A word from Tra Vigne
Tra Vigne is a ristorante set apart among the vines, creating the illusion of an enchanted Italian village. Behind the ivy covered walls are Three distinct environments: The grand dining room with 30 foot ceilings and a hand-carved bar, the courtyard with alfresco service, and the Magnum Library for special events. Chef's creations from antipasti to pastas, entrees and desserts pay passionate homage to traditional Italian cookery. The restaurant's extensive wine cellar features Napa Valley vintners and Italian varietals.

Diner Reviews
  • "Very good address. A lot of flavors and very good service."
    Dined on 7/6/2014
  • "Excellent! Delicious house cocktails! Mozzarella "Al Minuto" a must, plus we had the bonus of the Heirloom tomatoes as a perfect complement. The brick oven organic chicken "Al Mattone" was literally the best chicken we have ever tasted! We also ordered the sage infused Pappardelle that was delicious as well. (We would order both of these again). The sommelier suggested a wonderful zinfandel that paired well with both our entire meal and that we thoroughly enjoyed. We topped our dinner off with some of the gelato, an espresso and latte. A fabulous evening! We will definitely recommend this restaurant and we hope to come back one day!"

  • "Tra Vigne staff was so friendly, esp Amy James (hostess) and seasoned servers Cindy and her husband as well. We ordered drinks at the bar and had quick service - try the limoncello with vodka and cinnamon sugar rim. We enjoyed viewing the wedding in progress which was a big event handled extremely well on a holiday weekend. Our meal was extraordinary! Our favorites were the mozzarella brushetta with heirloom tomatoes and the asparagus raviolis. We want to come back for those dishes alone! We really appreciated the care that the staff and kitchen took to split our dishes so my husband and I could equally enjoy all the flavors. Thank you so much for another wedding anniversary experience (2 years & again at 28 years) will return 4 sure"

  • "I had heard many nice things about Tra Vigne in the past, but after receiving a recommendation from the Hall Winery tasting room, I thought I'd give it a try. I asked for three courses, chef's choice with wine pairing. The first course, a creamy corn soup was out of this world! With a little bread, it could have been the entire meal! The second course, a Lacinato Kale and Farrow salad was light and refreshing, with a nice consistency. The main course, a grilled Hill Ranch pork tenderloin, was on the very edge of being overly dry. However, a rich cherry sauce and the side of creamed corn with bacon and arugula brought it back. Dessert was butterscotch Pannacotta. Heavenly! Wine pairings were well planned and it was a great meal!"

  • "Not enough space or words can describe the bomb that went off in our mouths. Amazing amazing food. Brian, our server was fantastic, short ribs superb, pork Tenderloin out of this world. Simply fantastical."

  • "My husband and I celebrated our 10th anniversary at Tra Vigne and could not have been happier with our evening. Everything was outstanding -- the food and the service was exceptional, and we were seated outside on a beautiful night. It came highly recommended by local folks and they were right on. We would recommend it to anyone in the area. Absolutely top notch."

  • "The food was good, but the location was superb! Since I was last there years ago, they have added excellr t outside dining, perfect for a summer night."
    Dined on 7/3/2014
  • "We rate Tra Vigne as one of the finest restaurants in Napa County. This time we sat outside and marveled at how ideal it was."
    Dined on 7/2/2014
  • "Very good food, service and ambience, but why is it when I make a reservation and request a certain table and area to be seated the restaurant disregards my request and attempts to seat us in a less desirable area when a table we requested is open? I end up asking to be seated at the table I requested and 9 out of 10 times we are moved. Very frustrating."

  • "The food and service was excellent. I would recommend it for romantic dinners."

  • "Beautiful "old-world" setting, indoor and outdoor dining options; seemed busiest from about 7 to 8:45. Hostess, waiter, and manager all very attentive. Presentation and flavors were wonderful. I have spent much more at lesser restaurants here in Phoenix. I would not hesitate to recommend, and plan on returning on my next trip to Napa."

  • "We celebrated our 41st anniversary. Dennis was very courteous, knowledgable of the Brunch/lunch menu and very friendly. We loved hearing about his love to history."

  • "I loved the look of Tra Vigne, especially at night. Friendly staff and good food. I had the Cesar Salad and Asparagus Ravioli, both very good. My friend has food allergies and they were very accommodating. A great find!"

  • "6 ladies celebrating my 70th birthday. The service, food, and ambience were outstanding. The ladies ordered a birthday cake to be sent to the restaurant and they served it with no extra charge. We brought 2 bottles of wine - 1st bottle no corkage fee, 2nd bottle just $20. That is an outstanding deal. Can't say enough good things about Tra Vigne!!!!"

  • "We had an 8:15 reservation. Friendly service and remarkable desserts."

  • "Never disappointed here. Once we get past the must-order Mozarella "al minuto", everything else just falls into place. Excellent food. Even the simple chicken-apple sausage at brunch is really good. Signature dish is short-ribs and it does not disappoint. Service top-notch, the outdoor patio is very comfortable and relaxing. Highly recommended."

