A word from Trattoria Dell'Arte
Across from Carnegie Hall, Trattoria Dell’Arte features the largest antipasto bar in New York, a sprawling selection of seafood and vegetable specialties perfect for parties of all sizes. Designed after a Tuscan artist’s studio, the rooms include half-finished paintings, oversized sculptures of fragmented body parts, a gallery of Italian noses, a wine cellar dining room, and candle-filled private rooms.

The menu focuses on northern Italian specialties such as the steak Florentine, double veal chop, seafood specialties of the Mediterranean, and unforgettable desserts.

Diner Reviews
  • "It was unbelievable how gracious they were to the four os us. We were seated at the window as requested and they were ever so generous to us throughout the evening as we were celebrating 2 birthdays and 2 anniversaries. We couldn't have had a nicer time and a more memorable celebration. The food was wonderful, too. Can't wait to return."

  • "Before the piano concert at carnegie hall, it was a very nice location and food/service was excellent. It is little noisy but really good."

  • "Your staff is the most amazing group of people. From the moment I walk in the door I feel so special every time I visit. The food is to die for. A must try is the Veal Parmagian! Split the veal and order other items to share...I'ts a must have every time I come to NYC. Most of all I visit because of the staff! Cheers Trattoria!"

  • "Because we had dined at Trattoria Dell'Arte in the past, perhaps we had a romantic notion of what the experience might be. However, having spent the last 13 years dining in the city as part-time residents, and enjoying a variety of great restaurants, it's clear to us that Trattoria Dell'Arte is another opportunistic restaurant taking full advantage of the theatre and tourist crowed. It's was disappointing to us to be finished with our meal in fewer than 40 minutes with a bill of over $100 for mediocre bread, re-heated lasagna, and a plate of fish. We will never return."

  • "Great brusels sprouts and lobster carbonara , service is outstanding no matter the crowd or rush hour"

  • "Table was ready when we arrived although we asked for a different table because their 2 tops are far too close together. I would not have been happy of we had not been able to change. The service was excellent. Attentive but not over bearing. Appetizers came very quickly and had a great wine recommendation. Entrees were delicious as well."

  • "This food is always great here. They have the best pizza and cannoli in the city."

  • "I have never had anything but a great meal here. The food is amazing and consistent. Too many wonderful choices. The service is perfect, the atmosphere is perfect, and the menu has too many good choices."

  • "AFTER PASSING TRATTORIA DELL'ARTE FOR YEARS WE FINALLY MADE A RESERVATION. THE MOMENT YOU STEP IN YOU ARE GREETED WARMLY AND MADE TO FEEL AS IF YOU ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON THEY EVER SERVED!! THE DECOR IS EYE-CATCHING, THE WAIT STAFF WAS IMPECCABLY GROOMED, WELL SPOKEN AND KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT THE DISHES--WE WERE NOT RUSHED, EVERYTHING WE ATE WAS DELICIOUS, THE SERVICE WAS WONDERFUL--A GREAT DINING EXPERIENCE AND I CANNOT WAIT TO RETURN!!"

  • "The staff was warm and friendly and professional. The antipasto bar was unique and had a great variety. Waiter was excellent, knew the menu and was attentive. We felt the food overall was nothing spectacular. It was tasty, but we would try anothere restaurant before rushing back. Convenient location and wide variety."

  • "Excellent post-Carnegie Hall place to eat. Welcoming atmosphere and many delicious late night dining options."

  • "Very good food, good service but the noise level was a bit too loud. Also, the table for 5 was a bit cramped and the waiter kept bumping into my husband's chair. However the food was very good and we enjoyed ourselves."

  • "Four of us ate a pre-theater dinner last Saturday. We chose it because of its proximity to City Center. After reading the recent reviews I was afraid we had made a mistake. I was pleasantly surprised. We all ordered different items from the dinner menu and were very pleased. Both the food and service were excellent despite the fact that the restaurant was full (including some large groups). It is somewhat pricey and a bit noisy but we had no difficulty conversing and the overall experience was excellent."

  • "The food is decent, the wait staff friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere very nice. But it is simply not worth the outrageous prices they charge."

