The title says it all. This place
never, ever disappoints in the 3-4 times we've been here either as a Plan A or a Plan B. The wait staff has been the most attentive I've seen in years and the best part is their food isn't oppressively large yet you will always get your bang for your buck, especially the skillet cornbread, the fried chicken, and anything with kimchi. Kudos to their Korean interest too."

I've eaten here a few times and
have always wondered why I don't eat there more often. They offer a 5 course tasting menu that is stunning. The chef will talk to you about your likes and dislikes and then create a custom tasting for you and your party. The chef and the staff are fun and energetic."

Had a great dinner sharing some
wonderful small plates with a friend. Perfect for those who like to try lots of different plates for dinner"
Dined on 2/20/2014
Food was awful, menu didn't match
the one on OpenTable, no entrees available even after inquiring about them, tiny space overcrowded with obnoxiously loud people ("energetic" is one thing, screaming bar people next to people attempting to dine and have some sort of conversation is another), and way overpriced for the slop-passing-as-food that was served. Three hours later (yes, past midnight) had to go to another restaurant to get a real meal and better-tasting food. Will never be back if I can help it."

It's been a penchant of mine to
find culinary gems purely after Plan A fails, but there are zero regrets when it comes to Tremont 647 (and Sister Sorel). Be it dinner or brunch this place has not disappointed and the waitstaff has been some of the most attentive I've seen to date. Being a fan of Korean cuisine, I'm always intrigued by their attempts to infuse kimchi into their food whether it be through a sauce or a slaw, and they do a good job with it too. This is a definite must-go at least once in any South End endeavor."

My boyfriend and I had
reservations for Valentine's Day. We were sat as soon as we arrived (just on time), right behind the expo line, which we really enjoyed because we both work in a restaurant as well. I had previously read online that they could accommodate a vegan diet, which was great, because I'm vegan. When we got there, however, there was a prix fixe that did not include vegan options. I asked our server, who then spoke to the chef, and they happily told us they would make me a vegan meal, all the way down to dessert... and it was EXCELLENT. The food was amazing, the service was spectacular, and it made for a really special night for me and my boyfriend, who were visiting from out of town. We will be back!"

The Valentine's Day Price Fix was
great. We were both very happy with dinner and the specialty cocktails!"
Dined on 2/14/2014
We went for the Valentines day.
The appetizers (fried broccoli and Korean dumplings) were outstanding, as were the main courses (scallops and skirt steak.) The skirt steak was particularly excellent with a nice smokey flavor. The fregola side disk was spectacular; so much flavor. Sadly neither of us was as thrilled with the chocolate torte we had for desert, but it did not dampen the experience."

I was disappointed with the new
small plates menu. Food was good. It wasn't amazing."
Dined on 2/6/2014
Great service, accommodating
staff, fun, upbeat restaurant, convenient to theater, hearty food."

Recently in Boston on business
Tremont 647 was recommended by a friend. The vegetable options were wonderful after days of fast food. The location was walkable and ambiance fun for a Saturday night. I loved the small plates that were served when ready, tapas style. And what a delight to sit next to the grill and have the chef personally checking on us."
Dined on 2/1/2014
Went here to reconnect with a long
time friend and the noise level is too high and the food is ok- not bad but nothing to write home about. The wine list is not bad at all. Better if you go for brunch or in summer when you have room to move other why you are packed like sardines along the bar/entrance/hallway: multifunctional space."

Had New Year's Eve dinner
reservation, everything was fantastic. We weren't thrilled with the initial table offered to us and they were very accommodating in finding another table, even offering us a small appetizer while we waited. The prix fixe menu was just incredible - inventive, excellently prepared and absolutely delicious. Tremont 647 is a great spot for a special meal or romantic dinner."
Dined on 12/31/2013
We chose Tremont 647 for our
annual Christmas meal out. The food was pretty good, but the service needs to calm down a bit. First the food. I was a little disappointed that the lapsang souchong wasn't more pronounced in my Grayskull, but the herbal flavors were overall what I wanted to undercut all the sugar of the season. We chose the five course tasting menu, all of which was taken from the menu or the specials for the evening. All the dishes up to this point were served their usual size for splitting. We were served three desserts, which was a little too much. The service was over eager and urgent. The chef only spoke to my husband about the tasting menu and the waiter kept pushing us to finish our cocktails and start on the wine."
Dined on 12/21/2013
We went there for our husband's
40tg birthday. It was a special meal that exceeded our expectations. The food was delicious and the chef made our experiences unique and special. If we lived in Boston we would go again and again!"

