Trattoria DivinaGreat findWe have lived here for almost 7 years and finally tried Trattoria Divina. We are happy we did! We loved the food, recommended by the waiter, and just the way it was all served. The timing of the different courses could not have been better, and the style and way it was served was greatly appreciated. Especially loved the glass of champagne given as a welcome when we arrived. Will definitely go back. I only mention a moderate noise level as there was a child that was not happy to be there, so that is always a trying time for the parents. We ate there last year and had such a great meal, we went back a few days later. When it was time to come down this year, Trattoria Davina was one of the first places we made reservations at. We ate there tonight and everything was perfect, starting with the complementary glass of proseco and ending with the desert. My wife, who is gluten free, had a fantastic pasta dish with shrimp and scallops, Capasante alla Divina. I ate the linguini alla pescatora which had about 7 different types of seafood in a great spicy tomato sauce. Both were excellent. First, our waiter suggested what turned out to be an absolutely wonderful bottle of wine (Falanghina Feudi di San Gregorio). As we were thoroughly enjoying the wine and had just finished the delicious mussels starter, a very large party was seated behind us. They obviously felt that they were the only patrons there as they shortly began speaking to each other at full volume and cackling wildly to their idiotic banter. We withstood the auditory onslaught as long as we could; then asked to be moved. The staff responded to our request without hesitation.

We sat in the wine room, were there was minimal noise (though it was on a Monday and probably not the busiest day). Everything was done well, the service was great, ambiance was fantastic, the prices were decent, and you couldn't ask for a better wine selection. The only complaint (which is not really a deal breaker) was the 12oz New York Strip had been under cooked, but only on one side, which seem odd. My lady and I were first-time visitors to Hilton Head. I really wanted to take her to a great restaurant, and I came across this restaurant online. I'm partial to Italian restaurants because I have lived in Italy. The staff was great from the moment we walked through the door. My lady and I felt extremely comfortable, the service was great and courteous, the meals were incredible. My lady exclaimed again the following day that the food was excellent. That made me feel great of course, but it wouldn't have been such a great evening if it weren't for the whole staff. I am very very VERY pleased and thankful for such great attention. Our server, Dominic, was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. We were greeted with complimentary prosecco, and also (before ordering) a sample of their bruschetta - very good. The warm bread was served w/a smooth hummus that tasted of olives - very good. We had the Calamari appetizer, so lightly breaded yet crisp, with a spicy aioli sauce - loved it. My entree was the Sea Bass - large portion - and was excellent. My husband had the Lobster-stuffed Ravioli - also wonderful - loaded w/lobster and the sauce was great. Service was excellent. It is truly one of the beat dining experiences I have had, and everyone in our party of eight echoed that sentiment. My lobster ravioli arrived with a cream-colored sauce on it and I winced, as rich dishes are not my thing, but that sauce was incredible--light and flavorful and made the dish. My Bibb lettuce salad with almonds was perfectly dressed and SO delicious. We were here for a milestone birthday celebration and the staff couldn't have been nicer and made the occasion so festive. Atmosphere is classy but friendly and you can actually carry on a conversation. The menu is not extensive, which allows the chef to focus on preparing truly fine meals. There are several interesting appetizers and salads, and the staff will split the salad for you in advance of serving if you want to share. The chef's catch for this visit was sashimi grade tuna seared and served on a bed of grains and crisp vegetables. I had planned on having pasta, but was certainly glad I made this choice. The tiramisu is outstanding, as is the molten lava cake.
