Glad we got a coupon... Not the
best place I've ever been - food was expensive... without the coupon would have been $95 for pasta, a single glass of wine (shared), an appetizer, salad and the meal... all that said, it tasted wonderful... needs updating IMO to be able to charge those prices."

The waiters that waited on our
tables were not good at all. There was a woman that came to our table to bring water and to refill our glass and she never made any eye contact or say hi. Our main waiter also came to our table once in a blue moon and we noticed that he waited on the table right next to us that had two women and he made alot of small talk with them and also showed more care and compassion to their needs then ours. We truthfully had to flag him down to put in our food order as well as for our checks. Didn't expect that experience and quite frankly I was disappointed on an evening like that for my girlfriend and I on Valentines day. Will not go back there again."

Sunday night, six o'clock. Table
for six. Restaurant was quite busy, service was superb. Diyana continues to excel, and Jan at the front podium was on top of his game as well. Food was served on a timely basis, and a busy kitchen hit all its marks. Thanks again, TR!"

The food was bland, cold and took
a very long time to come out."

We have been going to Trattoria
Roma since it had been on Morse Road years ago when it was owned by Mr. Diapolo. The story was he didn't particularly like local Italian restaurants so he sent a chef to his home town in Italy and set up the restaurant after he learned all his favorite recipes. Since we have been going so long (25 years now) we have seen the food only improve. The latest chef/owner Matt is one of the best and Shawn, the other owner, runs the front room with style and a friendly grace. He took over from his dad that was the Maitre'd there years ago. We always feel welcomed like family and have never had a bad meal there. Wine selection is outstanding. The desserts are great too. The staff is knowledgable, friendly and helpful"

Sean and Matt continue to excel. A
wonderful meal, with fresh ingredients, including the special recipe Jewel Evans bread. Served by Diyana, who is a true professional. Topped off with fabulous desserts and Stauf's coffee. Thank you Trattoria Roma!"

On the dining side of the
restaurant (there is a small bar separated from the dining room), there is no competing music or other background noise; so, it's a perfect place for having conversation and simply enjoying a great meal. The lighting is appropriately set, so reading a menu and seeing the food when it arrives are easily done. After years of dining there, the restaurant is considerably above average with consistently good food and service! As I think about the experience, I appreciated the atmosphere as much as I did the food; so, I strongly recommend it for an all-around great dining experience."

I have lived in Grandview for
years and can't believe I have never been here before, but my husband is a Celiac so I figured they would not have much on the menu for gluten free folks. I checked out their menu online and I was so wrong! They now have gluten free pasta and will basically make any (with a few exceptions) on the menu gluten free by request. I had the shrimp diavalo and it was delicious, and my husband enjoyed gluten free pasta with clams. They noted his food allergy on our order to ensure that he would receive a gluten free meal which is always appreciated."

We enjoyed Trattoria Roma very
much this time. The food was good, not great, but good. Our server was excellent. The noise level was not a problem and for the four of us over 65, that was a plus. I have to say it was a very slow night there, but it was nice to be able to hear our conversation."

We went in for New Years dinner
with some apprehensions based on the mixed results of other reviews. Should have stayed away as the food was edible but not great! Anti pasta was piled on a medium plate without any presentation. Salads were good. Found it very strange that their meat plates were really all pasta plates with some meat. If your an italian food junkie then this is not the place for you! You can get the same ho-hum food at any italian chain."

Great service, food, and
wine. Always accommodating about revising ingredients."

Trattoria Roma is definitely a
cozy, romantic restaurant. It is dimly lit and the ambience is relaxing. It is a good spot for a romantic evening or a special occasion. Definitely a more expensive dinner option than other places."
Dined on 12/21/2013
Very comfortably decorated
restaurant with very good service. Food is average Italian. Several of us had spaghetti arrabiata which was OK but bland. The sauce looked and tasted like it had been sitting around for a while. Similarly, Caesar salad was OK but dressing was bland and salad had excess shredded cheese. We'd go there again but it's not a favorite."
Dined on 12/12/2013
I must say that I was pretty
disappointed with this restaurant during our recent visit. It took almost 2 hours to complete our lunch. The waitress was nice, but the food came out slow. It took 30 minutes to get bread for pete's sake! The salads came out after 45 minutes and the food was served at almost an hour and a half later and luke warm for that matter. Brutal! Needless to say, I will never be back."

Trattoria Roma does a great job.
Service is always outstanding, the atmosphere quiet and friendly. The food is always prepared well but for one thing, they tend to over sauce. When we order any pasta dish we always ask the waiter to have the chef back off on the sauce. And he or she does and its wonderful. This time we didn't do that because we had gotten the special, fish with a risotto, and the scallops with faro. It never occurred to us to for these dishes. But again, the food was nearly swimming. The sauces are always good but they should accent not over power. This is not unique to Trattoria Roma. Most Italian restaurants in the US tend to do this. So go, eat good food, just remember to ask the waiter to reduce the sauce on everything."

I had the spciy chicken gluten
free pasta and was very pleased with the texture, it tasted like regular wheat pasta! Just enough spice too for a nice kick. However, they do not list on the menu the up charge for gluten free, nor did they mention it when I asked....when the bill came that was an unpleasant surprise. The bread before the meal was just mediocre (according to my finance). It looked very soggy and limp. Another table's did look nice and crisp though, so I think we were given an old batch."