  • "Everything about our visit to the Trattoria was just as we would have wanted--food, service, welcome, table. We asked for special treatment (for special reasons)--they did more than we could have asked."

  • "Across from Carnegie Hall. Very popular restaurant with comprehensive Northern Italian menu. Food very well prepared. Service good even when crowded, which it often is. Best spot for pre Carnegie dining."
    Dined on 3/26/2014
  • "I have eaten here before a Broadway show, and before a concert at Lincoln Center. My only complaint is that I thought I asked for a house Chianti and got a $26 glass of wine without being told or asked about the price. It is noisy and crowded but the food is great."

  • "Found veal tough and not worthy of the price. Were out of standard menu item at 8:30. Common food quality did not justify the prices. Lacked attention to detail. Had to request olive oil on table.Non attentive service. All in all poor dinner , and between 4 of us not one plate was satisfying. Tourist may buy into it but my quests were very unhappy with the quality . 20 years ago it was fine dining. Now its just a tourist trap. Would not take my guests ever again."

  • "we went there for a pre-theatre dinner on a Friday night. it was packed and the service very slow but they compensated by offering champagne so we forgave them... other than that, excellent food and good wines, although expensive. we will most certainly go back, just allow more time or maybe not on Friday night"

  • "Great variety ambiance is vibrant yet very comfortable and noise level very restrained but I come for the food . Excellent wine list in all price ranges The veal parm is by far the best I have ever eaten"

  • "This was our fourth time dining here and it was as good as ever! The atmosphere is boisterous and the maître d' treated us like long lost friends. We enjoy the atmosphere and all four of us had different appetizers that were all thoroughly enjoyed. I hate to go to an Italian restaurant and not get pasta, but was intrigued by the Tuna Steak offering and trying to keep it light since we were running the NYC Half Marathon early next morning. It was a perfectly cooked thick piece, delicious. One of the other diners had that as well and enjoyed it as much. One of us had a pasta Bolognese dish and the other veal piccatta.. We topped it off with a bottle of excellent wine and cannoli and tiramisou. Never Disappointed!"

  • "Exceptional antipasto bar. The seafood is fresh, with endless choices. After dozens of visits, i have never had a bad meal or less than exceptional service. From the Maitre'D to the coat check, the staff here is friendly, courteous, and dotes on every patron as though they are VIPs. The tables are reasonably well separated, and the various rooms also provide a more private feel (a novelty in NYC). The wine list is good, but not great, and the menu prices are on the higher end of the spectrum, but i keep coming back because food and service are just that good. It is also worth noting that Dell'Arte is walking distance to the theater district and Central Park south. I absolutely recommend Trattoria Dell'Arte."

  • "Loud as usual, but very convenient to Carnegie Hall. The food is usually reliably good. However, this time I found a long rolled up piece of saran wrap in my chicken. They apologized and immediately agreed to pay for the chicken course. They also gave me more chianti when my glass ran out without asking me if I wanted to buy another glass. It took too long for them to bring me grated parmigiana cheese when asked though. The fried artichoke appetizer was great as usual."

  • "Dinner at Trattoria Dell'Arte was a wonderful experience, we were treated like Royalty from the time we arrived until we exited the entrance. No complaints, zero... Food was spectacular, service top notch. A larger restaurant that treats you like the name implies, a small neighborhood Itallian Trattoria. We had a great table upstairs overlooking the dining room. Try this restaurant, you won't be disappointed."

  • "If you are looking for a great Italian restaurant to have high quality authentic food this is it. The best thin crust pizza I have tried (and been in Napoles) and the home made mozarella is unbeatable. And the location, just across Central Park and two blocks from Columbus circus. Would definitely come back in my next trip to NYC"

  • "We chose Trattoria as it is walking distance to the theatre district. We were welcomed with genuine warmth and guided to our table. Nice artwork on the wall, but I think I prefer the front room slightly better than the back. The appetiser selection is phenomenal, service very friendly yet efficient enough that you'll make your show. They made us feel as if we were regulars, even if it was only our second time being there. I'd go back in a heart beat."
