Diner Reviews
  • "Trellis is a very friendly restaurant with good food, attentive service, and reasonable prices."

  • "I don't usually take the time to review much. But we love this restaurant especially for lunch during the week. Food is very good. Fits a large group nicely. Upstairs patio is especially nice at lunch. We most recently went to celebrate a colleagues new job."

  • "food was very good and a wide choice of entrees. a professional bar person would be helpful; sauces require more variety."

  • "I really like this little restaurant...it's great for business lunches. The food is good and I look forward to working my way through their menu. What stands out for me with the restaurant is really their service - it's very very good. Their attention to detail really makes a difference and as a former Server.... I really appreciate what they do."

  • "My husband and I went here for Valentine's day expecting a romantic italian dinner. Unfortunately, they were overcrowded, under-staffed and had a very small version of their typical menu to choose from. We feel like we did not get to fully experience the restaurant which is upsetting because we love small, italian eateries. We finally looked at their normal menu they use daily and discovered they were charging TWICE the amount for each dish just because it was Valentine's day. So wrong. We will not be returning."

  • "There are many good places to eat in Menlo Park, this is not one of them. Overpriced, mediocre food, warm and stuffy dining room. The only saving grace is the service which was very gracious."

  • "I would say that the food was fine but not exceptional."

  • "Our first visit to this restaurant & it was delightful! We were seated upstairs in an intimate & romantic dining room. While the restaurant was clearly busy, all of the staff were prompt & attentive. Dinner was started with a basket of freshly made bread and an asparagus & wild mushroom appetizer, then filet with green peppercorn sauce & finished off with the tiramisu for dessert. Everything was delicious!!! We can't wait to come back & try more..."

  • "I booked a reservation at this restaurant based on the reviews - and so glad that I did. When we first arived at the restaurant I was a little unsure that it would meet my expectations; the wait staff almost seemed confused that we were there for lunch....odd! Anyway - we all ordered something different, and the food was fabulous - presentation was beautiful and the wait staff finally came to the party (don't know what was up with that....). I will definitly go there again - its a great place for a business lunch and I truly did enjoy the food."

  • "We enjoyed Christmas Eve dinner at Trellis - where the food is always very good and the service outstanding. We very much appreciate the attention of Kurt who owns Trellis and who ensures the quality of each dish presented. Not only do we enjoy special occasion dinners at Trellis but after work cocktails and dinner with business associates too."

  • "We went out fora nice after Christmas dinner. Salads were good, but a bit vinegar-laden. Calamari was excellent-portion is huge! The Veal Piccata and rack of lamp were excellent. Grilled chicken was good, but not exceptional. The raspberry-vanilla ice cream sundae was delicious. The wine list has nice selections in several price ranges. The staff was very nice and things were promptly removed when we finished them. It was a very quiet Sunday night, in the past the noise level has been higher, We'll definitely return."

  • "Food was marginal at best. Dark and depressing. To call it an Italian restaurant is an exaggeration. Place needs a serious overhaul in decor and in need of a chef who knows what he's cooking. Would never go back."

  • "There were 7 of us for Christmas Day dinner. Everyone had a different meal and loved their choice. The appetizers were delicious as was the desserts. The staff was polite and very attentive. I would definitely go there again!"

  • "This restaurant always comes through with delicious meals, warm staff and ambiance. Highly recommend it!"

  • "Room was in back and much too cold with back door constantly being opened. It was quiet because the rest of the room was empty and this was the best part of going to this restaurant. The food was tasty but much too rich for some of us (6 guests). I phoned to change the reservation time and the person agreed to this but somehow did not notify the staff. We probably will not return."

  • "come if you like the old italian restaurants in north beach (but they are better). portions are large but the food is average. bread is like in the old country, use it for sopping up sauces vs. eating as is (very dry). moderate priced but there are many better options in the area."

  • "Another favorite restaurant, which is consistently delicious! The food has never failed us, nor has the service. Some standout pasta dishes would be Susan's Downfall (cheese & herb raviolis w/ gorgonzola cheese & toasted almond sauce), the Fettuccine Carbonara (pancetta, peas & cream sauce), or the Cannelloni (two savory crepes filled w/ ground roasted veal, spinach & provolone cheese), yet the Rigatoni and Spaghetti are also delicious! I have also had the Grilled Boneless Chicken Breast (lemon-shallot sauce, mixed vegetables & grilled polenta) and the Beef Bourguignon, both of which are also winners. I haven't tried the fish, but my mother has, and has really enjoyed. And save some room for dessert! I highly recommend!"

  • "Trellis is a treasure that hasn't been discovered. We eat there many times of year, most often for lunch but occasionally for dinner. The food is always delicious. The owner/host gracious and the wait staff competent, though not yet up to the standard of the two waiters who retired. No one to whom we've ever recommended Trellis has been disappointed."

  • "Another wonderful meal at Trellis! We always have a great meal here. The atmosphere is very inviting and relaxing, the food is delicious, and the service is very helpful. I will often ask for recommendations, and have yet to be disappointed. If you're looking for a nice meal, and still be able to carry on a conversation, Trellis is the place to go! Highly recommend!"

  • "Our group of 8 appreciated that we were able to receive separate checks, and we enjoyed the quiet setting in the back of the restaurant so we could talk without disturbing anyone or having trouble hearing each other."

  • "We eat here often, and are never disappointed. The food is perfectly seasoned, beautifully presented, and cooked exactly as it should be. If you are a vegetarian, you can put together a lovely meal combining an hors d'oeuvre, a salad and, if you are hungry, a pasta from their excellent pasta menu. Last night I had a spinach salad and gnocchi with pesto sauce and the whole meal was fabulous. Their salads are very generous in size. Pesto gnocchi is not on the menu, but they will always come up with whatever you ask for, if they can."
