A word from Trattoria Zero Otto Nove
Roberto Paciullo’s hometown of Salerno is transported to the streets of Manhattan. Zero Otto Nove is the second outpost of his famous restaurants from Arthur Ave. in the Bronx. From the atmosphere to the food, stopping by Zero Otto Nove is taking a quick trip to Italy. The wood-burning brick oven is at the center turning out classics like the Margherita, and Roberto's originals, such as La Riccardo with butternut squash puree, smoked mozzarella, spicy pancetta, and basil. All the pastas are homemade, and all ingredients are brought in from New York's Real Little Italy, Arthur Avenue.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "We have been to Roberto's two restaurants in the Bronx and wanted to give the Manhattan location a try. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent as usual. Looking forward to trying the new location in Armonk."

  • "had tried numerous Italian restaurants in the area. ZeroOtto Nove certaily is the best in the area!"

  • "This is the best Italian food outside Italy. It follows the tradition of its sister restaurants in Arthur Avenue of homemade extraordinary Italian food. The portions are big suitable to have a tapas type experience. Great for groups!"

  • "Very good food and service. Relatively reasonable."

  • "Two New Yorkers and three world travelers from Sydney who wanted to try pizza in New York (their favorite was in Italy...) but didn't want to shlep to the outer-boroughs - we picked Zero Otto Nove because they have a home restaurant on Arthur Avenue. The pizza was great - thin but chewy crust, tasty sauce and good topping options. The kids loved the margherita; our favorite was the broccoli rabe & sausage. The pasta with truffles (a seasonal special) also got raves. For dessert, we loved their take on cannoli and the cheesecake. I rated it good instead of very good because the service was a little confused. I would definitely go again."

  • "Love black pasta with squid ink ! and grilled octopus is must, so soft and delicious, though a bit noisy and if you come with group, it's hard to talk ...anyway, will come back soon."

  • "Server and staff were attentive and responsive while not rushing any point of the meal. Polpettine, Polenta and Caprino and Rigatoni Salernitana were excellent."

  • "Service was great! But that was it. Food was just OK, some dishes were too salty. The meat was cook well, but the grill calamari were nothing special. Small pieces and a bit too salty, can't even rembrred how it was served! The meatballs were small without much flavor and a bit to compressed. Sauce was good but the dish was too salty. Salad the same, and the eggplant was sliced into thing strips. Placed on top? The cannoli was unrolled she'll was oily and the filling tasted just like cream no cannoli flavor?? Forccctcha was good the Italian bread was nothing special, just a veciel for dipping into the olive oil. Olive oil again nothing special. The atmospher was very null and it was clam and quiet, but no energy or excitement! Just ok."

  • "This restaurant used to be so good. I had a great meal with friends here back in early February. I went on Tuesday with a friend and we both had shockingly bad meals. The meatballs in the appetizer tasted as if they had been sitting in the refrigerator for about a week. The fish entree I had appeared to be a frozen fillet which was drenched in a tasteless tomato sauce. My companion had the seafood pasta special which had almost no seafood in the dish. Overall, a truly lousy meal and I will not be returning anytime soon."

  • " Regarding the food: I didn't care for my selection, Orecchiette with shrimp, scallops, & cauliflower. The shrimp were very little and the dish was 'fishy' tasting. My (3) friends thoroughly enjoyed their meals and the deconstructed cannoli they shared for dessert. I was disappointed with the service. Perhaps our server was just having a bad night or they were short handed last Saturday night...nonetheless, I had to get up 3x to find someone who could find our server and direct him to our table. Interestingly, there were more large parties (8-10 people) than smaller parties dining there. Good to know if you need to organize a birthday celebration! I'll definitely go back and try the pizza which is rumored to be fantastic!"

  • "Both the hostess and the waiter seemed to not care at all that we were there, let alone happy or satisfied with anything. Yet, the food was top notch and so that was good."

  • "VERY disappointing. My salad had marinated mushrooms drenched in vinegar. Sauce on pasta was anemic. Server substituted veg for potatoes on my wife order as though it was a very big deal. Plus---good negroni, foccaccia, olive oil. Won't be back."

  • "Yet another great meal was had at Zero Otto Nove. Always try the specials."

  • "We went here for dinner this visit to NYC after enjoying our expereince last year. We were not disappointed. Staff wanted to please. Food was very good. Pasta cooked perfectly - pizza authentic thin crust with fresh mozzerella. Will bea destination restaurant when we come back to NYC."

