A word from Trabocco
Trabocco brings something new and exciting to Alameda. Chef-owner, Giuseppe Naccarelli presents a seasonally inspired menu of classic Italian dishes with a modern twist, influenced by the cuisine of his native region of Abruzzo.
A Trabocco is a unique fishing pier found along the Adriatic coast of Abruzzo. Architect and Designer Lev Weisbach of Weisbach Architecture|Design was inspired by the beautiful Trabocchi of Abruzzo when he created his spectacular design. With its reclaimed wood ceilings, dramatic copper encased fireplace, and modern bar Trabocco is warm and welcoming yet strikingly dramatic and modern.

everything was delicious and fresh, and Italian, including the kitchen and wait staff. The quinoa chick pea salad was the least flavorful antipasta, but the super tender lamb skewers and the very green caprese made up for it. Oxtail Ravioli, eggplant penne, and the butternut squash agnolotti melted in our mouths and even the pasta without the filling was pretty amazing. Shared a very rich piece of chocolate cake at the end, which was perfect. The only snag in the whole meal was that in my ravioli, I bit down on a chunk of very hard cartilage. But the chef came out and apologize, explaining that this is the unfortunate effect of being as fresh as can be.

It's good. The place is nice, the food is good, but mostly it's lost in the service. Meal pacing is critical, and at these prices, it misses the mark. A nice place, let down by service. The break between salad & main course was 40+ minutes, both times we went. That is too long. I had to ask for a refill on my iced tea and only got one, in AN HOUR! When the end of our meal came, the waiter did not offer dessert menus- it was more like, "are you ready to leave?" And if you serve a fish special as a whole fish- better mention that. Been there twice- and again, it is nice and the food is good but the service needs work.

This was our second time to Trabocco. The service was spotty at best. It took forever to get our drink order and we were all but ignored when trying to get a server's attention for drinks and meal. Overall, the food is good, but the main vegetable dish did not taste good. Worth another try.

Delicious meal with cousins who are foodwinos. Excellent service, ambience and food. We shared a number of dishes, including the rotisserie-roasted duck, oxtail ravioli, lamb shanks, cod, butternut squash ravioli and two salads. Not a speck left. Delicious house made breads, too. Then we shared perfectly minimalist tiramisu, pumpkin creme brûlée and spumoni gelato for dessert. Very reasonably priced for the quantity and quality of the food, and especially, such warm, personal service. No-one asked if we were finished or "still workin' on that, guys?"

We first stopped for lunch on a Saturday and loved the food, so we returned the next one for dinner. Again the food was excellent. However, we had a waiter in the evening who took a seeming dislike to us and made comments about "This is America". Now we are all native English speakers but with accents. The waiter did put a damper on the evening. We will go back and hope for better luck with the server. Some tablecloths would hep with the noise. Front staff are very pleasant.

Outstanding food, most welcoming environment for any occasion, casual or special. For a real treat, eat at the counter overlooking the food prep and wood burning oven - an exceptional show and a chance to see up close the attention paid by this gifted, most hospitable chef and proprietor to every dish that leaves the kitchen. A diverse menu with something for everyone, fantastic pizzas and salads plus numerous other entrees and specials. And fancy cocktails too!

My husband and I came here with his mother and sister...they absolutely loved it! Although it was noisy because there was a full house, you can't make out inidividual conversations and after awhile it just turns into white noise. One had the branzino, one had the steak, and they both commented on how excellent everything tasted. It was a dining experience we just had to make sure that we shared with them!

Trabocco was a little challenging to find, but we are so glad we did! It was part of our wedding anniversary celebration, and what a great choice. The food, from the tender octopus/potato appetizer to the wine to the outstanding fish entrée (Alaskan cod) that was prepared nicely. We opted to share the entrée with no hassle. They brought each of us a plate with half portions. The chef actually came out and greeted each guest with an obvious Italian flare! If in Alameda again, we would certainly return to Trabocco.

