A word from Trattoria Dell'Arte
Across from Carnegie Hall, Trattoria Dell’Arte features the largest antipasto bar in New York, a sprawling selection of seafood and vegetable specialties perfect for parties of all sizes. Designed after a Tuscan artist’s studio, the rooms include half-finished paintings, oversized sculptures of fragmented body parts, a gallery of Italian noses, a wine cellar dining room, and candle-filled private rooms.

The menu focuses on northern Italian specialties such as the steak Florentine, double veal chop, seafood specialties of the Mediterranean, and unforgettable desserts.

We went to Trattoria Dell'Arte on a Friday night and there was a $25 minimum per person. It was not difficult to reach or exceed that amount since the prices were high. The food that we ordered was very good however the portions were small for the prices paid. My wife ordered Bronzino and the two sides were extremely small. I had the Pappardelle with Eggplant Parmesan and it was a small serving. The bread delivered to the table was very good. As we subscribe to the New York Pops at Carnegie Hall we were treated to a free glass of Prosecco. For us, the location across the street from Carnegie was perfect.

A great spot for dinner before a Carnegue Hall concert or a Broadway show. From the first greeting as you enter, to the last "thank you" as you leave, the service is impeccable. Our dinners were delicious and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend the Veal Marsala. It was both tender and flavorful. Definitely worth a visit. Be sure to make a reservation, as the large restaurant space folks up quickly!

Our second visit here and there will be a third. We sat in the front by the window, an area which is definitely quieter than the big dining room. The service is excellent and the food is very good. My husband had the Bolognese lasagna and I had the seafood risotto, both of which were very good. We shared an appetizer and a dessert and a bottle of wine. The food came in a timely fashion, we were not hurried, and we both enjoyed the experience. I would recommend this restaurant for others to try.

I was very disapioting with this restaurant. I had the Tordelli bolognese and it was totally tasteless. When i asked the waiter which wine he would recommend he pointed at the most expensive without blinking. Alltough they asked if we would upgrade our table for two to a better place in the restaurant.

I always have a great time at this restaurant. The food is wonderful, the servers are always pleasant, helpful and responsive, and everyone I have ever introduced to Trattoria dell'Arte has thoroughly enjoyed it. Try the veal chop parmigiana (big enough to share), the tuna, the fried artichokes and the antipasto bar. Pasta and pizza too. Oh go try everything! Do make a reservation, especially on Sat. night...it is packed.

We didn't have time for dessert, however, our server brought us chocolates which was a nice thought. Would recommend!

The Trattoria is located directly across 7th Ave from Carnagie Hall and has developed a service offering tailored to that clientele. My son and I were to attend a Satrday concert at 7 pm at the Hall - and had made 5:30 pm reservations at the Trattoria. Any concerns I had about the place being half empty or less were quickly dispelled. At 5:30, the atmosphere was what a diner might anticpate at 8:00 pm at other restaurants. The place was buzzing. The Maitre d' was friendly, gracious, welcoming and smooth; a pro's pro, as was our waiter. These folks know how to care for their guests, are very efficient, and work well under compressed time frames. Oh, and the food ws fabulous! Upscale trattoria fare. Wonderful experience!

Let's start by us being 10 late for our reservation. They didn't even flinch. In fact, we we're literally greeted with HUGS from Brandon who was for lack of a better word, amazing. We were sat right away and we let the staff know we had to leave within the hour to catch a Broadway show. I brought my wife here from CT as a birthday treat. They were completely accomodating and had time for appetizers, dinner and dessert which included a sparkler! Would totally come back. The food was exquisite. From candied carrots to seafood parpadelle. And the drinks!

The service was great, but our food was nothing special. We ordered 4 items from the antipasto bar. 2 were supposed to be cold and 2 hot. All came cold. Our main courses I has veal Marsala, were not very good. The veal was rubbery, and the sauce was boring. My husbands veal piccata was better, but still nothing special. We will probably go back one more time, since it's close to the theaters, and the service was great, beginning with the maitre de. But try pasta or something safer than veal.

We returned to Trattoria Dell'Arte for the umpteenth time for pre-theater dining. It proved reliable again, as it has through the years. The service seemed especially pleasant, from the maitre to the waiter. The artichokes alla Giudea are just ok, but the veal piccata and tagliolini al forno are both tasty and well prepared. The chocolate chip cannoli were the highpoint of the evening. Nice wine selection by the glass. If you are attending the theater or Carnegie Hall (right across the street), this is a good place to eat without being rushed, gouged, fussed over, etc. We would return, yet again.

One of my faves - Trattoria dell'Arte is a classic retro NYC dining experience with an updated spin on classic fare. The food does not disappoint; service is excellent and you can count on a bangin' straight up martini. Room is somewhat noisy and the menu is pricey but the overall ambiance, food and service is well worth it. Easy access to Carnegie Hall and theaters.

My wife and I haved used Trattoria as a "go to" place for ourselves as well as visitors to NYC for the last 7-8 years. We are always so pleased with the food, the service and the nice energy that the place always seems to have at dinner time. Thin crust pizza for the table plus antipasto to start. Both are always favorites. Entrees ordered included tuna, soft shell crabs, red snapper Livornese and cod. All the dishes were very good. Service by our waiter was so friendly and helpful and he remembered my wife and I from previous visits. Finally, we had a great piece of white layer cake that was large enough for the 4 of us to share. The end result of our dinner - our friends now have declared Trattoria to be their new "go to" place for them.
