A word from Trattoria Fantastica
Many restaurants in Little Italy have become destinations, among them the Busalacchi family's Trattoria Fantastica. The rustic décor features a relaxed country-style feel throughout the restaurant, including the delightful patio. The wonderfully welcoming atmosphere celebrates yet another delicious Sicilian food lineup, including pizzas and all that you would expect from an authentic Italian menu. The terrific entrées show the Sicilian influence, and fill the restaurant with great aromas.

We would love to hear your feedback on your experience.

Diner Reviews
  • "Love this place! And the Italian bakery is fantastic!!!!! Great service and great food. Our waitress was a sweetheart. Corking fee is $15 but they have great wine there. So either way you are all set. We had a reservation for 6 and it was ready when we walked in."

  • "Went to Open Table to make a reservation to a different restaurant and was unable to get the time i needed. Trattoria Fantastica was suggested as an alternative and since we were looking for Italian food we decide to try and it was great for our family. We had family in every age group including under ten and we all had a great time. Recommend the Lava Cake for the chocolate lovers. We will be back."

  • "This restaurant provides great food, and service. We went for dinner, and ordered pizza and pasta which was very good, our server was attentive and had personality (a rarity in today's cookie cutter restaurant world. I would highly recommend Trattoria Fantastica to any friend looking for a good meal in Little Italy. I only dinged them on the ambiance, as this is a checkered tablecloth type place, and brown butchers paper on top. This type of look just can feel tacky at times. The outdoor dining is quite pleasant and would be amazing on a nice summer day."

  • "Have eaten here a few times and really enjoy their pizza. I ordered the margherita pizza which had a great thin crust and fresh herbs on top. My friend ordered the chicken parm with pasta and said it was fantastic. It was very busy that night and the ambience was dynamic. Will definitely return to the restaurant."

  • "My wife and I wanted to find a place that was quiet for a New Years Eve dinner. We thought this place would be a little more romantic, but it was packed to the brim. We had mostly families on vacation around us, and could barely hear each other. Food was good and service was pretty good until we got our food. I had planned to order another round of drinks when the food came, but the waiter didn’t come to check on us until I was almost done eating. We got desert at the wine/coffee bar that is attached and that was great."

  • "We had an okay time taking our grandchildren to the restaurant. However the food was only ok with the cexception of the night special , all the staff was very friendly. I would go back only because it was easy for the children, otherwise I would sample some of the neighboring restaurants."

  • "I cannot say enough about this place. I was in San Diego on business and had some free time on a Wednesday morning and early afternoon. The restaurant was bustling already at 10:00 and there seemed to be a lively crowd of regulars. Alvina was my server, and she was nothing short of excellent. The hostess, whose name I did not catch, was very nice and courteous when I arrived early for my reservation. She informed me that breakfast was being served until 11:30 and asked if I wanted to wait for lunch, which I did. She seated me right away when I came back 25 minutes later. Now for the food. The food was excellent. I love the focaccia bread they give you to start with, the caprese was terrific and the Contadina pasta was out of this world."

  • "Good food, but not outstanding. Service was good, but not great. Restaurant had a nice old world feel with Italian music playing. It was a bit loud, but when we asked to have it turned down, they did and it was much easier to have conversation. The music was a lovely touch once it was turned down. Overall experience was fun."

  • "Good food for the price. Great service. Only complaint is the loudness of the music. We had to ask a couple times to have it turned down so we could hear one another."

  • "From out of town. Picked it from OpenTable. Completely happy. Little Italy in San Diego on a Saturday night is hopping. Wow. Would not have been seated without the reservation. Food was very good. Pasta delicious. Wait-staff could not have been more friendly and attentive. I would 100% come back here. Great variety of Italian dishes. Reasonably priced, clearly."

  • "this is one of our favorites in Little Italy. Never disappointed with the food or service and sitting out on the patio you think you are in a rest. in a small village in Italy. If you haven't, try the Appetizer for Two, a meal in its self and great assortment."
