What a great little neighborhood
gem. Good food. Super generious portions. We were surprised that it was so quiet and there weren't that many tables/guests. Our server was pleasant and attentive - even overly so - but we think it because she didn't have enough tables to keep her busy and hopping! We'd go back in a heartbeat."

Other than a couple of salads on
the bland side and an too-done exterior to the short ribs, the food and service were good. Great atmosphere in a neighborhood location."

This was my first time there. I
read previous Open Table reviews and decided to give it a try - and very glad I did. While the menu is a bit limited, it offered enough for both a vegetarian and carnivore to choose from. The service was friendly, knowledgable, and efficient. Food was well prepared, flavorful, aromatic, and a nice portion size. Will be back soon!"

Great restaurant. Booked it based
on reviews and menu on Open Table and wasn't disappointed. Will definitely go again. Home made pasta was rustic and tasty."
Dined on 2/15/2014
Food was bland and average, wait
staff was loud and too fast paced for our evening. Wait staff kept trying to clear plates and glasses we were not finished with"

On Feb 3, I made reservations
using OpenTable for Feb. 14. I wanted a 7pm table. OpenTable reported that the closest time available was 5:30pm. So I booked it. There were lots of open tables all the time we were there. We stayed until approx. 6:45pm. There was no line as we left. I feel that there was openings at 7pm. Why did OpenTable report that there were no opening?"

We enjoyed our Salmon and red
wine. Thanks for being a welcoming place. Love the bread"

Came here for Valentines Day and
had never been here before. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was perfect, we'll likely be back. If you're looking for a date night spot, this is for you. Would absolutely recommend to others."
Dined on 2/14/2014
Had a superb dinner at Trattoria
Tosca, service was fine. Tues night was NOT crowded, different from the crowds that are usually teeming Thurs thru Sat."
Dined on 2/11/2014
I've had some really good meals at
Tosca. The sides are so good that I usually don't even order an entree, and they're a good size for sharing. My one complaint is that there's nothing "soft" in the restaurant to absorb sound and it can get loud when it's full and all those noises are bouncing off the hard surfaces. Maybe it's because I'm getting old but I really don't enjoy having to work so hard to hear and be heard when I'm trying to catch up with friends."
Dined on 2/8/2014
The food was good, the ambiance
could be enhanced, the waitress was more concerned about how she looked than being a good waitress."
Dined on 2/7/2014
mussel were sandy. brussel sprouts
were good. the gnocchi was not particularly good,"
Dined on 1/18/2014
We arrived early in the evening
and enjoyed a glass of wine and conversation. The salad presentations were beautiful and the salads were delightfully fresh. The home-made pasta balanced the hearty pasta sauce and the chocolate mousse was the perfect ending to our meal. I highly recommend not being seated near the center as the noise level increased significantly throughout the evening as more diners arrived. Overall, I consider this restaurant a neighborhood gem."

Everything was great in terms of
food and service -- but, one of staff requires some training in interaction with clients."
Dined on 1/14/2014
Gnocci was cold....beef ribs were
very good and the risotto was also quite good. May give it a second chance...."
Dined on 1/11/2014
Small and unassuming. Great food.
Very reminisicent of Italy."
Dined on 1/4/2014
We have been here before but not
recently and now wish we had not waited so long. Normally, I have the wonderful pasta dishes but I am now gluten-free so tried one of the other entrees. The short rib and husband had the chicken cacciatore and both were wonderful dishes, another thing we wish we had tried before. The service was very good and the noise level was just right for a cozy winter dinner - great experience, will be back soon."

Can't beat homemade pasta. The
scallop bruschetta was delicious!"

Experienced Trattoria Tosca for
the first time for my birthday this past Sunday. While we knew it wouldn't be too busy, at the time we arrived there was only one table. Good for us! Food was great! Will try again in the Summer."
Dined on 12/15/2013
The menu is small, but has very
different selections. So, if you want to try something different, then give this restaurant a try. The wait staff is very nice and accommodating."
Dined on 12/14/2013
We loved our experience here. Some
of the finest Italian food we've had in the twin cities. (And we've made our way through most). The wine list was outstanding. They also handled a special request without batting an eye. 9.5/10"
Dined on 12/6/2013
A wonderful selection of
appetizers, several tempting pasta choices, and, sadly, no room for dessert after our delicious meal! Looking forward to returning soon. The dining area has flexible seating capabilities, so groups of 8 to 10 could be easily accommodated."
Dined on 11/15/2013
I thought the food was average.
Good pasta but nothing remarkable. Same with the salads. The service was blah. The wait staff was not really engaged; didn't smile or attempt to make conversation. We had to ask for water refills. And when the food came out, they had no idea of who was getting what. The stand-out dish of the night was the braised short ribs. they were delicious."
Dined on 11/8/2013
This is the 2nd time we've been
here. 1st time, we sat outside on their deck.. This restaurant is a hidden gem. The food is amazing and the service and ambiance are friendly and quaint. Whether your looking for a place to take a date, dine and catch up among friends or have a quiet night out, this is the place to come enjoy a fabulous glass of wine and fresh tasting dishes."

