I felt overall the food was very good. The salad needs improvement - too much iceberg lettuce. I had the portobello mushroom ravioli with a delicious vodka sauce and spinach. I also liked the warm apple dessert - it was not too sweet, which is what I prefer. The waitress forgot my husband's soup that he ordered, so we have no idea if their soups of the day are good. Our friends also liked their main courses.

A friend from Baltimore in town for a major conference texted when friend left the Loop and only then did I make a reservation, thanks to Open Table. Service was great, food and wine to toast friend's successful presentation was outstanding. Dining room is large enough that tables are placed conveniently for quiet conversation even when place has quite a few diners.

The cocktails and seafood linguini weren't very good. The calimari was so tough it was not edible. Not worth the almost $100 check for 2. But the service was great and the restaurant itself was very nice

This restaurant lives up to all the good things I've heard about it. The food is excellent. I had this amazing shortribs and risotto entree and it was so satisfying I had leftovers to take home for a little lunch the next day. My date had a porkchop with sauteed brussel sprouts that he loved and was totally satisfied with as well. Both entrees came with a tossed green salad. Our server was knowledgeable and helped me pick out a great wine to complement my meal. The meal was topped off with a yummy chocolate bundt cake and vanilla ice cream. The owner even stopped by our table & the other tables to see how we were all doing. I would definitely go back again for dinner or just for drinks at their chic looking bar.

I liked the space and service, but the food left a good deal to be desired. The quality was not the best nor the preparation or presentation. The flavor was fine, but I was left wondering if the cook knew how to make risotto. On the other hand, tighten up these loose ends and I think it could be a good neighborhood gem or perhaps better.

A family visit in Oak Park is not complete without a meal at Trattoria 225. Their ample pizzas are outstanding. In my experience, we have always brought home a few slices because we wanted to save room for dessert, which should not be missed. Some people think that locavore and organic are synonymous with an expensive meal. Not at Trattoria 225. Great food, reasonable prices, attentive service, and rotating selection of craft beers will bring me back the next time I visit family in Oak Park.

It was a Saturdau night and a friend (who I haven't seen in 15 years met for dinner at 7:00) We have both worked in the restaurant business and when they started putting the chairs up around us at 9:30..,we thought it was very rude. It was a Saturday night and we asked what time they were open until and they said 10. I'm sorry, but in the restaurant business, if you're open until 10, you don't close the kitchen or put up the chairs until 10. It's important as a customer to feel welcomed. No wonder why it wasn't busy...we won't be going back. Pizza was ok ...not worth being thrown out.

Trattoria is just a terrific reliable spot for couples, friends, or families. Varied menu, something to please everyone. Truly incredible bread, the grilled Caesar is amazing, and the flatbreads are creative, flavorful, delicious. Lately we have tried more of the entrees - all outstanding. Reasonably priced, nice small wine list for an unpretentious neighborhood gem. Highly recommend.

When confirming the reservation,I was told that groups of more than 20 should not order from the alacarte menu for purposes of efficiency of service. When we arrived at the restaurant,we were seated promptly. We had a party of 23 and ordered promptly. The portion sizes were extremely small and we were not full when we left the restaurant. It appeared as if the portion sizes were adjusted because of the prices on the graduation menu. When the waitress did not hear what I said to her,her response was always WHAT?The settling of bill was a fiasco. We were told that we could either pay in cash or only on 3 credit cards.Lastly, when dessert menus were requested, the waitress brought out 2 for the entire party and stated pass them around.

We had our Mother's Day dinner here and were somewhat disappointed. Food was OK, not great and service was so-so. Ambience is poor because you are seated in a large storefront room at a smallish tables on banquet stack chairs, which got to be uncomfortable after 90 minutes. The food was good, servings size OK, didn't like plain iceberg lettuce salad with vinaigrette. Coffee cream was curdled and it took a while to get someone to replace it. Service was so-so but we tipped our 20% anyway. Good local restaurant but I would not travel the distance again to go there .

I chose Trattoria for a few reasons; it was a local restaurant, when I'd pass by there was always a line out the door (insinuating that it was something special), and last but not least, the great reviews it received. Upon arrival, I was seated immediately. Leslie my waitress was really nice and attentive, and the food was delicious and I didn't feel stuffed after eating all of my food. We were looking for venues for our wedding dinner and the manager was helpful when we called for information. We decided to have dinner there to check out the food and ambiance and I'm so glad we did. My girlfriend's chicken was cooked on the top but completely raw (pink, white, and wiggly) on the bottom. It was almost like the broiled it. The chicken was presliced into 3 parts so the raw chicken was obvious from the start and had the kitchen even looked at the plate they would have known. Poor quality control. The waitress responded with "oh" when we finally got her to the table. The only time she apologized on behalf of the restaurant was when she let us know they took off a drink because the chicken was bad.

This is a wonderful restaurant. Accommodating charming wait staff & owner. They remembered us from our party last summer!! Italian menu included great pizza, pasta dishes and fabulous chicken parmesan--They were happy to serve the pollo parmesan over spinach instead of pasta, and sauce on the side....a fabulous dish! Thank you! My nephews loved the chicken piccata and the pizza. We had a table for 10, and remarkably we could hear all conversation...Lovely place for dinner conversation..not too loud. I'd go there for a dinner for 2 or 10! Beautiful decor, exposed brick walls, Warm & friendly, Also great wine. Our family loved it. A dinner gathering our family will remember.

A trip to visit family in Oak Park would not be complete without dinner at Trattoria 225. The food has always been outstanding, in particular the pizzas. The service is attentive, without being overbearing. I like the variety of micro-brewed beers that are on tap. On the most recent visit, Carissa patiently answered questions my father had regarding the beers as he was having trouble deciding. I am looking forward to returning the next time I am in Oak Park.

Wait staff-Waitress was terrible. She took orders-7 of us- in a rushed manner, after repeating initial orders when given, came back and asked what was ordered. She began serving us the wrong entrees. .She reached over 3 diners to serve plates to others, Several members tried to tell her it was a birthday celebration and she never acknowledged. She had to be reminded about cocktail orders. We had to call her to the table and she did not come around to inquire how things were. Food- 3 diners had short ribs and they were not good.. 2 had pasta which was ok, 2 had steak which they reported as good. Cocktails and wine-good. Bread--great, Salad-ok-very vinegary.-needed oil for balance, desserts-ok. Location- great for us locals.

My husband and I have dined at Trattoria 225 a couple of times now. Food and service are usually pretty. However, this time we had the house salad. Wow. It had the blandest, worst vinaigrette on it we'd ever tasted. For that reason, I barely ate mine. Definitely need to work on that. Their dessert was decent. We had the (triple) creme brulee. We've had better creme brulee, that's for sure; but for the price, the amount they gave us alone was a bargain. We'd definitely would go back, as overall the food and pricing is good and reasonable.

Trattoria 225 would be a fine restaurant in a small Midwestern city, but for a foodie-centric place like Oak Park, it disappoints. Pizza was forgettable. Antipasto plate was tired. Service was attentive, but not sophisticated enough to know the right times to check on us. We felt rushed even though only 3 other tables were occupied.