  • "The appetizer menu blew me away. The plates feature a selection of veggies, meats and/or cheese, and we chose one that was basically vegetarian. It was a mixture of hot and cold. Terrific stuff made with excellent olive oil. Like being in Italy. The homemade ravioli was fine, salad was what you'd expect. A fun atmosphere and architecturally interesting. We will definately return for those appetizers, and try some others. Oh, and the bread was excellent too!"

  • "we've been to the restaurant on Arthur Ave. and were excited to try this new location. food was very good, but like the ambiance of the other one better. we sat next to a table with an annoying toddler playing with an iphone that made a beeping sound the whole dinner. missed the baby octopus in tomato sauce that we had at the other restaurant."

  • "We were a bit disappointed in this place. Pasta portions were small, ravioli lacked contrast or garnish, but the pasta with sausage and broccoli rabe, bread, and branzino were excellent. Branzino came with no sides. Rabbit sauce was a bit strong and salty. Desserts were good, not great. Also, we wanted to split the bill (party of 3 and party of 4) but mgmt. didn't allow it."

  • "We needed a place where we could talk and enjoy the company of a long lost relative. Zero was the perfect place. The food was great and it could not have been a better reunion. We love to go to other places but none compare with Zero Otto Nove for value, atmosphere and service."

  • "The service was brilliant. A last minute find, but a restaurant I'd visit again. The pizzas were delicious, as was the risotto. "

  • "We went there for my daughter's birthday. We ordered pizza as an appetizer. One was a potato pizza and the other a margherita pizza. Both were delicious. We shared two pastas both amazing. Our waiter was very attentive. Overall a great experience. We will definately go back. "

  • "This place is great; but the food is just OK. I enjoyed everything enough but would never go back, unless I needed a place for big groups. My Radiatore pasta was mediocre, the octopus app was good, not great, good bread and the pasta special our friends got with truffles was very good though. The food was just "OK." Service and ambiance were pretty great though."

  • "I had been to Zero for after work drinks in the past, but never for food. I met up with my best friend for a work lunch, and we were so impressed. It's rare that I listen to menu specials and want everything on the list, and I only wish I had bigger appetite to enjoy more of the food on this menu! Our waiter was fast, attentive, and suggested the order that we enjoy our food based on flavor, and we enjoyed every last bite. I will definitely be back!"

  • "After theatre on a Sunday I went to Zero Otto Nove with 3 girlfriends. I chose this restaurant because I go to the original one on Arthur Avenue, which is great, so I knew this would be just as good and we were not disappointed. Fabulous bar, fabulous food, fabulous staff. Can't wait to go back. Bravo !!!!"

  • "On an evening when nearby restaurants were maybe a quarter-full, Zero Otto Nove was bustling. So, it also was pretty noisy, though we were seated in the very front and weren't in the noisiest place (it also meant we didn't see the most of the decor...). Service was brisk but correct, with friendly overtones. Best was the food, which was outstanding. Salerno-area-food is of course reminiscent of Neapolitan, but (in this case) also suggestive of Rome--no stereotypes here, pretty good food-variety. All in all: fine experience."

  • "Pizza, osso bucco, skirt steak were all great. The soft shell crabs on special were disappointing; no crunch, little crab flavor, the lemony sauce overwhelmed; should've known not the thing to order there."

  • "We were party of 5. Waiters were very attentive and made recommendations. Answered all our questions. Will accommodate gluten free upon request -no flour no wheat no breadcrumbs. Very good wine. 2 hours was not enough and we were not rushed. Desserts were awesome- profiteroles and chocolate cake great. Parking lot right next door. Thursday night was lively. Very pretty inside and nice bar. Will go back."

  • "I visited Zero Otto Nove on 4/5/14 with three friends to celebrate my birthday. The food was spectacular. All four of us sampled each other's meals, and each one was terrific. The service was exceptional. The waiters were very attentive and went above and beyond to ensure we had a superior dining experience. I would highly recommend Zero Otto Nove, and can't wait to go back!"

  • "No the same Italian quality as the Arthur Avenue restaurant. Pizza's were very doughy not crispy at all. Seafood salad was plentiful. Pasta was a bit too al dente to the point of chewy. Rabbit dish ha way too many bones, short ribs were chewy and veal dish just plain boring .Dessert was nothing special."

  • "Very good food, had the pasta with sausage and smoked mozzerlla, very filling, great meal! Dont forget to save room for the nutella pizza!"
