Tres - SF is dedicated to quality and fun. Our tequila bar features fresh, hand-squeezed lime margaritas and other tasty tequila cocktails, plus Mexican beers on tap. Our food is new to the United States, but we're just taking our cue from the traditional restaurants of Jalisco Mexico. We serve wholesome, soulful renditions of Jaliscan classics using the freshest possible ingredients from Bay Area farmers. And like our counterparts in the special region of Mexico, all side items are included with your meal and served family style.

  • "I lived in SOMA for 4 years and this used to be my go-to place for work lunches, dinner with friends, and for happy hour. After I moved last summer I hadn't gone back, so when I went back yesterday after about a year, I found I was extremely disappointed. They have hiked up the prices, reduced the menu options (gotten rid of some of my favs), stopped paying close attention to the food quality (overcooked and undercooked pork, soggy fish), and also stopped offering free chips and salsa. I might still come here for happy hour drinks, but I won't be returning for a meal. The high prices and reduced quality aren't worth it."

  • "I love Tres and have been there many times, but my last experience was disappointing. The service was very slow, even though the restaurant was maybe 1/3 full. The food was good, but not exceptional as it had been in the past. And, maybe I'm wrong, but the menu seemed pared down and too short. Anyway, I'll go back, because of my past experiences. Everyone can have an off night... though it isn't something I would expect here."

  • "We had reservations for 930pm. When sat at our table, it took 20 minutes for a server to arrive. He then immediately notified us that the kitchen was closing in 10 minutes, so we needed to order post haste. We ordered and received our food before our drinks or appetizers showed up. Brought friends here as my previous visit was nice. Tried to say something and were brushed off my a manager. Ok food, horrible service!"

  • "This is a great place for cocktails, but the food here is disappointing. There was nothing special about any of the dishes we tried. I had the carnitas which were really dry. Our server never checked back with us to ask if we needed anything else. We had to waive her down to order another drink."

Overall, no complaints about our dinner or drinks, just that it took forever to flag down our server to begin the whole meal process. We all just sat there at an empty table watching other guests being served."

  • "I came here with my parents before the Giant's Game. An ideal location for a pre-game meal. The white sangria was spectacular - very refreshing and fruity, but not too sweet. We ordered chips and guacamole to start with. Both my mom and I ordered the mahi mahi tacos which were very tasty - a blend of light grilled fish mixed with a slightly sweet slaw, drizzled with a chipotle mayo - a great flavor combination! My dad ordered a beef stew dish, which he enjoyed. To my delight, almost everything on the menu is gluten free, so I had lots of great options to choose from. Our wait staff was attentive and friendly and the ambiance in the restaurant was fun - casual but classy. I'll definitely come back!"

We were there at 5 o'clock to have dinner and a couple of drinkgs- Very difficult to have a conversation and hear each other. I can see the music being louder later in the evening. Other than that it was a great experience!!"

  • "I've been to Tres a few times and have always liked it - but it's been a while. I had a reservation and we were sat at a middle of the room table. Two out of 4 of our chairs were so rocky, I thought they would break under our weight. There were four of us and we ordered 3 different items. Two of the items came out within a couple minutes of each other - mine (eggs benedict) came out about 8 minutes after that. When I received my plate - the eggs were basically hard boiled. Not very good. My friends enjoyed their meals very much and their eggs were beautifully cooked (over easy). First Mexican restaurant I've ever been to that didn't serve chips and salsa while you waited."

  • "Served cold food on cold plates (yeah it's a Mexican restaurant that doesn't use hot plates)...the only thing colder was the service. The orders arrived at different times, our server misquoted a shrimp menu item and we questioned it, so she eventually offered to bring a side of rice or beans at no charge. Someone missed one of our cocktail orders so we had to keep asking people for it. We thought it would be fun place after a Giants game but won't ever go back, even if the late margarita was good...by the way everything is a la carte (menu items are not really an entree) so its a pricey meal. Ouch! Too many other great places to choose."

  • "We sat at the bar on a relatively quiet evening. After 15 minutes of waiting, no one had come to take drink or food order. We ultimately ended up ordering our drinks at the bar and eventually a server came over to get our order. The servers were extremely nice, but the service was excessively slow for the number of people in the restaurant. As for the food, it was ok. Nothing amazing. And in my mind, not worth the $$."

  • "Awful boring and bland! From the juice box like sangria( $28 a carafe!) to the teririble enchiladas this place is one to avoid. The food is bland bland bland! I can make better tacos at home with a envelope of Taco Bell,seasoning. The servers are frat boys who stand around and crack jokes, high five each other and fist bump at the passs while you struggle to get more water And don't get me started about dirty diaper in the men's room! The only reason to go is to drink and I would need to already be in the bag before I got there"

  • "We asked the server about his favorite Tequila and tried it. Unbelievable is all I can say. I've had a few "shots" in my time and found his choice in my top 5. The food was incredible too! My gf and I shared the empanada's for an appetizer and loved the flavors. We also shared the Pescado Tacos and the Pollo Mole'. Ahhh...the Mole sauce was fantastic. This was our Valentine Day choice for dining out and couldn't have been happier. My experience using Open Table to get the reservation was a cinch too! Will be using them as our go to spot to find a place to dine in the future."

  • "I think that this place has made a name for itself just because it's close to AT&T. Our server didn't seem to know much (perhaps she is new). It was a cold day so I asked for a Kahlua coffee - she wasn't sure the bar had Kahlua so I had to ask her to find out. When the beverage came, it didn't have cream on top and it was tepid which makes one wonder if the only thing the bartender can make is tequila-based drinks! We ordered a side of plantanos and instead of chips, they were more like a dessert, cooked in a sugar syrup. My Cuban sandwich was a bit dry but the other diner with me said her fish tacos were very good; although she thought they looked small when the came to the table, she said that they were very filling."

  • "Loved the service. Our servers were EXCELLENT! The bummer was that the food was WAY too salty and not very good quality. It was just hard to eat it and it could be so much better because they've got good menu choices. It wasn't as fresh as I'd hoped. The beans were soggy and rice just blah. Great chips and salsa. I would like to come back, but won't because food should not be that salty. Yech."

The chicken was very nice but the vegetables were poorly cooked - almost raw! Lots of empty tables which wasn't a good sign. I would look elsewhere next time."

  • "Tres on our radar for years but hard to roam out of the hood for Latin food for these 6th generation Mission natives. Tres is stylish, warm and inviting.Our waitperson was wonderful and warm. Margaritas blended for everyone's taste. My daughter ordered the Fideos and commented just like Nonnie's. The Carnias and Pork Tacos entrees were authentic and delicious.Tortilla de Lima soup with veggies, chicken in an incredible broth. Perfect ending the Churros and Mexican Hot Chocolate. Not impressed wit bland Beans and Rice and average Guacamole."

Quality/amount of food for the price is certainly not worth it, in other words, food is quite average. We'll definitely never go back. Not many vegetarian options."

  • "Very warm and inviting restaurant with all the brick and decor. Service was the best, as were the Margaritas (I only like them when they are made with real lime juice and these were delicious!) Food was very good. Loves the shrimp tacos and the Elote. Didn't much care for the flan with the corn in it though. Conveniently located a few walking blocks from ball park, where we were seeing Cirque du Soleil."
