!) and the place itself is pretty nice. it is supposed to be a New York institution but actually it is far far off the mark."

  • "Short ribs are excellent. Melt in the mouth. Wine list excellent with a very helpful sommelier. Friendly and attentive staff. We had a great time."

  • "It might be nice to go for a drink with a group of people but unfortunately the food was rough and not tasty at all. The service was good so it's painful to say this but we ordered steak and pork chop but both dishes were large portions but not eatable. It's not clear if the ingredients were subpar or preparation was inappropriate. But either case, the experience left us fully disappointed. Tribeca grill is a perfect example of a celebrity chef and celebrity owner succeeding in marketing and filling the house but completely missing the purpose of a restaurant which is to serve the palate."

  • "We went to NYC for a short break in December 2013, and we made a reservation in advance for the Tribeca Grill based on location, and, well, let's not kid ourselves, because of Robert De Niro's involvement in the restaurant (not that we expected him to be there, but our thinking was if he put his dough into it, it must be a decent place to eat. What we found when we arrived was beyond our expectation. The staff were friendly & courteous, without being overbearing. The service throughout our visit was first class. The ambiance and environment was relaxed, but you knew you were dining in a classy establishment, and the really important bit - the food was excellent. Three course and drinks for two came to @$160, and it was worth every cent."

  • "We went there mostly for the wine list and we were not disappointed. Service was above expectations, truly dedicated staff. Food was not spectacular but totally up to par. I would recommend checking the wine list before you go...it is almost overwhelming! There are some true treasures in the French wine department! Enjoy!"

  • "Had never been, Restaurant Week gave an opportunity and good reason to try it. There on a cold Monday night, probably a third of the tables were filled, if that. In such instance you would think servers would be all over you, or things would be rushed since kitchen wasn't too busy, but that was not the case. Perusing the wine list, sommelier asked our preferences: hearty full-bodied red. He proceeded to recommend and push the $110 Chateauneuf du Pape. Thanks, but no thanks. Otherwise, pace of the meal was excellent, service just fine. Choices for RW menu were good; we opted for salmon and pork chop. The chop, especially, was grilled to perfection and delish. Very happy with our meal, especially at RW prices."

  • "Only one of our eight member party did not like her food but did not say anything. When the waiter and management saw that most of the dish was left over we were told that we would not be charged for that meal. Without us even asking!!! I was very impressed with the fact that they noticed and took care of it in a very pleasant manner,"

  • "I was very disappointed by very snail service. Food was great, though."

  • "I have been to this restaurant several times both with business groups and for personal dining. Tables are a little close together, but not atypical for NYC. Menu is interesting with something for everyone. Food is perfectly prepared and ....wonder of wonders....all entrees come with sides ! Considering the ample portions and the popularity of this Robert de Niro owned establishment, the place is a bargain. You can easily pay just $50 per person without alcohol. The service is great. We were particularly happy with our latest experience when we took our son there for his birthday. When my son ordered dessert, they had written Happy 22nd Birthday, Jeremy on his plate in chocolate! We were really impressed ! By all means, GO !"

  • "The menu for restaurant week was very nice. Nice atmosphere and service. Food was tasty and original. The main drawback is the wine list, much too expensive and the one we picked was disapointing"