Trabocco met all our expectations except for the noise level. It was beyond energetic and difficult to caring a conversation. Everything else was good. We were celebrating a special occasion and decided to "go local" rather than to one of San Francisco's more historic/traditional spots. It just didn't work out this time. I thought it was a bit pricey for a restaurant desiring to become a neighborhood gem. The open kitchen and industrial decor just didn't work for us -- a sign of changing times.

Dinner: Place was busy on a Sat evening. Caprice appetizer excellent. Squid ink Risotto so delicious and tasty except for the unnecessary inclusion of small frozen shrimp, the cheap kind found in shrimp louie salads. Pizza with sausage and broccoli came out cold and soggy, should have returned it. Steak excellent even though my guest ordered it well done!. Portions very reasonable. Very loud, poor acoustics. Two of us spent $140 incl 4 drinks, without dessert. Overall a B, this place has so much potential and the owner can take it to the next level if attention to detail in the food and service is improved.

Our waiter and staff were charming, answering all our questions, not only about food, but the owner, cook, décor and house specials. I had red pepper soup and lamb on skewers, both starters. Very good and just enough for me. My friends had risotto with steak and mushrooms, with wine sauce. Excellent, presented like mount Vesuvius. Very good desserts, cream caramel something with whipping cream and tiramisu (?). Didn't mind spending a little more money. Warm, inviting atmosphere. Anxious to try outside next time. Would go again.

After patiently waiting for an occasion to eat at Trobacco's, I must say the food was only subpar. I ordered the oxtail ravioli and my oxtail was tough to chew. The key to a good oxtail anything is to cook it until it almost melts in your mouth. The flavors of the pizza and the oxtail were just "ok". I feel like I could have cooked that dinner myself and the flavors could have been better (and I am a bad cook). The service was good though. I appreciate the Italian accents and the atmosphere of the place. If the food tasted just slightly better, I would give it 5 stars. It's on the pricier side, and although the portions were good, I think you're paying more for the atmosphere.

Party of five on a recent Thursday night. Restaurant was 80% full @ 7pm. Ordered a variety appetizers, pizza, pasta and meat entrees. Calamari and beet salad were tasty and Christina pizza was ample and interesting with arugula and proscuitto. Oxtail ravioli and pork chop (with the long bone) were good. Very pleased that they always allow us to split the steak (medium rare as ordered) into two portions at no split-plate fee! Tiramisu and Chocolate cake were great ways to end the meal. Wine selections were fine. Prices are higher than expected for Alameda, but worth it when you consider the decor and open kitchen designs. and free parking (it's a mall).

I read reviews prior to going and some mentioned less than satisfactory service. I went with a very open mind. However, soon what I read came true. We were seated immediately. Then left to sit. It was a while before our drink orders were taken. Another while before our dinner orders were taken. The food is very good and the servers are polite and friendly. Just very slow. When we finished, we then had to wait for a long while to get our waiter's attention to get the bill. I am not hard to please. However, I would have been greatful if the waiter had at least acknowledged all of the waiting we did and had apologized or something. I hope things improve. The restaurant really does have potential.

I came here while out of town for business. I sat near their pizza oven station. I had a great chat with Giuseppe, their pizza chef and from what I can tell their head chef and/or assistant chef. He assisted the cooks with every step of their process. I had the spaghetti del Trabocco. I'm very picky with seafood, and it was some of the best mussels, clams and shrimp I've ever had!! Giuseppe is the real deal when it comes to real Italian cooking. I was overwhelmed with foodie delight and every part of the meal, including the service I received from the hostess and my server. I've been to Italy and this food is absolutely at par with some of the best food I've had in the boot. A++

I had another recent occassion to have a friend invite me to dinner and I suggested Trabocco's and another friend joined us. We had an absolutely wonderful time. Customer service is extremely important to me. I was thoroughly impressed by all of the workers from the hostess to the chef, etc., I would definitely recommend it for a small group.