Had a pre theater dinner at
Tremont 647. First time there and would defintely come back. Wanted to try the tasting menu but did not have enough time. The drinks, appetizer and entree were first rate and a very interesting blend of flavors. Wait staff (all of them) were extremely knowledgeable and attentive. A very good choice."
Dined on 11/22/2013
Great food and great service. Very
complimentary for large group - they provide a private room! overall this was a great experience for myself and the group of ladies I came here with. Will come back again for sure."
Dined on 11/23/2013
I received a giftcard for Tremont
647 and after reviewing the menu online, I was excited. They served complimentary foccacia bread with bean dip which was delicious (and they replenished the bread when we finished it!) and we ordered the Korean Beef Dumplings which were also great. I thought the portion was too small at first (4 pieces) but by the time the food came I was happy the portion was so small because the entree portion was very generous. I ordered the Grass Fed 1/2 Pound Burger Daddy which was huge and delicious. The fries were also pretty perfect. The staff were all very friendly and efficient."
Dined on 11/11/2013
Nothing special. It is loud in
there even when not crowded. It was extremely cold on my visit and I was so uncomfortable I couldn't wait to leave."
Dined on 11/10/2013
The menu was rather limited. I
expected a bit more due to all of the rave."
Dined on 11/2/2013
This restaurant was packed and
popular but we scored a reservation and were seated immediately. The volume made conversation difficult and you should definitely plan to come here with a large group of people with loud voices; however, the food was amazing and service was great. We had been aiming for a nice romantic dinner for two at a neighbourhood place and you might get that here on a Monday night, but clearly the busy times are super busy! We loved the generous servings and both the steak and the bluefish were fantastic - could almost not decide which was better. The wait staff were attentive (but not too much so), and refilled our water as soon as it was needed and revisited our table to check that things were ok."
Dined on 10/26/2013
My wife had pan seared bluefish
and I had cider brined pork chop. Excellent! Chop was tasty, tender, cooked just right. Nice apple taste. Bed of greens etc. were wonderful complement with enjoyable texture. Similar take on bluefish. My wife especially liked crisp finish on fish. Pear crumb cake was just okay. Service was fast and friendly -- but this was Sunday night and there were not many patrons except at the bar. Music and people at bar were a bit loud. But I always prefer quiet when I eat. They have a front that opens up to connect bar with patio cafe area.I definitely plan to return and hope that the food will be as good the second time."
Dined on 10/21/2013
The service was a step above
everything else the restaurant has to offer. Good food and attentive staff make this dinner place worth going to."

Tremont 647 offers new twists on
old standards and new items that should become staples (i'm looking at you fontina stuffed tater tots). Our group enjoyed everything from wine to dessert. The wine list is great with some excellent and high quality options (we went red and had two great bottles of pinot noir and merlot). We tried three appetizers - the dumplings, the lobster mac and cheese and the wings. All delicious and elevated far above your "run of the mill" wings, dumplings and mac and cheese. Everyone enjoyed their entree - I had the steak over corn and mushrooms and it was amazing. Fontina stuffed tater tots made the dish! For dessert we enjoyed the smores brownie and the banana creme pie. A fantastic meal!"

The outstanding aspect of our
recent experience was the chef/owner's attentiveness. Andy was in the kitchen and observed us moving tables to get away from a large, noisy group, and he came over and offered us a different table, one the hostess had previously said was not available. I don't fault her for having told us that, since that undoubtedly was her instruction, but Andy himself made sure we had what we needed to be comfortable, and that enhanced our experience. I'd say the place falls somewhere vibrant bar scene and neighborhood gem. The food was good, and the place got louder as the night wore on."

Thursday was very notable this
week thanks to Tremont 647. We shared a variety of small plates. The seared scallops on a bed of roasted cauliflower was perfect. The scallops were seared perfectly and the nuttiness of the cauliflower was just the right contrast to the sweetness of the scallops. The service was impeccable. The banana cream pie was the perfect ending to a great evening."

The food and service here are
fantastic, this is the cream of the crop of South End bistros."
Dined on 9/7/2013
My friend & I had the fish
entrees, they were cooked perfectly and the sauces were so delicious. Their ice tea was strong but good. I gad banana cream pie with chocolate bar. The chocolate was made from bacon & nut. It was very interesting. Overall it was very positive experience."