  • "Very nice dinner. Somewhat of a snooty crowd. No problem, though. Food is worth it!"
    Dined on 6/27/2014
  • "We have dined at Tra Vigne for 25+ years. We love their cookbook and sitting outside under the trees. The menu needs to be updated. The waiters push the mozzarella on toast, it's ok. The corn chowder was excellent.. The branzino was the whole fish, a beautiful preparation, but a bit overcooked. The menu really hasn't changed in years and is a bit tired. Too many restaurants are now doing the same menu. Please get back to some innovation. Still worth a visit for the ambience."

  • "This was my second time at this restaurant and just like the first it was a great experience. Both times we sat outside and I highly recommend that. This would be a great place for that special occasion you want to celebrate. Huge, huge wine list."

  • "The best halibut I have ever eaten! Service was outstanding and the meal was excellent. We will be back on our next trip to the wine country."

  • "As a first time visitor to Napa, I wanted to treat my husband to a nice dinner for his birthday, and Tra Vigne got great reviews. When we arrived, a party of 2 that did NOT have reservations was seated before us, and we had to wait 15 minutes for our reserved seat!! Even though things did not start off on the right foot, the food was fabulous! The mozzarella appetizer is a must have. Also, ask about half sizes of pasta, which will allow you to try multiple dishes!"

  • "Mozz was not as good as promised. Heavy. Had 1/4 of it and filled me up. Signature short ribs were amazing."
    Dined on 6/25/2014
  • "We had not been to Tra Vigne in years and were eager to see what it is like now. We were delighted to find that little had changed. We had a wonderful lunch outside under the shade trees, right next to the small fountain. Our server was a veteran of many years at Tra Vigne who was very knowledgeable and delightful."

  • "Tra Vigne is still one of my all-time favorite Wine Country restaurants. It has great food, service and abiance. I always love to sit outside in the summertime and imagine I'm in Italy."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "As always lunch was fantastic. The fresh mozzarella can't be beat. I couldn't resist the corn soup which was perfect with the Sauvignon Blanc and the kale salad is a consistent favorite. Looking forward to the return of the seasonal padrone peppers. Service is consistently excellent."

  • "Must get the mozzarella! All good was awesome! Highly recommend!"

  • "This restaurant was great. The food was excellent, came out fast and the service was superb. Will defintly return."
    Dined on 6/18/2014
  • "Tra Vigne's carbonara tasted as good as the dish we had in Tuscany. We took our own bottle of wine, and TraVigne did not charge a corkage fee, which was nice. We passed up dessert for coffee that was strong and very good. Overall, it was a very good experience."
    Dined on 6/19/2014
  • "The food was excellent, as usual, but our waiter, Nestor, was likely one of the best I've had at any restaurant. Knows the menu front and back, came by to check on us just at the right time. Made a superb meal even more enjoyable."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "Tra Vigne was outstanding in every way. We had a late reservation (9:15) but the place was still fairly buzzing, with a wedding reception going on in the courtyard (where outdoor dining is, a beautiful brick patio area). Service was excellent. Food was outstanding. Try the bruschetta with mozzarella stretched on top appetizer...a must-have. The Tuna Tagliatelle was incredible, as was the beef short-ribs entree. Highly recommend, and good prices too, especially for Napa Valley."

  • "How I wish Tra Vigne were closer to West L.A., where we could frequent them! Their Wednesday special was a fabulous treat. The most delicious green salad topped by a limonette dressing, followed by a tasty cioppino with seafood in every bite. This was accompanied by a garlic bruschetta-- all for $20 !!? Even if the price were higher, we would have raved about the food and service. It's been almost ten years since we were in Napa, so we didn't know if Tra Vigne was still as good as we remembered. Hello, everyone, it IS! We'd had three fancy dinners in a row and were wanting a good Italian meal. This was more than good. It's the quality you hope for in Napa. I want to go back!"

  • "Been coming here since it opened. Back home to Bay Area after 10 year absence to AZ. FIRST PLACE WE WANTED TO EAT!!! Mozzarella appetizer is PHENOMENAL!!! Rabbit dish is utterly decadent.... Love this place. Great things get better with age. TV is proof of that."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "The Rabbit Ragu Pappardelle was overcooked (pasta not al dente) and I bit down on rabbit bones twice. I was afraid to eat any more for fear of breaking a tooth. The gelato was almost tasteless. The mixed green salad was good. My wife had the halibut and it was excellent - cooked perfectly with a great accompanying salad. The tables were too close together and it was very noisy. The fact that I had rabbit bones in my pasta and the salad arrived within about a minute of ordering it, made me think this was a kitchen on automation. The expresso was below average. The restroom was not pleasant."

  • "Went to dinner on Saturday night. Everyone talked about the mozzarella, waiter said it would change my life. It was nothing special, cheese on over grilled bread. Ordered porterhouse for two and it was ok, but came out rare instead of medium rare."
