A word from Tra Vigne
Tra Vigne is a ristorante set apart among the vines, creating the illusion of an enchanted Italian village. Behind the ivy covered walls are Three distinct environments: The grand dining room with 30 foot ceilings and a hand-carved bar, the courtyard with alfresco service, and the Magnum Library for special events. Chef's creations from antipasti to pastas, entrees and desserts pay passionate homage to traditional Italian cookery. The restaurant's extensive wine cellar features Napa Valley vintners and Italian varietals.

Served tableside, it starts the meal off with a creamy treat drizzled with the nutty goodness of rich, fresh olive oil. The rabbit, lamb, duck and pork tenderloin dishes were all packed full of rich flavors. We would certainly visit again."

The service is friendly, the patio is nice and the food is fine, but if you are a foodie there are several better options out there such as Farmstead, Redd, Ad Hoc and the AMAZING Archetype in St. Helena, which are truly special experiences."

  • "We love Tra Vigne and go there often for the delicious appetizers (mozzarella al minuto), great pasta, and find desserts. This time, we had an experience we have never had before. I asked our waiter the cost of the fish special and he said $89. He was trying to make a joke, but I did not appreciate it. If I want to know the price of a special, I have the right to know the cost! He never did tell me how much it was going to cost, so I had a different entrée. But it really interfered with my enjoyment of the evening. Other things were wrong as well: we asked for a glass of wine and never received it; we asked for chocolate ice cream and he brought espresso instead and we could never find him to change it. Poor service!"

  • "We spent four days in and around Napa Valley and this was by far our favorite dining experience. The restaurant itself is absolutely gorgeous and very romantic. I highly recommend asking for an outside table as the courtyard is spectacular. The house made pappardelle with rabbit ragu was to die for. The real star here is the Mozzarella al Minuto. I could have cancelled everything else we ordered (not that it wasn't delicious) and eaten 5 lbs of this. The entire rest of our trip we talked about that dish and how we could get another "fix" of it. It is that good. Service was outstanding and I cannot stress enough that Tra Vigne is not to be missed."

  • "Great food, atmosphere and reasonable! The menu is perfectly well suited to the weather. Had the signature fresh mozzarella / bruschetta dish which did not disappoint. We coupled that with the kale/karo salad which was a perfectly balanced mixture of citrus and olive oil which worked well with our other apps. The only disappointment was the carpaccio. The quality of the meat was fine but the garnish overpowers the natural taste of the meat and should be addressed as they're ruining a perfectly good dish. The halibut was fantastic and well balanced while the pork tenderloin really came together nicely with the cherry-sauce working well with the smokiness of the meat."

The service was good, but we just somehow didn't click with our server...he talked us into ordering different entrees that we weren't wowed by, so I think it left us with a "less than expected" experience. That said, the ambience was lovely. We were fortunate enough to be there on an uncrowded night, so the noise level was low. Great wines by the glass. Loved the fresh mozzarella and heirloom tomato appetizer and the salads. We tried the haddock piccata that the server raved about but were disappointed to find the fish overcooked. Would try it again and assume the fish being overcooked was just a hiccup...but there are a lot of great places to eat in Napa also."

  • "Tra Vigne's ambiance is great whether dining on the patio or inside the very high ceilinged and nicely decorated re-purposed industrial building. Layout of open kitchen and spacious bar on two sides of inside dining area is a neat design. Romantic Tuscany style. Only real downer was there was a full-of-himself, loudmouth lout a few tables away but that certainly is not the restaurant's fault, just life. Service was very good and our waiter was very knowledgeable and dry witted. Sorry to rate the food down as it was very nicely presented; while my halibut was truly excellent my wife's organic baked chicken was abysmal (very dry and tough as shoe leather, thank the good Lord for a sharp steak knife) and dessert was at best sample size."

  • "We visited Tra Vigne after reading several positive reviews. It is a 5 star restaurant for sure. We had an appetizer of peppers, which were seasoned perfectly and not spicy hot. We had the duck and rabbit dishes, both of which were amazing! The homemade pasta was so fresh and the meats were prepared beautifully in their sauces. We wished we had room for dessert but just couldn't do it! The gardens were lovely, our service was perfect and the food was delicious - - - 5 stars all the way around!"

  • "Excellent! Delicious house cocktails! Mozzarella "Al Minuto" a must, plus we had the bonus of the Heirloom tomatoes as a perfect complement. The brick oven organic chicken "Al Mattone" was literally the best chicken we have ever tasted! We also ordered the sage infused Pappardelle that was delicious as well. (We would order both of these again). The sommelier suggested a wonderful zinfandel that paired well with both our entire meal and that we thoroughly enjoyed. We topped our dinner off with some of the gelato, an espresso and latte. A fabulous evening! We will definitely recommend this restaurant and we hope to come back one day!"

  • "I had heard many nice things about Tra Vigne in the past, but after receiving a recommendation from the Hall Winery tasting room, I thought I'd give it a try. I asked for three courses, chef's choice with wine pairing. The first course, a creamy corn soup was out of this world! With a little bread, it could have been the entire meal! The second course, a Lacinato Kale and Farrow salad was light and refreshing, with a nice consistency. The main course, a grilled Hill Ranch pork tenderloin, was on the very edge of being overly dry. However, a rich cherry sauce and the side of creamed corn with bacon and arugula brought it back. Dessert was butterscotch Pannacotta. Heavenly! Wine pairings were well planned and it was a great meal!"

We ordered drinks at the bar and had quick service - try the limoncello with vodka and cinnamon sugar rim. We enjoyed viewing the wedding in progress which was a big event handled extremely well on a holiday weekend. Our meal was extraordinary! Our favorites were the mozzarella brushetta with heirloom tomatoes and the asparagus raviolis. We want to come back for those dishes alone! We really appreciated the care that the staff and kitchen took to split our dishes so my husband and I could equally enjoy all the flavors. Thank you so much for another wedding anniversary experience (2 years & again at 28 years) will return 4 sure"
