Diner Reviews
  • "We have been to many Greek restaurants in South Florida but this is the best thus far. The food was excellent and along with the service."

  • "TRATA is always a great place to drop into for Happy hour, and fantastic grilled fish. Web love this place. Give it a try. All food excellent. Just request easy on the salt, if you are not a big fan of salt."

  • "My husband and I enjoyed a nice meal at Trata Greek Taverna during a recent trip in Fort Lauderdale. We had lamb chops and sea bass. The latter was the best I ever had in years!! We used a groupon coupon and everything worked fine."

  • "We were on vacation & used a Groupon to go here.Yes- we checked the fine print before going. It did NOT mention the payment limitations when you use a Groupon. It was 4 of us that went & the couple we went with wanted to pay separately.Apparently, you can only use 1 payment method. At least we had enough cash on us so the other group could use a credit card! This was in no way explained before we went,or we would've been prepared. However, the food was good & the service was pretty good.If you need or want to leave in a hurry,it won't happen as it takes awhile to get the check. It was NOT a large group of us that went but the tip was automatically added to the bill. They said it was part of the Groupon yet the fine print didn't say this either."

  • "Everything was good, except the price, it seems to me a little high. 3 shots of Greece national vodka $30 like a bottle of vine."

  • "In our experience, this was the best-tasting Greek food we've had this side of the Adriatic. After a cheese-olive appetizer, I enjoyed a plate of LOUKANIKO MAKARONI (yes, pasta), and my seafood-fussy wife relished her serving of SHRIMP SAGANAKI, saying it was "delicious". Greek yogurt with honey and almonds capped off a perfect meal. I will return for the lamb chops."

  • "Nothing special about this place. It is probably authentic as I have eaten in Athens itself, and it's pretty close (Greek food is not the top of the line in cuisines anyway). So it is not bad it's OK but not for the price. I've ordered a rack of lamb which is my favorite in a Greek restaurant. What I got was meager, poorly-looking 4 pieces with simple rice and not so appealing side of overly cooked vegetables which had no taste at all.. I'd refrain from recommending so I won't be on the hook to provide explanations later..."

  • "We had a great lunch at at Trata. The wraps were excellent! Very fresh mottoes and the baklava was the best I have ever had!!! This place is a must."

  • "My boyfriend and I received a gift card to this restaurant and were pleasantly surprised by how amazing the food was. We ordered the calamari for an appetizer and then the signature platter for two. It was the perfect amount of food and so tasty. For dessert we ordered baklava and it surpassed our expectations. The negative I can say is about when I called the restaurant. The phone kept going voicemail. I was concerned that the restaurant might have shut down since no one was answering the phones and their website no longer existed. When I mentioned it to the host, he seemed confused and just said he wasn't sure. If I was patron trying to book a reservation they would have lost my business. Luckily, I made the reservation online."

  • "Great Menu of classic Greek food. Prepared and served with the pride of a family service oriented operation! Servers and clearers smile, the food is consistently fresh and hot no matter how busy the crowd. Excellent tables outside for people watching on Fort Lauderdale's downtown "Boulevard to the Beach"."

  • "Las Olas is always over priced for what you get. The calamari was tasteless and limp. Otherwise the food and service was good."

  • "Travelled over an hour to reach this treat. Well worth the drive. Aphrodite Chicken was a wonderful, robust melange of flavors and textures. One member of our party, who is a farmer, decided to try the lamb and reported it was the best he's had in 20-years. Another discerning diner opted for the Spanikota (sic) Seafood and was pleased with both quantity and quality. Portions and prices were well within reason; sidedishes were included and quite delightful (tasty potatoes and rice, gorgeous vegetables). We'll drive again to share this experience with others. Recommended without hesitation."

  • "We ate at Trata on a Saturday night, when they were very busy and a bit understaffed. The food was good, well prepared, the menu was typical and the prices were reasonable. The reason to eat here is the location, before or after dinner you can stroll along Las Olas. The welcome station was very helpful giving parking advice, that alone is worth a return visit, but this time on a weekday."

  • "We arrived early to have a Happy Hour drink (separate bill). We were asked if we were going to use any coupons at dinner. I said yes and then was advised we could not have the half price drinks and use the coupon also. Martinis arrived in very small glasses at 12$ each. We found this to be a "wrong move" on the part of the restaurant but decided to go ahead and have dinner. We asked for a corner table overlooking the street but were advised that one was reserved. The restaurant wasn't even half full. . Service arrived quickly and was excellent. The food was wonderful even though the mussels in the appetizer were hard to open. We would make different arrangements for drinks and appetizers. The OVERALL EXPERIENCE is very important."

  • "I was pleasantly surprised by the promptness of the service as our meals were received quickly after placing our orders. The food was excellent as well as the wine and martini menu! I got the table in the back closest to audio equipment, which was perfect. I'd definitly recommend this restaurant and will be going back again in the near future."

