A word from Trabocco
Trabocco brings something new and exciting to Alameda. Chef-owner, Giuseppe Naccarelli presents a seasonally inspired menu of classic Italian dishes with a modern twist, influenced by the cuisine of his native region of Abruzzo.
A Trabocco is a unique fishing pier found along the Adriatic coast of Abruzzo. Architect and Designer Lev Weisbach of Weisbach Architecture|Design was inspired by the beautiful Trabocchi of Abruzzo when he created his spectacular design. With its reclaimed wood ceilings, dramatic copper encased fireplace, and modern bar Trabocco is warm and welcoming yet strikingly dramatic and modern.

  • "I've been to Trabocco several times and each time it's been perfect! This was the first time I ate outside and I was joined by two friends who ate there for the first time. It was a magical experience for all of us! Our waiter - Michele - was superb! He had a wonderful sense of humor and we couldn't have received better service. Our food was also excellent - from the salmon panini (with to-die-for french fries) to the butternut squash ravioli to the gluten free seafood pasta. Of course we had to share the flourless chocolate cake - fabulous! It's my last week living in Alameda and I have to say that Trabocco will be the number one restaurant I will miss in the area. I'll be back to visit though!"

  • "After my wife's great lunch a few weeks ago, and friends' positive reports about recent dining @ Trabocco, we were very disappointed on a variety of issues: (1) we waited 30 minutes for our table; (2) the pizza/calzone was cold in the middle; (3) the cappuccino was cold; (4) the espresso was bitter; (5) the chef greeted many other patrons but not our table; (6) our server was inattentive most of the 2+ hour ordeal."

  • "When I a not having a quiet meal there with my husband and friends, I like to sit at the counter with a gal friend or two and flirt with the owner/chef, Giuseppe, and the wait staff while we watch the cooks do their magic. Christina, Giuseppe's wife, runs the front of the house with grace and style. Don't miss the pizza named after her: wild mushrooms, mozzarella on a perfect crust, topped with arugula, prosciutto, shaved Reggiano and a drizzle of truffle oil. Seafood is wonderful, as are the pastas and rotisserie items."

  • "Steak pork chops and pasta are all delicious. Even the spinach is tasty. Duck one time was a little chewy but tasted great. Pear salad is the only thing I would call ok. Chocolate torte very dense and chocolaty. Usually the owner comes around to say hi. He did not last visit. Missed that."

  • "Great food and ambience, but I was annoyed that I had to tell my waiter at the end to bring my husband's complimentary birthday tiramisu. It seems like this was not communicated to the waiter ahead of time, which was even more annoying since I had called that day to remind them this was a birthday dinner for my husband. It was an awkward exchange between me and the waiter. Overall, the dinner was excellent though."

  • "We had heard very good things about this restaurant and were not disappointed in our first visit. Our waitress was friendly and service was prompt. The caprese appetizer was absolutely wonderful - the mozzarella melted in my mouth. The serving is generous so it can definitely be shared. My tablemates had the pasta Bolognese, which I tried. Not as good as my homemade but good nonetheless. :) I had the day's fish special which was very good. The menu selection is broad, and we'll definitely be back again to try other things on the menu."

  • "We were surprised and delighted to find this genuine Italian restaurant, NOT a chain, in an out of the way spot in Alameda. The physical plant is very attractive and well thought out, the service very friendly and attentive without being unctious, the menu offerings were creative, and the food was well prepared. The chef came out to chat with us when we were finished to inquire about our meal, which I thought was a good sign of their high standards and desire to provide the best dining experience they can. Well done all around. I will gladly return."

We shared a caprese salad with a creamy mozzarella. The desserts were traditional and tasty. Our waitperson was attentive and knowledgeable about the food served. I can hardly wait to go back!"

This most recent visit was for my mother's birthday and she really enjoyed herself. The Chef came from the kitchen and visited each table. They even gave Mom a complimentary dessert with a candle on it for her birthday. Already looking forward to going back and trying something new from their incredible menu. Would highly recommend this place for a special occasion or just a nice dinner. Thank you Trabocco!"

My wife had the mezzo e mezzo and was very happy, the crust was great My daughter had the angulotti, she loved it. My wife's Dad had the salmon, he said it was delicious. It was a great dinner!"

We have brought out of town friends there as our "go to" restaurant. The Owner/Chef is very friendly and moves from table to table both welcoming and thanking diners.   • "Trabocco has an authentic, delicious menu for both lunch and dinner. The ingredients are fresh, well-seasoned, and perfectly prepared. I tried the Abruzzo wine (the region where the chef/owner originates) and really enjoyed it. They also have a variety of specialty drinks. Portions are generous and plated nicely. It can get noisy, but that is because it is always a packed house! You can still carry on a conversation at your table without having to speak loudly. Everytime we go we like to try something new, and so far, we have yet to be disappointed."

Two slight negatives: I ordered the rabbit and although the flavor was very good, the meat was dry and as a result somewhat difficult to cut; we ordered the flourless chocolate cake and again the flavor was wonderful, but my previous experience of this dessert is that the consistency is usually a heavier cake-like consistency. Trabocco's was more like a mouse/pudding."

  • "My wife and I went on Father's day for dinner and had a very, very good meal. We have been to Tabocco recently and the overall experience was fine. However, to be fair, the service was a bit slow. Our server was a delight and made up a fair amount for the slightly slow delivery. The food was excellent, well presented and fulfilling. Will be back again for sure, hoping for a little faster service but expecting a good meal as in the past. This spot is a welcome addition to Alameda's group of great places to eat."
