The waiter we had was excellent and very friendly. Made our time that much better. My birthday was in April and unfortunately we didn't get there at that time so he gave me a free dessert. It was a fun atmosphere and the food was well prepared and interesting. ALthough it wasn't typical table service, the people attending the tables were friendly, professional and prompt. The bleu cheese soup was particularly notable, but all courses were excellent. Tria fit the bill and has great options without having to see fried mozzarella. If you like Phil's Tara or Lake Elmo Inn, them Tria is for you! Our server was fantastic and did not steer us wrong. He was honest in his recommendations telling us things that others do not like. We had a group of 4 and said we were not in a hurry - he took our cue and let us go at our own pace. Greeted immediately but ended up waiting to order & overall, the service was not spectacular. The steaks and trout were excellent. It probably helped that it was a Tuesday evening so not quite as busy as a weekend. We had a wonderful meal. My husband's steak was so tender that he could just use his butter knife to cut. My food was also great, but especially enjoyed the spinach salad....it was so good! They have a nice perk for people celebrating birthdays, a free dessert and a bottle of wine up to a dollar value equal to your age. Most recently I had the Veal Marsala, my husband had the Sea bass and my son had a steak. All the entrees were very good. The servers were attentive and knowledgable about the menu. I appreciated the atmosphere and the fact that it was fairly quiet and easy to hear each other talk. We usually like a brunch setting, however, here you order an entree off the menu. The food was very good & the service outstanding. We had heard that several parties cancelled at the last minute & one was a no-show which is too bad--PEOPLE SHOULD BE MORE CONSIDERATE especially on special days since there was a waiting list of people that wanted to eat there. For once we were not exposed to the usual "Can I get you a drink right away", and "how is the food tasting?". We think those questions simply don't belong in the restaurant world; after all, "..........right away?"; we haven't had time to even sit down and relax. And, "............the food tasting?"; well I'm sorry, but food does not have the ability to taste on its own. THANKS for not asking those questions!

The staff was fun...engaging but not intrusive and played along with our jokes. Noise level allowed us a chance to really visit, even though a birthday party was going on at the next table. This evening we were celebrating our anniversary with out-of-town friends. We were seated in a booth in the back of a room off to the left upon entering. It was extremely noisy. The room has an arched ceiling of brick. We could barely hear each other across table even when I felt like I was straining my voice to speak louder. To the credit of the Tria staff, when we expressed our displeasure, we were immediately moved to a much quieter location in the main room. We had requested a booth thinking it would be more intimate. The restaurant was busy and was there was a very energetic crowd in all areas. The acoustics were just better in some locations.
