Diner Reviews
  • "This place used to be better, but it's still very good. Up until around a year ago, they had a lot of interesting choices on the menu. Now they seem to be catering to less adventurous diners."

  • "Trattoria Lisina puts all the Italian restaurants in San Antonio to shame. Authentic gelato, awesome Italian coffee, excellent Italian wines, and even next to a winery and a beautiful vineyard."

  • "Wonderful staff, took care of us from the moment we walked in the door. Food was absolutley wonderful, pork chops were the best I have ever tasted. Wine recommendations were also superb. Could not have asked for better outcome, went for a very special occasion, glad we did!"

  • "If you need a get-a-way and a refreshing dinner, Trattoria Lisina is the place to go. You will feel like you are on vacation. Enjoy the atmosphere, wine and food. Lovely dining experience."

  • "This restaurant is beautifully placed in a quiet setting with great views. Food is very good and service is outstanding. I was impressed with the knowledge of the menu and wine list of the server. Price is worth it but high enough to limit to special occasion. Only complaint is that the noise level is high and makes discussion difficult at times."

  • "A truly delightful dining experience. Can't wait to return"

  • "It had been a long time since we'd eaten in a place that the food was so good we were determined to eat every last bite even though we knew our stomaches would hurt for a bit after from being too full. Bring your camera to take pictures outside as the scenery is beautiful!!"

  • "Have dined at your wonderful restaurant about a half dozen times; each time very enjoyable. What I particularly enjoyed about last time was that I had asked for a table "in the room with windows," and you honored my request. Only hope you can do that for us when business picks up after the summer."

  • "This beautiful restaurant and winery next door is so beautiful to look at, that it's worth the trip into the Hill Country winding roads to discover this hidden gem. My family and I ate there and while I expected the food to be mediocre -- in other words, paying for the scenery in a Tuscany-inspired environment -- everything actually tasted delicious. The Italian menu was impressive and offered a variety of proteins and entrees that would appease any picky palette. We all agreed this is a place we're coming back to. In fact, the area is so beautiful overlooking the vineyards that I would consider having my wedding and reception here if I decided to get hitched again ;-)"

  • "This place is out in the "country". The drive is scenic (no matter which direction you come from) and once you arrive at the vineyard, the view is gorgeous. Our waitress was extremely knowledgeable about the wine and menu. Our food was delicious! We will for sure be back - maybe even next weekend!! Make a reservation . . .they are very busy."

  • "A world class restaurant in a country setting, overlooking the vineyards. The food and service is outstanding. Well worth the drive from Austin."

  • "We love eating at Trattoria Lisina. Everything we've ever eaten there we have enjoyed. The service is splendid, with great recommendations from the menu and attentiveness to our needs. Would recommend this for a date night, dinner out with friends or family (minus your kids - please spare the other patrons there)."

  • "Great food, great service and a beautiful setting. Was crowded due to a special function but the restaurant handled it like no one else was there"

  • "Our experience has alway been amazing. This time everything was still good as far as the food quality and atmosphere. Amazing food and the place is gorgeous as usual. The only minor thing that rubbed me a bit wrong this time was that my bill came to about 65.00$ and I gave the waitress a 100$ bill and she assumed she got to keep the rest.By no means am I cheap but I feel assuming that you get a 55% tip is a bit much considering she was not the best waitress we have had there over the years. It took her so long in between checking on us,almost as if she would see us and realize she forgot to being us our desert or our bill."

  • "Every time I have come to this restaurant, I have never been disappointed. The Osso Buco is fantastic, as well as the asparagus salad. The rabbit is moist and very tasty. Desserts are well done with a wide selection."

  • "This was not my first visit to TL, so I had very high expectations going in. The place was very busy for a Saturday night, good sign. But unfortunately, it was understaffed. Our waitress was great, but she just simply had too many tables to provide the level of service that I expected. No one came around to fill up water glasses until one hour into our dinner. The calamari was overcooked & chewy, and despite the fact we only took one bite the waitress never even asked if there was something wrong with it. ??? Despite the disappointing service, the Anipasti Plate & Lamb Chops were superb!"

  • "The whole place is beautiful. When you turn off of the main road, you get a view that is as close to Tuscany as I have seen. The food is always great at Trattoria Lisina."

  • "Lunch is only Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Food is wonderful as is service. Only negative: It's too noisy. Management needs to work on reducing noise through either passive or active methods."

