Tribeca CanvasWe loved eating a little ofWe loved eating a little of this and a little of that--everything was delicious. There wasn't anything that we wouldn't order again--and I imagine I could say the same about the rest of the menu. Try it!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThank you!!!I arranged my boss' son birthday party for 17 people at this place. The family prefers only high-class restaurants, and how happy I was to hear that they really enjoyed the food and the service. They also said the restaurant is very beautiful. Huge thanks to Tribeca Canvas!!!6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMMy go to spotCan't say enough great things. I've been a few times now and am never disappointed! I highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun and yummy dinner:)6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMI love Chef Morimoto's otherI love Chef Morimoto's other restaurant so I was excited to try his new place. We started with the lotus chips, mussels, lamb buns and fried chicken. I don't know if there was one standout but all were plated beautifully and were very tasty. We then had the braised ribs which were so tender, the meat fell off the bone. The risotto that came with it was creamy and flavorful. Others in my group had the duck and the whole fish and although I didn't taste, they looked wonderful. For dessert, the tiramisu slider which our waitress recommended was our favorite.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMTea Smoked Chicken! One of the best chicken dishes I've had in years. Apparently new to the menu. Tuna duo was awesome too. Spicy tuna on a bed of crispy fried rice risotto. Really creative food and beautiful space.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat brunchTribeca Canvas just started brunch and I went the weekend after Mother's Day. It was a really nice combination of traditional dishes and some things with an Asian touch. The homemade bagel and house smoked salmon was unbelievably good. Not sure how they got the salmon to taste that delicious. There was also some sort of flavoring in the cream cheese that was absolutely delicious. Wagyu shepherd's pie was also fantastic. Eggs were cooked perfectly. Overall delightful experience.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat BrunchHad a fantastic brunch today at Tribeca Canvas. I think it was their debut brunch and this is my new go-to Sunday spot. The dishes were so creative and delicious. Crab cake eggs benedict and Wagyu Shepards pie are insanely good. They also make homemade bagles and lox. Spicy blood mary was also excellent. Will be back again soon.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat mother's day brunchTook my wife and in-laws here this weekend. Not crowded; I don't think many people know about this place yet. Duck gyoza hash was amazing. We were also happy with the mac & cheese, wagyu sheperd's pie, and eggs benedict. They make a solid Bloody Mary. Great mimosa too. Will come back.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and great service!Went for a Saturday night dinner to celebrate our anniversary and we couldn't have been happier. The hostess was lovely and very accommodating. The food was delicious! Surprising Asian combinations with classic comfort food. The rice cake and the lamb bun were standouts. Our waiter was helpful and very nice. Plus, everyone wished us a happy anniversary and our drinks were on the house!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSo much more than comfort food...Had a great meal with friends at Tribeca Canvas last night. The food is put simply, awesome. Discount the negative reviews here and there, everyone in our party was raving. The atmosphere is perfect amount hip (without trying to be) and friendly. Music was great too. 5 stars all around.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat timei just love the menu at Tribeca Canvas. The fried chicken is probably the best i have every had. The lamb buns, hamachi tacos, shrimp nachos and lotus chips with guacamole are also to die for. Really had a great time and excellent vibe there last Sat night. We started fairly early when it was quieter and more family oriented. By the time we left, it was a lively downtown scene.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGetting Better Each Time! This is my third time back to Tribeca Canvas and it gets better each time. The menu has changed quite a bit since it opened with some very cool, new dishes that are just to die for. Red Snapper was a huge hit at our table, crispy skin on a bed of perfectly cooked market veggies. Lamb buns and hamachi tacos are consistently amazing and the new cocktail list was really clever and cool. Music was great and place was packed on Friday night. So glad this place continues to take further steps to improve and isn't complacent. Morimoto is a true professional!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMJust In Time~~~All I have to say was that Samantha - Manager of Tribeca came to the rescue. She provided excellent service. Food was great!!!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food!We recently went on much needed girls night out (babies at home with the hubbies), and had a great time. The decor is Morimoto mixed with a vibrant black calligraphy modern feel. We ordered the shisito poppers, chicken kara age, hamachi tacos, and two orders of the Dukboki. The Dukboki with the foie and Japanese seasoning with nori on the side was to die for. I only wished they made it in an entree portion.
Everything was delicious, service was excellent. A high recommend!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMI wanted to try this placeI wanted to try this place ever since it opened. I have read a lot of bad reviews of this place, but that didn't deter me to try it. They may have influenced me to want to try it even more. I'm glad I did try it out, because I had a great time here. Not only did I find the food delicious, but the service and atmosphere were great too. I wasn't able to try everything on the menu, but I'll try to come back soon.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWow wow and wowThis place is terriffic. Carbonara and scallops to die for! They also have a great cocktail menu. Take a group and go - you'll have a blast!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Food and service was good. The Food and service was good. However, when it got a bit later, I could hardly hear the server's explanation about the Food that he/she is serving.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat scene on Friday nightGreat scene on Friday night - nice looking crowd. Menu was very inventive and food was terrific. Spicy Samurai cocktail is a must try.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat vibe, awesome food! This is my second time back at Tribeca Canvas. This time I came in at 10pm (the kitchen is open until 3am!) with a group of four. We tried a few of their specials (all great), in addition to our last time favorites: buns, shrimp tacos, mac n cheese.
