Diner Reviews
  • "Trattoria Lisina is an excellent restaurant. I was a little disappointed because I had my pallet set for a linguini dish with scallops which I had eaten on my last visit. Sorry it was no longer on the menu."

  • "My son and I were visiting from out of state and really enjoyed our lunch at Trattoria. The Italian bread served with dinner was fresh out of this world... The salad and lasagna we're equally delicious and our server Jeff was so friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this restaurant!"

  • "Trattoria Lisina is where I always take guests visiting from out of town. The drive there is a taste of the hill country, and once you arrive you feel as if you are in Tuscany, or Napa. The food is not American Italian, but rather like the real deal from the mother country. I like to arrive about a half hour early. Check in and they will give you a beeper, then visit the winery next door for a pre dinner wine tasting. Your table should be ready about the time you have finished some tasty samples. Be careful, this is such a great experience that some of your guests might consider moving to Austin, and we don't need that!"

  • "This is our second time at Lisina. It better than the first. Our server was outstanding. We never felt rush and were served quickly and effectively. Great food and wonderful wines. Can't wait to return."

  • "Great food and service. Being out in the country with the vineyard makes for a relaxing dining event."

  • "We were supposed to have a designated parking session to park our classic cars in when we arrived. There were no spaces. When paying the check it was a mess & total chaos Good & service great, but we were supposed to have the designated parking to line up our classic card in a row & that didn't happen. I'm sure we will not have another rod run to your restaurant"

  • "I love to go here for dinner. It has the food, service and ambience....everything! I love to bring friends and family here. The grounds are beautiful....it's at a vineyard. It's very festive!"

  • "This is a great find just outside of the Austin city limits. Food is wonderful and ambiance is second to none."

  • "Everything was fabulous, even though we were surrounded by loud children. I wasn't really expecting children to be there, but that's okay. The food was so good that I had trouble deciding whether I liked my meal or my boyfriend's more. For what we ate, and the wine, it was a very good price. Our waiter gave us enough space to actually enjoy our food, instead of asking us every five seconds if everything was okay. Major plus!"

  • "Of 5 of us present, we each ordered different things and everyone was more than pleased with their selections. Our server, Curtis, made the experience exceptional. He knows just the right balance of personality and playfulness with being a great waiter. This place has already been "discovered", but if you haven't been, it's worth the drive out. If he's working, ask for Curtis as your waiter."

  • "We wanted to start our dinner with a Kir Royale, but found they don't have a full bar. Oop. Not really their problem. Where *their* problems started: ordered the lasagna. Server comes back "out of that". ... Ordered a bottle of wine. Server come back "out of that". Sigh. The food that we *did* get was outstanding. But we were disappointed that we couldn't get our #1 choices."

  • "When you first drive up to trattoria Lisina, you might think you are in Tuscany. The surrounding vineyards and the building itself remind you of Italy. The food was very good. My wife had pasta with a white sauce that was very well prepared. I had lamb chops which were excellent. The wine list was quite extensive with ample choices of both local and world renown wines. The atmosphere was okay. They tried to leave the fork I used for the appetizer with me for the entree. I asked for a new one. Not what I would have expected from a place like this. It almost seemed like the wait staff was more interested in turning tables than making sure this was a memorable experience."

  • "We love this restaurant! It appears out of nowhere in the middle of "lost land" Texas and it couldn't be better. Great food, service is always wonderful and we are always sure that our guests will be astounded - "Where did this place come from??" Feels like eating somewhere in the Italian countryside."

  • "We returned to Trattoria Lisina for another special occasion, this time our anniversary, and it did not disappoint. The food was excellent, as I remembered, and the atmosphere lovely. I had noted in our reservation that it was our anniversary and they had white linens and candlelight for our table, a very nice touch that didn't go un-noticed."

  • "A small group of us attended to surprise and celebrate a couple 50 wedding anniversary. It was a great and wonderful experience. Our waiter made great recommendations for food and wine. The area is beautiful. There were no children in our group but there were kids in attendance outdoors in the kid areas. What a great experience for all of our group. Thank you!"

  • "Normally it's not difficult to find vegetarian fare at an Italian restaurant, although when I looked at Trattoria Lisina's menu online, most of what I saw was meat based. However, once we got there for my wife's birthday, we found not only a pizza special but a number of side dishes that were veggie friendly. Between the two of us we split three sides, and along with the yummy foccacia bread we were quite stuffed. Not too stuffed to save room for the decadent sea salt chocolate cake dessert though. We'll definitely go back again."

  • "Arrived 15 minutes before reservation, was told we would have to wait until our reservation time to be seated, but others came in behind us with the same reservation time and were seated immediately, while we waited. Hostess said they were out of wine lists and the waiter would have to tell us what they had, without offering to find us a wine list. Also waiter told us they were out of bread and would have to bake more. Not a place for a romantic dinner because it was very loud. By this point we were wondering if we had made the right choice by dining here. With proper training, the staff could have handle each of these negative experiences much better. The food was outstanding, which was the one thing that save the whole experience."

  • "I felt like we traveled all the way to a winery on the Italian countryside! We arrived an hour early and enjoyed some wine tasting before dinner. We ordered what the waitress recommended, the pork tenderloin and ribbed steak. Both meals were AWESOME. Service was great! We will be returning soon!"

  • "My husband and I ate here the night we arrived in Wimberley for our wedding weekend and honeymoon. The food at Trattoria Lisina was outstanding. Our waitress was wonderful and very knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. She made two excellent recommendations which we enjoyed. We will definitely return for anniversaries to come!"

  • "When our family wants a special place to go, or for a relaxing evening out.. Trattoria is the place to go. We are so fortunate to have such a special restaurant right in our backyard. The food is great with a well rounded menu. The wine list is superb and the restaurant has such ambience. My relatives from BIG Dallas love the restaurant and we treat them when they visit. The wait staff are exceptional. Thanks for the lovely evening the other night with my family..we had a wonderful time."

  • "I have enjoyed all of Johnny's restaurants however this takes the cake! It is a very beautiful place for a romantic dinner with that special someone. The wait staff was very attentive and very knowledgeable in all aspects of your dining experience. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to have a special evening. Well worth the drive into the country to find."

  • "Me and my wife went out on a special date to this restaurant. I thought the food was ok, it was a little too salty and the menu was not quite what we were expecting having gone out to other restaurants by this owner. We did however like the location and the ambience was great. The service lacked a little because the staff spent much of the time talking to people at another table and was not attending to what we needed, but it was ok."

  • "Had dinner for two Saturday night. After some difficulty finding the place in the dark on unfamiliar roads, we were seated promptly and had attentive service. We started with the artichoke fritters, they were melt in the mouth good. Dining companion had pasta with boar, I had pork chop, both were excellent. The spicy arugula on the dish was a perfect complement to the pork chop. Finished with gelato(wanted the affogato but they were out of espresso) - chocolate and cinnamon were delicious, lemon was a bit too tart. This place reminds me of the food I had when traveling in Italy. Would definitely go back."

  • "While the restaurant and Mandola Winery are definitely off the beaten path, the food and experience are well worth the drive. The Tuscan architecture is beautiful to look at, and both the food and service are fantastic. We were celebrating both my daughter's and wife's birthday and it turned out to be an excellent choice for everyone."

  • "I had wanted to try this place for a long while and finally got my husband to agree. Everything was amazing. Mamma's meatballs and bread as an antipasti were phenomenal. My chef special and husband's shrimp and crab pasta had flavor in every bite. The mascarpone cheesecake ... There are no words to describe the awesome yumminess."