  • "WOW! How have we missed this restaurant for so long?! The setting is romantic and welcoming. Kate, our server was bright, friendly, attentive and professional! The antipasto; ham, salami, prosciutto, cheese and olives was just right for starting our meal. The seafood carbonara that followed was delicious! Creamy and chocked full of shrimp, and muscles! The pasta was cooked to perfection. Considering that Lisina is on a winery, the wine list held up its end of the bargain! Give this place a try the next time you are in the Wimberly area, you wont be sorry!"

  • "We were pleasantly surprised by Trattoria Lisina as we had seen the signs on the Hwy but never took the chance to try it out. We made an early reservation, (4:30 PM) after skipping lunch and it played quite well. It's nice to have a place open in the early, early evening. The properporty makes you feel like you are transported to the Italian Countryside much further away the Central Texas. The elegant interior opens up to a veranda seating that is intimate without being over crowded. Our superb server (Chase) was sensitive to many details especially the timing of the food coming to the table. As far as the food, the chief clearly understands the intimate Italian cooking. It's worth the drive, let's end it there!"

  • "The service was slow. The table next to ours turned over twice while we were there. Brought oil, but no bread. Tried to serve our table the wrong food twice. Noisy. The cheese fondue was good. Unsure why butter was was served with calamari. Brought 3 entrees but not the fourth. No mention of our "special" event we were celebrating until we left. They did comp dessert to "apologize" for the service. 2 our of the 4 diners loved their entrees (brined, roasted chicken and sphaghetti primerva). The other 2 diners didn't comment (rib eye and stuffed white fish)."

  • "Walking in to Trattoria Lisina is just like walking into a true country restaurant in Tuscany. The ambience, delicious smells and vibrant atmosphere immediately transport you far from the Texas Hill Country. The food is delicious and well prepared. We had the Veal Shank, (enough for two) that was falling off the bone tender and the Pork Chop topped with wild cherries that was delicious too. Both dishes were served on fresh polenta that was so good it would of been a meal by itself. We have been here twice for special occasions in the past 9 months. The food was constantly excellent both times. The service we had on our this visit was good but not great as compared to our last visit. If you need an visit to Tuscany -try this place!"

  • "My wife had eaten here for a 40th birthday party and raved about the food. We went with two other couples and they raved about the food as well. This is the best Italian food I have ever tasted. The Mama's Meatball appetizer are the best meatballs I have ever eaten. People in our party had pizza, ravioli, lasagna, and the grilled asparagus salad (sorry I don't have the technical names) :). By the way, watch out for the bread and olive oil.....it's easy to eat too much of that!!!!!!! Great Place!"

  • "After going to this restaurant twice in the past couple of months with no seafood choices other than scallops, the third time they delivered and it was truly outstanding. Also, many new menu items and old favorites have returned."

  • "Our casual Friday wedding luncheon was exceptional in all areas. Everyone enjoyed the food, presentation and service! The homemade pasta, the rabbit, risotto and the primavera received ooos-and- aahhs. The awesome team made sure we had both the Chocolate cake and the Italian cream onsite and delivered to the table with our cake toppers AND a round of appetizers arrived at the table per our request on their easy to use online reservation system. The food, the wine, the setting was perfect for celebrating our romantic event. Great views, fountains and archways in the gardens made for great photography. Go for lunch or dinner - return for that special event!"

  • "The Trattoria Lisina does not seem as good as it used to be. The insalata mixta has changed totally from what it was, very boring compared to previously, missing some good ingredients and unique baked parmesan "cracker" garnish. The waiter mentioned a special wine, then they were out of it when we said OK. Gelato is missing the contrast of large and lovely crunchy cookie always included formerly. Pizza is now overdone and dry. Still good though overall, some tasty and different dishes like the carrots with fennel, yummmm. Best of all is the far out of the city setting with beautiful Tuscan-style architecture and garden to stroll in after dinner with view of lush grapevines."

  • "I always enjoy this restaurant, the location/scenery, the wait staff, the food and the wine. However I will say that the last two times I've had the osso bucco it is not quite right. It should be brown and carmelized. It is good but it could be so much better and was that way the first couple of times I had it here. The antipasti, gelato (sadly, no chocolate) and wine were perfect."

  • "We have never been disappointed in Trattoria Lisina, but Sunday, Father's Day it was just average. The service was verrrry slow and our food was just average instead of the usual delicious! The gelatto never disappoints however!"