We were there during restaurant
week in late August, and it was not crowded. We ordered from the special, restaurant-week menu, and the food was terrific. Most of the appetizers and entrees featured local, seasonal ingredients. I ordered a salad with grilled peaches followed by bluefish that was grilled perfectly and set on a bed of corn and crab. The service was very good, too. My only cavil is that it felt a bit rushed. Maybe that's because we were asked to order all 3 courses at once due to the special menu, and because the place was not busy so the food came quickly. But we were there on an atypical night, and it's usually crowded, so I don't think being rushed is usually the case. I recommend it."
Dined on 8/31/2013
Overcharged for wine, lied about
menu costs, forgot about us for 20 minutes when we arrived"
Dined on 8/29/2013
Didn't feel rushed. Everything
came at the perfect time."
Dined on 8/25/2013
I came here for restaurant week
due to seeing some items on the menu that caught my eye. The wings are a must have but the cherry cheesecake although good was to rich for such a big portion. The staff were very attentive and helpful and the drinks were ok but not amazing"
Dined on 8/24/2013
We went for restaurant week as
I've never been. I love the idea of an open kitchen without being overpowered by the scent of food. Our server was pleasant and the food was very good. I would visit again."
Dined on 8/22/2013
We went to Tremont 647 for dinner
during Restaurant Week. They must have been having an "off" night. The food was fair, not good (except the Korean Beef Dumplings -- those were pretty good). The table was awkwardly situated and kind of long, making my seat kind of in the way of absolutely everyone walking into the restaurant. The waiter seemed brand-new. He was trying, but he didn't appear to have any experience at all. No spoon for the soup; asking us how everything was at the same moment the first plate was set in front of us. I've heard good things about this place, and it's close to work, so maybe I'll try it again some other time."
Dined on 8/22/2013
Heard good reports so decided to
check it out--alone--during Restaurant Week. Don't know if they pitied me or thought I was a foodie, but the staff could not have been nicer, gave me a choice of several locations (NOT the lovely quaint street patio, however ;) & even bringing me an extra starter "on the house", superb & much better than the one I'd chosen. My waiter was a gem, offered comments on designer drinks & wines (both of which were excellent) etc & just attentive enough. The menu did not disappoint, the crowd was jovial, & the ambiance loud, modern & spare, yet perfectly matched to this history brick townhouse neighborhood. I see why it is a popular Boston hangout & will be back!"
Dined on 8/20/2013
We go back to this restaurant once
in a while for the outdoor seating and people-watching. The food is okay - nothing special. This time I ordered a burger and it was very overcooked. I was hungry so I didn't send it back and give them a chance to fix it, but I ordered medium rare and the burger was grey and well-done. Also, the fries were flavorless. My date had the steak and he enjoyed it. The table bread and dipping sauce was the highlight of our night. Also, our waiter was really friendly and personable."
Dined on 8/18/2013
Unlike other tasting dinners I've
tried this dinner was tailored to our table based on our likes, dislikes and food allergies. We had two gluten-free diners at our table of four and the chef managed to to transform all but one dessert into a gluten-free gastronomical delight for all to enjoy!"
Dined on 8/11/2013
We actually had our first date at
647 on opening night. This visit is 16.5 years later with our 7 year-old. Still a vibrant and delicious place. And, the service team treated us like old friends when we mentioned our history with the place. I will say that there were some loud and obnoxious folks at the bar. Really inappropriate behavior. I think it was unusual but being a small neighborhood spot, the local color could influence the experience. The restaurant was very accommodating and ushered the lewd noise makers out pretty quickly. We will be back again soon for sure!!!"
Dined on 8/4/2013
My Girlfriend and I went there on
Sunday. Very load bar crowd on a late sunday afternoon. Liked the open kitchen. We had the Mac and Cheese with lobster which was excellent. I also recommend the Beer Brined Half Chicken. I wish it had a better side dish. The Potato Green Bean salad was ok. The Homemade stuffed Tater Tots were good (and Huge) also."
Dined on 7/29/2013
You wouldn't know it from its
modest exterior, but Tremont 647 has a wonderful menu and atmosphere. The sampler menu was incredible and the staff were knowledgeable and courteous. Great place to hang out and feel at home. If you're in Boston, make a point of going there."
