A word from Trabocco
Trabocco brings something new and exciting to Alameda. Chef-owner, Giuseppe Naccarelli presents a seasonally inspired menu of classic Italian dishes with a modern twist, influenced by the cuisine of his native region of Abruzzo.
A Trabocco is a unique fishing pier found along the Adriatic coast of Abruzzo. Architect and Designer Lev Weisbach of Weisbach Architecture|Design was inspired by the beautiful Trabocchi of Abruzzo when he created his spectacular design. With its reclaimed wood ceilings, dramatic copper encased fireplace, and modern bar Trabocco is warm and welcoming yet strikingly dramatic and modern.

The classic rustic Italian food is so very well prepared by a chef from Italy. The chef imports wines from Italy that anywhere else would cost you another $10 a bottle. We felt well cared for, a wonderful restaurant all in all.

We loved the burrata with prosciutto. We loved the ravioli. Our 2 fish specials for entrees sucked! Good service though slow. Missed a dish we had ordered. Way too loud. This place is very popular. They will not miss us as customers.

Party of nine on the patio for dinner. Excellent starters: octopus, carpaccio, burrata, beet salads. Would like to see them tone down the vinaigrettes, however: a little strong and a bit too much used. Baccala (salt cod) starter is one of our favs. Special of rotisserie duck was very good; the pork risotto with beet puree was AMAZING. Spaghetti with seafood was excellent also. The pumpkin creme brulee and tiramisu won everyone's hearts; our guest of honor was floored by the tiramisu, saying she doesn't really like coffee so had never cared much for the dessert, but Trabocco's version is now her gold standard! Great service as usual from Michele, much appreciated.

The food was delicious, very good italian menu. Both the Calamari and Carpaccio as first courses were wonderful, also the Agnolotti di Zucca very delicious and plenty of it, the Ravioli con coda also very good. Great cosmopolitan cocktail. We will definitely go back.

Only was able to understand 2 of the 4 specials, perhaps if I spoke Italian would have heard them all. We asked if we could order drinks but he said - no, wanted to tell us the specials first. The waiter seemed in a hurry, tried to get another drink after he took our order but he zipped off. Had to go to the bar to get another drink. Interesting food, had cocoa pasta with rabbit ragu - pretty good, my wife's butternut squash was cold. Over rated and over priced. Doubt if we will return.

We always enjoy an evening at Trabocco's. It starts with a warm greeting from the hostess (usually the chef's wife) and continues with the capable wait staff. We have tried most items on the menu and all deserve top praise. This time I had the pork chop and it had to have been the best pork chop I have ever had. My husband had the Spaghetti del Trabocco which he has gotten before and every time he claims it is the best spahetti dish in the Bay Area. During the meal, Chef Giuseppe, always stops by to see how you are enjoying his meal and it is one of the nice touches that I believe all diners look forward to. He truly appreciates you choosing his restaurant as your destinction. You can't go wrong going to lunch/dinner/brunch at Trabocco's.

I've been to Trabacco for lunch with the "girls" three times now. Each time has been a great experience. The service from entering the restaurant, at the table and when leaving was very good and the food was excellent. We were a group of five ladies over 60--to be honest, over 70. Four had the seafood saute over spinach, the fifth had the chicken salad. All were excellent. Sitting outside in the protected patio was the perfect spot. We would definitely go there again--soon, I hope

Came here with my son and my Mom celebrating her birthday; neither one of them had ever been before but my husband and I are regulars. Neither one of them go out to eat very often, and when they do it's usually fast food or buffet so this was a real treat! Everything was great, of course - the calamari, burrata, steak, salmon special, and dessert. The tiramisu is probably one of the best we've ever had, the chocolate torta is the "must order" dessert, and their gelato is delicious! My Mom enjoyed her birthday dinner here and even posted about it to her Facebook page - she felt very spoiled being able to go to this "fancy" restuarant.

A sophisticated restaurant with an amazing menu but all the family warmth of Central Italy. Chef Giuseppi provides a smile and a comforting welcome, making each and every customer feel special. We witnessed him singing a heartfelt happy birthday to a table celebrating a lovely woman's 95th birthday and he honored our wedding anniversary with a personal story. We loved the agnoletti and the rabbit dishes. Keep it coming! Alameda needs this!