We recently moved to town from
Chicago, where great Italian food is on every corner. Trattoria Roma can stand with the best of 'em! Our server, Maggie, was awesome! We were very impressed...and we will most definitely be back!!"

From the unfriendly welcome to the
greasy food, not a wonderful experience. The crab appetizer was all bread and grease. The veal was mostly the same."

Excellent cocktails in addition to
wonderful food. Comfortable atmosphere."

Always great food and service.
Very busy night for them, but we were never neglected. Can always easily make changes to the choices of additions, I.e. Different cheeses on salad and pasta . Very accommodating staff."

The food, service and experience
was really great. As we waited for our table the bartender made one of the best martinis I've tasted! Definitely will return."

We really enjoyed the Dine
Originals options and pricing. It was great food and a fair price. Our service was prompt and welcoming. We will return again."

Food is average. We are done with
this place. It was better years ago."
Dined on 9/21/2013
We dined at Trattoria Roma for the
first time Friday night. The menu had a nice variety and the service was very good. The salads were excellent; the pasta was properly cooked with excellent sauces. I recommend the Bolognese, which had bits of "pot roast" instead of ground beef. The llnguine vongole came with fresh clams -- delicious. Our only gripe is that the wine list's cheapest bottle was $36! Seriously? They can't find a decent Chianti for less? Also, the bread was three thin slices of barely toasted Italian bread -- no oil, no butter. Other than those two criticisms, we loved the place. They just need to provide reasonably priced wines and decent bread to be outstanding."

Trattoria Roma serves some of the
best Italian food this side of Italy. My osso buco was perfect. They serve antipasto misto which is hard to find in most Italian restaurants for some reason. An outstanding menu with lots of unique items."
Dined on 9/14/2013
My husband and I enjoyed a nice
evening on the patio. The restaurant was not busy and we had not been there since they moved to Grandview. The salad menu needs to expand (add a wedge). I felt the dinner menu was pretty good, they should add a pick your own pasta, sauce, meat as some of the main dishes were somewhat challenging to figure out without asking the waitress."

We visited Trattoria Roma on Labor
Day and had another superb dinner. Everything impressed us. It's one of our absolute favorite restaurants."
Dined on 9/3/2013
We had never eaten here before and
were pleasantly surprised! We started with the Bruschetta alla Romana and it was great! I had the Conchiglia Amatricana and the Sea Scallops were cooked to perfection and great tasting! My wife had the Pasta Fresca and enjoyed it as well! The only food we didn't much enjoy was the desert. Ordered the brownie and it was very dry like it had been a day or two old and warmed up in the microwave :( Overall the price was pretty high but I thought it well worth it.... Except the $8 brownie..."

Inspired by Columbus' Restaurant
Week, my girlfriend and I decided to try out Trattoria Roma. I only live a couple blocks away and wanted to check out a local Grandview spot. I have to say that I was rather unimpressed by the quality of the food. The meals were bland; lacking greatly in flavor. I took a peak at the regular menu and was shocked to see what they charge normally for food. The food is not worth the prices. I appreciate supporting local businesses and restaurants, particularly those that source a lot of their ingredients from local farms. For that, I don't completely regret the experience. I just wish the food was better."

We enjoyed our dinner with friends
at Trattoria Roma. The service was friendly and efficient and the food delicious. Between the four of us, we tried a wide variety of dishes and loved them all. We highly recommend this restaurant to all."
Dined on 7/14/2013
Our waitress was more interested
in helping customers over 65 then us. I had no idea there were specials until we heard her speak to customers at other tables. She didn't check in with us after the food was served; only to present us with the bill. Quality food, but I'm not going back anytime soon."
Dined on 7/11/2013
I hadn't been to Trattoria Roma in
quite a while -- don't know why. But it was as if I had discovered a new restaurant again. It was prefect for the occasion. I wanted a quiet place where one could talk without loud music and outstanding food. TR fit the bill. The menu was extensive making it difficult to choose selections The ambiance was very relaxing and the service excellent. Will be anxious to return again."
Dined on 7/9/2013
The dining room was very nice...
simple, but sharp. The service was great. The server was knowledgeable about the menu. Also, we had a special request for an appetizer that was no longer on the menu. She (and the kitchen) very quickly and reasonably accommodated our request. I had a veal entrée which was phenomenal. My companions had the filet which was very tender and flavorful. Nothing could have been improved!"
Dined on 6/30/2013
First time we came here, I had a
good meal and my husband couldn't eat his, sent it back. They were very nice about it and took it off our bill. This time my mean was good, and my husband didn't care for his meal again, but did eat it. They do have a nice patio out front to sit on which was enjoyable. I guess we won't be back."
Dined on 6/19/2013
The service was wonderful That
alone almost made up for the bad food. The pasta dish had so many onions the noodle tasted like onions, now I love onions but that was way overboard. Nice place for a quite meal great wine selection."
Dined on 6/18/2013
Great place to enjoy good food in
a pretty casual setting. We ate outside on one of those few nights in Ohio when you would say it was perfect outside."

Shawn does a great job and Marcus
and the rest of the staff are awesome."