Went on a Saturday night in a
group of 7 including 4 kids between ages 9-11. Located in a really quaint neighborhood just west of Lake Harriet. Surprised that at 7:15pm the place wasn't that busy and that it was as easy as it was to get an Open Table time during Saturday peak dining hour. About 2/3 full, but accoustics made it appear more full. Breads from the adjacent, and I understand affiliated, bread bakery were excellent. Food was very good. Had the strozzapretii (pork sugo) which was excellent. The artichoke dip was also very good. Prices pushing the high side for Italian, but again, worth it."
Dined on 10/13/2013
First visit and we will definitely
be back again. They recently added one of our favorite wines to the wine list. Everything was flavorful but not overpowering and prepared with great attention to detail. Felt like a wonderful night in Italy enjoying the evening with friends. Glad we ventured out of our typical dining pattern to try a new spot."
Dined on 10/11/2013
This is a great little
unpretentious neighborhood restaurant. The food is always excellent, big pours on the wine, and friendly service. Mix and match the "sides" for a nice variety and ample portions."
Dined on 10/5/2013
We had a lovely dinner, ordering
from a fairly focused menu that still had a number of interesting choices. The halibut special was exquisite, and my date really enjoyed her gnocchi. We topped it off with a cooke from Turtle Bread next door!"
Dined on 9/28/2013
The home made pasta was a hit. We
had a table of 8 and sampled many menu items. The wine list was wonderful. The Rufino Chianti and the Amarone were both lovely. We had a "foodie" with us and he had only great things to say. And he is very hard to impress."
Dined on 9/29/2013
My husband and I wanted to go out
to a unique place away from the Suburbs of Minnetonka, yet not downtown. We useed to live near the Linden Hillls area, so when saw this restaurant on Open Table, and looked at the menu, we thought we'd give it a try! We both loved our salads and our pasta selections. We then went over to Turtle Bread and bought some desserts and coffee to go! Loved our night, and now are planning on coming back with some friends!"
Dined on 9/29/2013
Food was very good. Homemade
pastas delish. Wait staff was very pleasant and polite. We were there almost until close and they didn't get crabby with us at all like some places do. It's in kind of a hidden spot, a nice find. The only downfall I could see (and this is completely out of the restaurant's control) is the noise level from the traffic if you're sitting outside, at least for dinner. Traffic did let up as it got a little later in the evening. Overall I do recommend it. =)"

I had pasta, it was pasta. Not
super, a bit on the expensive side. You're paying for ambiance. Its a good date spot."

Perfect night to be outside. beet
salad was divine. pasta with shrimp was very good but not fabulous like the beet salad. I almost asked to have it warmed up because it wasn't served hot."
Dined on 8/31/2013
I recently returned to this quiet
neighborhood restaurant because I had a wonderful pasta meal once before. I had the halibut fixed prix dinner and it was terrific. The restaurant is very charming and food is great! Not much traffic on a Wednesday evening, but don't overlook this restaurant!"
Dined on 8/29/2013
Enjoyed the dinner...wait staff
was very friendly and helpful. Loved the outdoor dining"
Dined on 8/25/2013
Disappointing second visit. Maybe
the chef changed or it was his night off, but food was badly prepared with little taste. Watery sauces, bland shrimp, store-bought tasting sausage. What had been a special neighborhood find will now be skipped. Unsmiling wait staff. Quiet because no one else inside. Sad all round."
Dined on 8/20/2013
Our first experience with
Trattoria Tosca was very enjoyable. The pear salad and the beet salad were very well prepared and not overwhelmed by dressing. Each is large enolugh to split for those so inclined. The chicken and hanger steak entrees were delicious and prepared perfectly. The accompanying roasted vestables with the steak were excellent. Again, each entree was enough for two, so you can either split or have some to take home. The wine by the glass selection was very nice and each choice was very flavorful. And Tosca gives full value in each glass with a larger than expected quantity for the price. We will return to Tosca to enjoy a relaxing evening in a very charming environment."
Dined on 7/28/2013
there must be some plants or
candles they can put outside to help repel the bugs that ate us as much and as passionately as we ate our dinner. The food was amazing and the service very young, but Minnesota Nice and polite. AC inside made it much too chilly to enjoy...otherwise a delightful summer evening made this new find very worthwhile"

My party dined at TT around 6PM
weekday. Only a few tables occupied; so we had a pleasant and quiet meal. Service was excellent and we enjoyed our time together."
Dined on 7/12/2013
We booked a 7pm Saturday night
reservation. As first timeers we weren't sure what to expect, especially with our guests from Santa Barbara who were use to great restaurant options. The food choices were excellent. Well beyond traditional pastas. The presentation was impressive. We had three servers attending to us and they accomodated a few quirks of our guests, on wine selection, with ease. We had a sunny window table which we chose over the more casual outside, sidewalk tables. I'm not sure how we got in at 7pm on Saturday with just 24 hours notice but we were all glad we did."
