Trattoria IsabellaLovely West Loop GemTrattoria Isabella has a lovely outdoor patio and bar with gas heaters if the weather turns a bit cool. We opted to dine indoors. Floor to ceiling windows in the lovely dining room give a stunning streetscape that includes nearby EL trains. The indoor bar features a wood burning oven, so you may watch your Pizza (we chose Margherita) as it bakes. Waitstaff was attentive without hovering. Waitress Victoria was very knowledgeable and helpful with wine selection as well as entrees. We selected daily specials, and were not disappointed with the seafood's freshness and flavor. Try capping your meal with the Limoncello flute-light and refreshing! All in all, a satisfying dining experience. We started with the salmon crostini which was wonderful! We each had the green bean salad which was fresh and tasty. Our entrees of pork chop and the Mahi Mahi with limone and capers were deliciously prepared along with fresh spring vegetables. As a surprise, the waiter brought a piece of tirimasu with a single lit birthday candle, that was excellent. Our waiter Ryan was knowlegeable and attentive was was the rest of the staff. We will be back. The outdoor seating area opens next week and with the tables and lighted umbrellas, it looks like a fun place to spend an evening!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA very nice dinnerWe took my elderly parents here for an early dinner on Saturday and it was very nice. I had emailed to ask for a quiet spot, and we were in the front corner by the window. They even turned down the music when it was apparent they couldn't hear the server tell us the specials (the music was too loud anyway). We split a couple salads, which weren't our favorites. The caesar was very heavily dressed and the wedge wasn't as expected -- not dressed well. Our entrees were all good and the service was good. We were immediately and energetically greeted by the host who couldn't have been more affable. We found the wait staff to be extremely attentive and knowledgeable -- steering us to an outstanding appetizer (the grilled calamari was the best I'd ever eaten). The entree's were fantastic and the wine list was filled with some terrific Italian vintages. This place is a gem. We both enjoyed it a great deal; the food is excellent, and the service is equally as good. Their saussage is exceptional and from the moment one enters you can relax. they have captured a nicely balanced middle ground with their menu. Veal is tender and pasta perfect.
