Corso is the sister restaurant of Rivoli Restaurant, which Chef/Owner Wendy Brucker & GM/Owner Roscoe Skipper opened in 1994. Corso is a casual trattoria featuring the simple, rustic food of Florence, with a full bar & an all-Italian wine list. We serve dinner nightly.

  • "This was my 2nd time there in a month. Both times, I enjoyed 1/2 of the Florentine Steak (it's big- so we shared it). It was just like I remember in Florence in Dec 2007. Wait help was very attentive. We felt a sense of welcome there. There's a 'good feeling' within the place. Food is awesome."

  • "The food was so tasty and the waitstaff were so attentive and helpful that I could not stop eating the hand-made pasta, home-made sausage, and the best polenta I've ever had. And I couldn't stop drinking the delicious and innovative cocktails or sampling the wine. I had to pull myself away in a half drunken stupor caused mostly by the overwhelming feelings of culinary bliss I had just experienced. This place is serious and seriously exceptional."

  • "Everything about our experience was quite enjoyable. Food was delicious, 4 of us split 2 pastas as starters, ordered bistec fiorentina, pollo al burro, sous vide pork loin with plums (special), and grilled whole fish. Hard to decide which was best but the pork and chicken were particularly good. Our waiter Nicholas was outstanding and picked us two memorable wines. Can't wait to go back"

  • "I normally don't expect huge portions at this type of Italian restaurant, but the $16 pasta dish that I ordered was tiny and definitely not worth the $16 price tag. I'm a pretty petite person, but this dish would not even satisfy a child's appetite. It was an appetizer portion at best. I was done in about four bites and left very hungry. Although the shrimp and spaghetti were cooked well, the butter based sauce lacked flavor and ended up being oily. I had to eat a slice of pizza at Cheeseboard down the street. My husband's salmon wasn't cooked through. Usually, I don't mind fish being cooked rare or medium rare, but it depends on the type of fish. They didn't even ask how we wanted it cooked and it didn't specify on the menu."

  • "I had a very enjoyable meal with my family here. It's an intimate place, and if you're like me, it's easy to enjoy the activity of the kitchen. The service was great. Very attentive and well choreographed. Food was more than great, and I really enjoyed the pasta. Minor flaw but easily fixable: I asked for a premium dry martini and got a drink with way too much vermouth. The cured meats here are fantastic and not to be missed. Better than Italy. This is a sister restaurant of Rivoli (I used to be a big fan of Rivoli but somewhere along the line they lost their mojo), so it's great to see Trattoria Corso thriving."

  • "No more foreign films shown at the bar unfortunately. It really added so much to the ambiance that it is really a shame. Also, the formatting change to the menu similarly reduced the quaint nature of the restaurant. Food and service remain outstanding however."

  • "I was in the market for a restaurant that had great food and a cozy, date-worthy ambiance and I couldn't have asked for a better experience! We were seated by the window (always a plus) and had the friendliest, well-timed service so our conversation was never cut short. The food came out quickly and it was absolutely delicious (the eggplant appetizer and the beef/pork tagliatelle were amazing). Large wine menu as well."

  • "getting a bit more expensive but still excellent and they aim to please on the menu, the farro which accompanied the duck leg was said to be seasoned with coriander it tasted like cilantro to me, which i actively dislike they took my plate away, gave me a new duck leg on a bed of braised kale, which was delicious"

The wine we ordered had problems: the first bottle was definitely corked and the second bottle brought still was a bit musty, but drinkable. The staff cared that we were pleased with food and wine."

  • "I always worry about a group larger than 4 at any restaurant, but not so with Corso on a recent dinner for six. We decided to share all of our choices, not just the small plates. The waiter was very accommodating, bring lots of clean small plates to permit the sharing of second and third course offerings. As always, all of the offerings were well-seasoned and interesting. Several of the guests were out of towners, and they loved the unique offerings and atmosphere."

  • "I have been to Corso quite a few times and each visit convinces me that it is among my very favorite places. The service is excellent with a smart knowledgeable staff to help with menu decisions. The food is really delicious. I love tripe and it is one of the few places that serve it. More important it is the bet recipe for tripe ever. If I have an out of town guest Corso will be one of the places I can recommend knowing they will have a wonderful meal. It is one of the lynchpins of the Gourmet Ghetto."

  • "I took a friend here last night-- I've been to Corso several times before, but it was her first time and she couldn't have been more pleased. The chicken liver appetizer was out of this world! And both our entrees (butter chicken and pork roast) were delicious. Somehow we still managed to get a dessert apiece (cherry sundae and affogato with chocolate gelato and bourbon) and finish everything. Just wonderful from start to finish. Forgot to mention the cocktails-- The waiter helped me choose a bourbon for the perfect manhattan, and it was just that."

  • "I booked a reservation for my mother's birthday and mentioned that I wanted it to be special for her. We arrived and the maitre'd'ensured that we were seated at a lovely window table. Our server immediately checked on us and offered us Pelligrino and the menu/wine list. We ordered a carafe of Sangiovese from Tuscany that was incredible, their wine list is truly inspiring. The food was incredible, it was plated beautifully and the flavors were amazing. I recommend the "Crostini di Fegato," and for the more adventurous, "Trippa a Florentina." They brought my mother a birthday panna cotta that tasted like the panna cotta we had in Italy itself. "

  • "My favorite Berkeley restaurant. I don't much like going out anymore because it's too noisy and expensive and often disappointing. I'm a good cook and would rather stay home, enjoy the view and listen to jazz. Corso is the exception: excellent food, reasonable prices and great service. I ask for a quiet table, since I like to talk with my companion, and have always gotten one, though the restaurant is usually full and can be noisy if you are sitting in the middle of it. Feels like my local bistro, as in Roma or Paris."

  • "Excellent Italian style food, better than many other local Italian restaurants I can think of; service was exceptional - impressed that waiter offered to decant wine we brought for the occasion; also appreciate the $15 corkage fee as most restaurants charge more. Our waiter was charming and friendly... My only gripe is that the portions seemed small - granted we all ordered primi (pasta) dishes which in Italy would be a first course, but as a main course they could have been a little larger. Also enjoyed the side dishes."
