The food was incredible! By that I mean it was prepared using fine ingredients in the style and fashion of San Pietro Italy. The soup was prepared from stock, not a soup base, as many soups are made today. They tomatoes used in the Ragu were fine quality, resembling San Marzano. Desserts were wonderful, several are made in house.
If you are looking for an incredible Italian restaurant this is it! If you are looking for a chain experience keep driving; this isn't it! Great food requires fine ingredients and a talented staff. I am often disappointed to find very few vegetarian options, and so was not surprised to find only a few interesting options. However, the cinnamon ravioli was very tasty. and Oh my- the chocolate and hazelnut cake was delicious! the staff were all friendly, helpful and service was timely. Will go again.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMBuona Sana Cucina!In a word "delicioso!" I rarely go out for Italian food. The reason? I make everything from Veal Saltimbocca to Zuppa Di Pesce at home. I'm fussy about what I eat....the ingredients...the preparation etc. Trattoria San Pietro is the one place, when I do dine out with friends or business associates, that I can count on, to serve authentic delicious food every time I have the pleasure of dining there.
I have a few favorites....The calamari which is done in a light red sauce and kicked up with capers and gaetta olives (I've tried this recipe at home). I prefer this style to breaded and fried calamari. The sauce is delicate, yet bold enough to complement the calamari. years. However, we just found this alternative and were quite satisfied. The food
is delicious and the service is great. The only wrinkle we could find is the owner, arrogant, and not friendly, even when we were telling him how great his food was. He was uninterested and seemed bored.
We will continue to go to their sister restaurant Cafe Strega because the food is wonderful and the staff is friendly and warm, making us feel extremely comfortable.
And we will visit San Pietro again, because of the food and the staff, certainly not because of the owner.

The special salad was excellent to share, all the pasta dishes are made fresh, the bread was also great. The place was busy but service was excellent throughout the night.
