Diner Reviews
  • "This restaurant never fails me. It is a welcoming oasis in a sea of frantic restaurants. The handmade pastas are always winners. Ravioli with asparagus was a real hit. Definitely will continue to return again and again."

  • "We love this restaurant, being our 3rd time return. The ravioli offerings are all spectacular, and the meat/seafood offerings are likewise perfect. This time we had two pasta dishes, and an appetizer. Combined with a perfect bottle of wine that the waiter kindly suggested (not the most expensive either) we had a memorable dinner for 2 for $138. The atmosphere is subdued, the setting is comfortable, and the food is delicious. What more could I want? The restaurant is steps from the Palmer House and other hotels nearby. We are not from Chicago, but I highly recommend this restaurant and will return again whenever I am downtown."

  • "The was good for pretty good normal Italian fair. The things that was not good was that waiter recommended a glass of white wine for my wife and it was $14. One should not recommend the most expensive glass of wine. Our bill was $125 before tip. Way to much for pasta in my opinion."

  • "We have eaten at Trattoria No.10 many times and it has always been one of our favorite places in Chicago. We had never been there, however, for lunch and this was a meeting with our son who was visiting the area for business - we drove 3 hours to get there. We wanted to treat him to a "special" lunch. Service was great - it was quiet and we could talk but the food was really very ordinary. I had the duck confit with quinoa pasta and I would never order that again. It simply was not pleasant at all. My husband had the asparagus ravioli and said he would never order that again either. Maybe the chef was gone that day?"

  • "was in Chicago for a board meeting and had a very nice dinner on 6/24, so when we needed a spot for a lunch meeting, I selected this very good restaurant again.....and we all enjoyed our salads, soups, and pasta dishes. Will definitely return!"

  • "We had a friend recommend Trattoria 10 while we were in Chicago and we truly enjoyed the experience. We had their homemade ravioli and it was every bit as good as our friend said it was."

  • "Recently dined at Trattoria No.10. It is a couple of blocks from The Palmer House and it was great! The food was delicious, our server attentive and the ambience was romantic. There was a larger group that was quite loud but when they left it was perfect! A must visit for Italian fare!"

  • "Normally very good, but I was not happy with the food last time. I don't know who was cooking. I had the Whitefish and the asparagus was overcooked and dry and the mushrooms were swimming in oil. Really not appetizing. Not what I expect from Trat. No. 10, which is normally very good."

  • "In a town full of red-sauce places, Trattoria No.10 is a breath of fresh air. Their speciality is a variety of homemade pastas, from several kinds of ravioli to farfalle to squid-ink black pasta--all absolutely delicious. Appetizers include a wide variety of hot and cold small plates--the wild mushroom crostini and the beet "ravioli" stand out. A nice selection of fish and meat dishes round out the menu, but I never get that far. The service is warm and helpful, with wait staff who are knowledgeable about both the food and the wine list. A wonderful experience."

  • "I have been enjoying wonderful lunches and dinners at Trattoria No 10 for over 25 years, and a pre-theater dinner last week was better than ever. Although the restaurant was very busy, service was excellent, and the seasonal presentation of a soft shell crab, kale Caesar salad, and small portion of mixed seafood pasta were perfect!"

  • "Great experience; one of our party of 3 is a vegan, and she was accommodated very nicely. All 3 of us enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and the wine. Waitstaff is courteous, helpful, and pleasant. We will go back again soon."

  • "I was happy to bring my out-of-town co-workers here to share this Chicago gem. I wanted to bring them here because the waiters have always been knowledgeable and fun, and the food is outstanding. We we not disappointed and they will remember the experience. We ordered the large-sized servings of a few of the ravioli's to share. These are the highlights of the menu. The dough is light and the fillings and sauce are awesome. Make sure you save room for and order the profiteroles for dessert! The highlight is the chocolate topping that is poured at the table."

  • "With in-laws born in Italy, I'm not impressed by restaurants who try to be so Italian-trendy, but have NO red sauce (not counting the extremely spicey) and pasta. The service was exceptional! Sarah made the meal fun."

  • "I took a group of 5 total to this place, and we had not dined here before. Liked what ratings said, so we decided to try it. The restaurant is downstairs (kind of interesting--lends to the ambience)....all of us were pleased with our salads and I loved my beet "ravioli" with goat cheese!!!I also loved the butternut squash I chose for my entree--and others at my table liked the asparagus ravioli and other items. Pistachio gelato and dark chocolate gelato were great, and others at the table liked the tiramasu a lot--the grapefruit campari sorbet too! would go back!"
    Dined on 6/24/2014
  • "Unfortunately, the summer menu is quite different from what we saw online in that there were no entree salads. The number of dishes is quite limited and some of the portions are outrageously small. The italian wedge salad is excellent but the price is way out of line for the smallest wedge salad I have ever been served. Ditto, the shrimp ravioli which were just OK but outrageously priced. Will not dine in this restaurant again."

  • "Excellent food - had two different ravioli's which we shared. Profiteroles to die for! I like the fact that main dishes can often be ordered in half portions as well as full portions"

  • "Love the ambience of this tried and true "taste of Italy" on Dearborn Street. Just learned of $14 Valet service that permitted late pick-up which was a great value and made a big difference this past weekend with stormy weather. Food was good, although lamb chops were not up to usual standards...only 3 small chops which arrived at the table at room temp. On the other hand, the Veal Scallopine was excellent and warm throughout. Lovely on-the-house anniversary dessert...chocolate gelato profiteroles. And, of course, service was exceptional."

  • "We tried this spot because of the proximity to the Bank of America Theatre and would have been satisfied with average. What we got was excellent. Downstairs ambiance is charming, service is highly professional, a good wine list, and varied menu. Be sure to try the ravioli."

  • "We had dinner reservations prior to the theater. The table was ready, service was excellent, ambiance cozy, food excellent. All six of us were delighted with our meals. I would go back in a heartbeat. The valet option was also perfect - we paid $14 for valet and our car was actually waiting for us when we returned from the theater. Gave the guy a $20 and called it a bargain. While all of us loved our meals, the butternut squash ravioli is just comfort food bliss. My bro-in-law isn't much of a pasta guy so he had a steak - and he says it was very good. Desserts also scrumptious. I have nothing to say other than "go"."

  • "Both my title and my review. If you can get home made pasta this good, why would you even look at the menu. Order a special, or two small plates of specials, or enuf for everyone to just share. Fantastic."

  • "We took a chance and made a reservation here for 6 people about a week ahead when we were unable to get a reservation at our other favorite Italian restaurant downtown. This is now our new favorite! The food was absolutely delightful, and the wine list had good variety and was reasonably priced. At 5:30 p.m., we were one of the first tables to be seated. When we left about 7:00 p.m. for a show, the place was full. Obviously, others like it as well. We will definitely return on our next visit to Chicago."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner. Our waiter (Michael) gave us excellent suggestions, the house chianti was quite good and we enjoyed the delicious food in a lovely setting."

  • "The food was very well prepared, nothing I hadn't already eaten but none the less it was delicious and well presented. The server was kind but somewhat detached. For the price of the food the service was severely lacking."

  • "Wonderful and dependable. Special seasonal dishes, locally sourced ingredients. World's best butternut squash and walnut ravioli."

  • "I returned for the supremely delicious butternut acorn squash ravioli...a delicate slightly sweet dish I dream about in occasion. We loved the soft shell crab appetizer, my husband had the veal scallopini. The waitstaff is knowledgable and unobtrusive. We dined in the bar area and it was quiet and pleasant. My very favorite Chicago restaurant. Can't wait for our next trip back!"
