A word from Trademark Drink + Eat
Trademark is the neighborhood bar for a remarkable neighborhood. With a nod to our close friends at the U.S. Patent and Trade Office, we take our inspiration from the innovators whose once daring ideas set the standard.

Then knowing exactly what the standard is, Trademark enjoys nothing better than tweaking it. Someone else had the brilliant idea to combine pork with beans, macaroni with cheese and gin with vermouth. We simply came up with a way to make you think you’re tasting them for the first time.

The mixologists behind our bar program understand that some drinks are made to forget a hard day, others to foster inspiration, and still others to toast old friends and instant acquaintances. We also noticed that good things happen when the atmosphere is properly stimulating. You’ll find the mood at Trademark as comfortable as it is inventive.

  • "I dined for lunch during the week with friends. I ordered the cheesesteak. The bread was fine, but the chopped steak paled in comparison to the portions of my friends' burger. My side of coleslaw tasted like cabbage (and broccoli?) blanched in salt water, as it lacked any creaminess or vinegary bite. My friends were content with their burgers, though. Service was attentive."

  • "i have never submitted a review and frequently dine out. This place was a terrible experience. the noise level and acoustics were NOT acceptable, and quite frankly it was much more like a bar than a restaurant. now i know why so many were dining alone...you cannot have a conversation at the table with the NOISE level and acoustics. the waiter apologized, but that was insufficient. i would NEVER return and would NEVER recommend this place for dining. it is a bar. the placement of the tables in the bar is poor design, and quite frankly someone in management should apologize to me for the misleading advertising, and the incredibly poor experience. we could NOT enjoy the food because of the ridiculously and unacceptably LOUD noise level"

  • "Trademark Drink & Eat feels more like a restaurant anchoring a suburban town center than a bar at a Westin hotel just outside of Old Town Alexandria. The semi-private dining area is separated by shelves crammed with books, birds’ nests, trophies and bell jars. The cocktails crafted by Christopher Bassett are excellent. The drink menu is excellent with award winning pub good to compliment them. They have great specials and it's a great atmosphere. It's a great place to dine for breakfast/brunch with a great menu including crab hash and mimosas. Service staff are polite and friendly. Would definitely recommend this place to friends and family. "

  • "My boyfriend and I found this hidden gem when we did a "stay-cation" at the Westin a couple years back and we have gone back plenty of times since because the food is amazing. If you are in the Arlington/Alexandria are you should definitely try it out."

  • "Trademark Drink+Eat proved to be a great surprise. While the menu is somewhat limited at this very handsome restaurant, there are some unique items and everyone raved about their choices. Service was incredible -- swift, friendly and always on the lookout for anythign we might need. The separated dining area from the main room opposite the bar is quiet and perfect for conversation over dinner. Best of all, at no time did you ever feel you were in a 'hotel restaurant' as it sits in a corner of the Westin."

  • "The restaurant had a V Day three course special. Right away we ordered two of their specialty cocktails which arrived after we ordered our food and after we received our appetizers. Drinks were terrible -- way too strong. I had the lobster ravioli which had crunchy bits in the lobster. A tasteless filet mignon came next with lobster mashed potatoes which after my appetizer,I wasn't too eager to taste. Between dinner and dessert we noticed we had breaf plates, but hadn't had any bread. We asked and along with our dessert we received hot rolls -- which we assume we were supposed to be served earlier in the meal. Dessert wasn't anything special -- two chocolate strawberries, a tablespoon of a chocolate pate, two small fried donut holes."

By far this is my favorite place to dine in all of Alexandria and the surrounding area…Yes I am including downtown DC as well.   • "We were visiting Alexandria for a conference and wanted to try a place near by for dinner with our group. It is always a risk to take a group to a place you have never tried or been too based on a website. Well, we were pleasantly surprised when we had an area all to ourselves. Loved the atmosphere. The server was amazing. We arrived at different times and she kept us all well hydrated and was very kind. She made sure the timing was perfect throughout the evening. The food was amazing. I highly recommend the pretzel bites and the buffalo chicken pizza. Delicious. The main dishes were all wonderful. I would definitely visit this lovely establishment again, with a group or on my own!"

  • "We recently hosted 22 people for brunch in a section of the restaurant. The managers/chef were accommodating during the entire planning process. On the day of the event, the service and staff were friendly, professional, and moved through the crowd seamlessly - we did not have to worry about a thing! The Trademark staff help us make it a very memorable event and we are very grateful - thank you!!l The guests complimented the service, location, and the food!!"

  • "This restaurant is much improved from what it used to be. Food is better as is service, more importantly, the atmosphere. The changing colored lights in the old restaurant were atrocious, happy to see you got rid of those. The prices are still a little high, but considering it's a hotel restaurant, I get it. However, not opening the bar until 10am is silly for those who want to enjoy a simple mimosa or bloody mary with breakfast; servers are more than capable of making these drinks, there's no need to call the bartender in early if that's the problem (or have your manager do it). And a gastro-pub you are not but the food is still quite yummy. Breakfast is a bit predictable but your other meal offerings are semi-unique."