  • "My husband and I had a delicious relaxing dinner here. The atmosphere is lovely, the staff is professional and friendly and the food is delicious and authentic. There is outdoor seating available a nice bar and covered city parking behind the building. A dining jewel amongst some CZ on Las Olas Blvd."

  • "My boyfriend and I eat here about once a month and are never disappointed. The serving staff is very friendly and attentive (I go through at least 7 glasses of water with dinner and they were there to fill it each time). The bread and hummus to start is so good. We typically get the Greek salad, Chicken Kabob and mussels and love it every time. Its a small restaurant with a cute atmosphere and great food."

  • "My friend had the Greek Paella which at more than $30 was dissapointingly tasteless. I had the baked smoked cheese which was almost inedible since it was so salty. The decor is more French then Greek apart from the standard issue photo of whitewashed houses next to the bright blue Mediterranean. We won't be going there again."

  • "Food, service and ambiance was great for a night out. Very reasonable prices as well"

  • "The food at Trata was excellent and the service was attentive. However, the evening was ruined when an 18% gratuity was added to our bill and there was no mention of this on the menu or by the server when the bill was provided. We were only a party of 3. This is atypical practice and should have been pointed out in some fashion. I suspect this is one way to get extra gratuities from unsuspecting patrons who do not read the bill in detail. This was very disappointing."

  • "A New Years eve early dinner with friends turned sour. Noise level is ear piercing. Management rude and uncooperative. Food just adequate. A sad way to end the old year."

  • "Really enjoyed traditional Greek dishes. Also some less traditional options on the menu. Excellent shrimp and feta appetizer, delicious Greek salad and great lamb chops. Will return for some of the other Greek treats on the menu."

  • "Wonderful dining spot. The food was extraordinary: every bite was a burst of flavors, and the wine complemented it very well. Service (Nicholas) was expert and attentive, without being "in our face". I had the grilled calamari ( melt in your mouth) and my husband had the giant Greek Lyma beans for appetizers: delicious, like my grandma used to cook them. For entrees I had the special grilled whole fish (Seabass) and my husband had the moussaka. We shared a dessert that was just as fabulous. The only problem was the discovery of an 18% tip added to our bill, although it was just the two of us, and no warning at the beginning of the meal. We were glad we looked, since the overall price was substantial, and we could have easily missed it."

  • "We had been there twice before. The first time was great food and great service, but our second experience was the complete opposite. We are glad we went back. The menu is better and service was great. We had more than enough food and left wanting to go back...."

  • "Every dish was delicious. The waiter was very courteous, and funny. Cold Pikilia was an assortment of Greek spreads, and each had it's own unique flavors. We also had the grouper, lamb chops, Mikrolimano Pasta, and Branzino fish. We ended up sharing plates, because every one wanted to try each option ordered. Absolutely perfect, and the evening breeze made the night even better. We went out for a birthday dinner with the family. I am excited about finding this restaurant. Definate Go To!"

  • "This is an authentic Greek restaurant. It has a warm family atmosphere and is a few blocks from the more chic restaurants on Las Olas Blvd. We were greeted by the owner and seated outside. We had a wonderful dinner and will definitely go back when we're in town."

  • "Tried this restaurant because we received a dining certificate What a pleasant surprise! Sat out on the covered patio. Would not sit outside again- cars whizzing by were noisy. Waiter took our drink order and brought a little basket with hummus and bread... Nice! Ordered the platter. Lamb chops were buttery tender and scallops and shrimp had a tasty sauce with enough rice to enjoy and two small slices of lemon potatoes accompanied by two wedges of lemon which we squeezed dry to add even more deliciousness. All in all a good dining experience. Criticism- platter is pretty pricey for the portion size. It's meant for two @ $60 for 4 little chops, 4 shrimp and 4 scallops. We will go again and try something new. Can't wait!"

  • "Nice little place in the Las Olas hot spot with a few other restaurants next to it. Food was good and authentic Greek, but a bit pricey for the amount served. I had scallops, friend had shrimp, both of us had had better at a much lower price. Had two appetizers, calamari and saganaki. It's a good thing we got two, since they were small for two people. Place was packed on a Saturday night. and everyone there seemed to be enjoying themselves."

  • "We chose Trata, because a friend of ours needs to eat gluten free foods. Trata's menu has many items to choose from that are gluten free, (all though it is not listed). Just ask your waiter and he will guide you to the gluten free items if you are not sure. Our waiter was so gracious and very professional. This dining experience was top notch. The food was superb and the wine menu was extensive. I recommend the chicken kabobs and the greek salad. I will go there again."

  • "This was our first time here and we really enjoyed it. Right on Las Olas, the food was outstanding and the staff made us feel right at home. The atmosphere was very nice outside on the patio. We will definitely be back."

  • "We had a very nice experience. The lamb kabob was perfectly cooked and had a nice mix of lamb and vegetables. The big hit was actually the potato. The hint of lemon really made it pop. We also tried the gyro which was also outstanding. The service could have been a little more attentive as our water glasses were empty for a bit, but I did like the leisurely pace. It was definitely worth the trip to Las Olas."