I hear they are opening a lounge soon - which will be nice after a late night meal. I'll be back for that soon.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMRefreshing menu and theme!Check this spot out folks! Nothing in nyc quite like it. Plently of familiar names but the flavors come out of nowhere. Really make this place stand out. Attentive staff, cool vibe and overall a complete dining experience. Try the pork ribs, lamb buns and skirt steak. Will be back again for more!!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Food. Hit or Miss ServiceOur second time dining here. First time food was amazing (dokbukki with seaweed, lamb buns, mussels and chorizo are highlights you shouldn't miss), service was wonderful. Second visit, food was excellent but service was severely lacking. Our waiter did not offer to tell us specials, took a long time before taking our order, did not check on us during the meal, was not familiar with some of the dishes. We will return for the food and hope for better waiter. One disappointment: if you ask for one more piece of grilled bread for the mussels and chorizo (dish comes with one piece of bread cut in half), you will be charged $3.00, which is steep. If waiter told us beforehand, we would have skipped the extra bread.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMTruly unique flavors!I dined at Tribeca Canvas with a group of 6. We shared everything family style. The menu was so much fun, and offered a great variety of dishes with truly unique dishes. We loved the tacos, lamb buns, sea bass and whole fish. The vibe late night was energetic with old school music to finish up the night. Definitely coming back!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional food - I especiallyExceptional food - I especially enjoyed the fried chicken snack and the bone marrow mashed potatoes.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it! Had a blast withLoved it! Had a blast with a group of friends and the food was perfect for sharing. Must try the lamb buns and Whole Fish!3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe freshest whole fish, fine WagyuThis was an exceptional meal - as we celebrated a 40th birthday of a friend and ate the finest cuisine. We had the whole fish, which was perhaps the most delicious dinner entree I've ever had in my life. It would have been expected at a seafood restaurant in the Caribbean, fresh and authentic.
We also ate the mussels, which were exceptional. So much flavor. Finally, we ordered the Wagyus beefs which may have been the finest cut of beef I've ever eaten. This was a steak that is similar to what Chef Mori Moto serves at his other restaurant and charges $180 for. It was perfect. We ordered 2 because it was that good.
This place is a hidden gem - one of the best meals I've had in NYC in a decade.
While dining, we noticed Jay Z and Be3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA very nice place for a smallA very nice place for a small group of people.
Good was an eclectic fusion, which mostly was very good. The only exception in concensus was the duck confit salad which was very strongly vinegared.
Decor is somewhat dark and Gothic.
Overall a very enjoyable evening, and impeccable service. Likely to come back.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMSecond time back, better thanSecond time back, better than the first. They've introduced daily specials which they didn't have the first time. Food is delicious and the scene is very cool without trying too hard. My new go to place for fun group dinners.3/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic place. Food wasFantastic place. Food was delicious and fun for a group. Will be back.2/23/2013 12:00:00 AMI did my research ahead ofI did my research ahead of time so I knew not to expect a typical Morimoto ultra lux sushi experience. The place was packed on a Friday night with nice-looking crowd. The ambiance is a bit more casual than I'm used to from Morimoto, but the design is cool and the high cielings made an otherwise smallish restaurant feel roomy an open. The food was amazing, our group shared several apps. Everyone loved all of it but the steamed buns and shrimp nachos were the standouts. Entres were equally delicious. I had the Sea Bass which was great and I had a bite of my friends spare ribs which may have been the best thing on the table. Great spot, will definitely be back again.2/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food, beautiful designGreat Food, beautiful design and a lively fun scene. Great for groups or date spot. Morimoto is the man.1/24/2013 12:00:00 AMTruely a creative, new gem!Your Review:
I haven't had this much fun at a restaurant in a long time. The food was fantastic and each dish created created excitement and smiles when they were brought by the very friendly and competent servers. We tried over 12 things and I'd say half were absolute mindblowers (rice cakes, hamachi tacos, lamb buns, shrimp nachos, sea bass) and the other half were close second standouts (mussels, chicken pot pie, skirt steak, fried rice rissoto, mac & cheese). Cocktails were delicious (I tried the Coco Fraiche and a friend had the Canvas Old Fashioned) and the crowd was an energetic, yet sophisticated NYC scene. The place is conducive to catching up with friends or celebrating a birthday or event. Could also see it as a great date spo1/8/2013 12:00:00 AMTruely a creative new gemI haven't had this much fun at a restaurant in a long time.