OK I had to look up the definition of "Trabocco" : Italian for "Overflow" maybe in the sense of a crowd or abundance. Nice decor, very upscale. Patio and indoor seating. Expensive for us, but it was an Anniversary Dinner. Really loved those butternut squash ravioli- more of a chef's deconstructionist take on "ravioli" but melt-in-your-mouth delicious; The sage butter sauce is divine in that conversation. My risotto was good, Lots of saffron, very aromatic. A tiny bit salty. Everything was well timed and nicely plated. We had the tiramisu. My Husband sang its praises , I thought it yummy but I like a tad more Marscapone and this was a little more lady-fingeresque. Careful not to breathe in that powdered Cocoa on top!

everything was delicious and fresh, and Italian, including the kitchen and wait staff. The quinoa chick pea salad was the least flavorful antipasta, but the super tender lamb skewers and the very green caprese made up for it. Oxtail Ravioli, eggplant penne, and the butternut squash agnolotti melted in our mouths and even the pasta without the filling was pretty amazing. Shared a very rich piece of chocolate cake at the end, which was perfect. The only snag in the whole meal was that in my ravioli, I bit down on a chunk of very hard cartilage. But the chef came out and apologize, explaining that this is the unfortunate effect of being as fresh as can be.

There really is something for everyone here: House made pastas, rotating rotisserie and seafood selections, and wood fired pizzas. Our table of three ordered the lamb skewers (small, but flavorful), burrata caprese (intensely creamy cheese with super sweet tomato. This was probably my favorite thing of the night), the Mezzo e Mezzo pizza/calzone combo, Fettuccine Bolognese (which my dining partner said was the best she ever had), and the chitarrine al Cacao (Pasta with rabbit ragu). The ragu was good, but I wanted it to be a little more special than it was). We left feeling full, but not overly so as with some Italian restaurants. This was my second time here and would come again.

Still pleasing, but not quite as good as some of the meals we've had here. Beet salad is good altho we wish they'd drop the ricotta salada, which never has any flavor to add. The Spaghetti del Trabocco had less sauce this time which disappointed spouse, who loves their marinara. The Insalata Bistecchina, sliced wood-grilled steak, needs a little rethinking. Couscous should be separate from salad; it makes a terrible salad dressing with little grains glued all over the lettuce! But loved the currants and dollops of avocado; Parmesan shavings were just right. Desserts were very good but panna cotta a bit too sweet this time. We'll consider this a temporary dip; we enjoy Trabocco and will continue to return.

It's good. The place is nice, the food is good, but mostly it's lost in the service. Meal pacing is critical, and at these prices, it misses the mark. A nice place, let down by service. The break between salad & main course was 40+ minutes, both times we went. That is too long. I had to ask for a refill on my iced tea and only got one, in AN HOUR! When the end of our meal came, the waiter did not offer dessert menus- it was more like, "are you ready to leave?" And if you serve a fish special as a whole fish- better mention that. Been there twice- and again, it is nice and the food is good but the service needs work.

Delicious meal with cousins who are foodwinos. Excellent service, ambience and food. We shared a number of dishes, including the rotisserie-roasted duck, oxtail ravioli, lamb shanks, cod, butternut squash ravioli and two salads. Not a speck left. Delicious house made breads, too. Then we shared perfectly minimalist tiramisu, pumpkin creme brûlée and spumoni gelato for dessert. Very reasonably priced for the quantity and quality of the food, and especially, such warm, personal service. No-one asked if we were finished or "still workin' on that, guys?"

We first stopped for lunch on a Saturday and loved the food, so we returned the next one for dinner. Again the food was excellent. However, we had a waiter in the evening who took a seeming dislike to us and made comments about "This is America". Now we are all native English speakers but with accents. The waiter did put a damper on the evening. We will go back and hope for better luck with the server. Some tablecloths would hep with the noise. Front staff are very pleasant.

Trabocco was a little challenging to find, but we are so glad we did! It was part of our wedding anniversary celebration, and what a great choice. The food, from the tender octopus/potato appetizer to the wine to the outstanding fish entrée (Alaskan cod) that was prepared nicely. We opted to share the entrée with no hassle. They brought each of us a plate with half portions. The chef actually came out and greeted each guest with an obvious Italian flare! If in Alameda again, we would certainly return to Trabocco.

Trabocco met all our expectations except for the noise level. It was beyond energetic and difficult to caring a conversation. Everything else was good. We were celebrating a special occasion and decided to "go local" rather than to one of San Francisco's more historic/traditional spots. It just didn't work out this time. I thought it was a bit pricey for a restaurant desiring to become a neighborhood gem. The open kitchen and industrial decor just didn't work for us -- a sign of changing times.
