Trattoria di MonicaHot spot, in more ways than oneA friend who frequents Boston recommended this place. He said they make it a point to eat here once every time they are in town. So we gave it a shot and were not disappointed. Tiny little hole in the wall place in the North End; probably no more than ten tables! Very romantic, simple decor. We split a bruschetta appetizer, a spinach salad, and then some sweet potato gnocchi (their nightly special). All of it was exceptionally good, but the bruschetta was my favorite. Also the was no fee to split the meal, and it was plenty of food. Decent wine list, though not very extensive. The service was good, but we had 2 waitresses, so it was a little confusing. Only other issue was the broken ac. Being from Houston, the heat wasnt bad.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat little spot in the North EndHad a wonderful meal in the North End at Monica's. All four in our party enjoyed our selections. However, like many small restaurants in the North End, Monica's is not air conditioned but we would not hesitate to go back.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMReally Enjoyed ItDefinitely holds its own against most of the restaurants I've been to in the area.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGood spot for lunchRainy afternoon, but brick walls and quaint tables with good food and service made it a great day. Plum tomato soup was outstanding!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat pastaWonderful dinner. Food choices great. Prepared and delivered perfectly. Enjoyable staff.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMVery crowded, VERY noisy,Very crowded, VERY noisy, but there's no alternative if one wants to eat this excellent food.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMQuaint & excellentIf you show up on a weekend, expect to wait quite awhile for a table, even if you have a reservation. However, eating at Trattoria is SO worth it. It is truly an experience to eat here because the place is so small & unique. The food is excellent. Some of the best options & flavors I've ever had! They have many vegetarian options too.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat little restaurant. AGreat little restaurant. A little off the beaten path in the North End - not on Hanover Street. Been coming here fora long time and the food is always very good. Wait staff is always very friendly,5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMA FavoriteBeing Italian, I come with high expectations to most Italian restaurants. Most of the time my reaction is something like, "Good, but doesn't compare to my mothers". Monica's was unbelievable from start to finish. From the apps to the desert, everything was incredibly delicious. I would go to the extent to say that it is by far the best Italian not only in the north end, but in Boston. The food is so good that any other factor of the restaurant becomes irrelevant. This place is my new weekly spot!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat North End RestaurantThis was our first visit to Trattoria di Monica and we loved it. It is small and intimate so a reservation is a good idea. We were seated immediately at 7pm and had a wonderful, relaxing dinner. The food was excellent - many choices. A big step above other North End restaurants because of the choices and variety. The wine list was very nice. We will definitely go back and highly recommend it to others.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMHomemade brillianceThis is the best spot for homemade Italian food in the north end (or anywhere in New England). Everything is made from scratch. I don't know why they have a menu because they offer 25+ specials a night. Truly great food and service.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMNorth End GemWe love this place. Always a list of specials longer than the menu. Everything is very fresh. The best pesto ever. The restaurant is very small, so make a reservation.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMreally enjoyable experience.really enjoyable experience. Very quaint setting. Awesome service. ThisAbsolutely phenomenal! This tiny restaurant is a perfect hole in the wall jem! Every course was prepared to perfection and the homemade pasta was out of this world. It's a little crowded/tight for larger parties and the menu items are a little pricey but 100% completely worth it. If your looking for an authentic Italian meal-you will not be disappointed!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMAmbiance was outstanding.Ambiance was outstanding. We always have a great time! My visitor from the UK appreciated the fresh pasta-he is a world traveler so he knows great from average.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful North End treat. It's a very small cozy space. The wait staff was attentive and shared a large list of specials that supplemented an already amazing menu, making it even harder to choose. We had arancini, fried zucchini blossoms and bruschetta. The arancini were amazing. My husband had the scallops with black fettucine and they were great; my daugther had gnocci and was in heaven. I had the special which as veal cutlets, brussel sprouts, cauliflower and gnocci in olive oil and garlic. It was good, but I was wishing i had ordered something with one of their sauces (like the vodka sauce with the lobster ravioli...). We'll definitely go back to try some of the different menu items, and maybe save room for dessert.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