  • "Service was slow and a bit inattentive, especially given the low numbers in the restaurant. Didn't seem like the two bartenders could keep up with drink orders. Took nearly 20 minutes on round one and had to seek out the waitress for round two. Overall, food was very good. Would recommend sticking with things like the macaroni and cheese (delicious) or the sandwiches - entrees are fine, but price point is a bit steep given the gap between them and the $12 mac and cheese. Complimentary dessert for the folks celebrating a birthday at our table was a very nice touch and much appreciated. Overall, not bad - just need a little help speeding things up."

  • "My wife and I have eaten here several times. We like it and will come back. However, our Restaurant Week meal was only OK. The salad with watermelon in it was nice, as was my steak dish. The sausage in it was a nice touch. However, my wife's wahoo fish was badly overcooked. The restaurant did take 20% off our food bill because of this, without fuss. The dessert was really skimpy however--just a half a peach with a tiny scoop of ice cream in it. I know restaurants run out of stuff, but it would have been nice if they'd let us pick a dessert from the regular menu."

  • "At 7:30 on a summer Thursday night the bar area was at about 70% capacity. The noise level there was quite high and spilled in to a very nice library-like dining area to the left of the bar. We were seated at table 8 about as far away from the din as one can get. During the cocktail portion of the evening, having waited about 20 minutes for a glass of ice cubes, we signaled a waitperson who was not ours to ask for the ice. Wile asking her another question, midsentence she began walking away and I asked her to come back so that I could finish my request. I asked her to include some cocktail napkins with the request for the ice and she walked. When she returned with the ice and the napkins,"

  • "My husband works for the USPTO and we've always noticed this little restaurant attached to the Westin Hotel. Given the reputation that comes with every hotel restaurant, i.e., not very good food, we were a little hesitant, but the decor and the restaurant's outside aesthetics were pleasing enough. We finally came here on a whim when our intended dinner spot was too indebted in Fourth of July traffic. High ceilings. Industrial looking. Very airy. Quiet. We ordered the mini pretzel burger, pot of mussels, seafood pot pie, bread pudding, and Kahlua coffee. Each were greatly flavorful and completely surprising! Everything was incredibly gourmet. Greatly underestimated restaurant. Total hidden gem. Try it, you'll be surprised!"

  • "The seafood pot pie was well done and tasty, the only sad part was waiting patiently after the delectable crust was broken for the food to cool enough to eat. The beer can chicken was delicious and generously porportioned, greens were kale, perfectly done. The salmon was done just so and the candied bacon nuggets were just the right burst of flavor. The seafood mac-n-cheese was dotted with big morsels of lump crab and lobster, for my taste, could have benefited from a punch of sharper cheese, but had the right creaminess. The calamari appetizer came with a kalamata aioli, reminiscent of tapenade, nice, but salty, perhaps a second dipping sauce might provide a counter balance. Service was sincere, but with some language problems."

  • "We were excited to try a new brunch location and loved that we could go as early as 9:30. Shame on me for not doing better research. Trademark is connected to a hotel and serves a buffet. We wanted to order from the menu which took over 30 minutes (for eggs over medium and an omlet). My husband's eggs were not medium (very runny whites). I asked if he wanted to return them, and he said, "No, we are simply not coming back here" - ouch."

  • "My mom and I enjoyed the 2013 Mother's Day brunch. It had a nice variety of savory and sweet breakfast items, omelette bar, prime rib, and turkey. It was not particularly innovative cuisine. The servers were professional and pleasant. Our experience was adequate for the day, but we celebrated at other brunch spots in previous years and enjoyed it more in those other years. Sorry, Trademark. I would still recommend it, but I would recommend other options more."

  • "We had a nice table close to a window and near the brunch room. Food presentation made you want to try everything! The carved ham was well seasoned and tasty! The roast beef was tender. I also enjoyed the risotto and quiche along with the omelet station. The visibility of the chefs/kitchen staff ensured the area was kept clean, replenished when necessary and responded immediately to on-the-spot customer suggestions/requests. Although it was a self-serve brunch, the wait staff was almost non-existent for service to include clearing the table and serving beverages. I wanted to try a special brunch cocktail but my server could not get past the coffee and juice. Providing each mother with a special cupcake was a nice touch instead of flowers."

  • "My fiance and I had been wanting to try this restaurant for some time as we drove past it almost daily and it is right around the corner from our home. We finally went and weren't disappointed. It's located in the lobby of the local Westin, so it obviously is made with business travelers in mind. The food was more expensive than some place you would go regularly, but the food was quite good. $26 for a moderate sized salmon filet with mashed potatoes and asparagus is more than I would want to pay regularly. The menu is sparse, but what they did, from what I could tell, was quite good. The bar is expansive with many wine and beer selections. The service was outstanding."

A little noisy in the main area, but our table was slightly out of the way so we had no problems chatting. Overall, a surprisingly pleasant experience."
